Super ironic! I built this jump (and Greydome next to it). This guy wins "Fail of the Month" on it doing the exact same thing that I DIDN'T win "Fail Of the Month" for this www.pinkbike.com/video/370806 back in August, 2014.

On another note, this jump has a very long take off and it is uber smooth, not lippy. As I did, he just didn't pre-load and thus the OTB. I hope he is doing better. All of us who take risks, have bad moments. Some worse than others. I, from my "fail", always think pre-load now before I hit any jump.

I was considering hitting that. Well fuck that, not anymore.

If you can get the wooden table and the other gap down solid and at least clear the big step down go for it.

Jesus that was nasty. Got to be a FOTM contender.

 Holy crap....

Does anyone have tips to not have this happen? My back kicks out a ton like that as well.

You are lucky that you *limped* out of that

slow down the rebound on your shock

Basically you want to push into your suspension right before the lip and float more off the lip if that makes sense

This used to happen to me a lot as well, then I slowed down my rebound by about 5-6 clicks and I haven't had any bucking sensation at all.

wow that must hurt! hope he is ok!

To keep it simple in the moment I just focus on my feet. Just give a little 'stomp' right before you take off. "Stomp that bitch" I think to myself - I don't know why... But it helps me remember. The front wheel takes care of itself then the loaded suspension after the 'stomp' takes care of the rest.

@kent-b: you're right about the technique. I used to think "heals down" when I hit the tranny, but now "stomp that tranny" will be it... another way to think about it is putting all your weight on your feet (i.e. no weight on your bars) as your front wheel come off the lip.
