the very first shot makes it look like he is landing it to flat

ya it is pretty scetchy
but i think that drop is almost impossible cuz A: the suspension needed would be like 15 inches and even that might get bottomed out and also the landing is not steep enough so the shock itself is going to throw u over ur handles so its hard if anyone can land that i will be soo amazed and if they can do it on a HT i will give them 1000000 dollars

the landing is almost vertical you just cant tell it from the camera angles. and i wish bender would actually land something.
- + 12
i wonder when he is going to realize that its never going to happend. i wish they just let that 15 year old hit the drop, just so he would crash and get some sense nocked into him
- + 18
why do people still call it JAW drop? right, people's jaws drop when they see someone hit it, but it's time they realize it is JAH drop...
- + 4
wouldnt it be best if you turned down the rebound nearly all the way? then the suspension would absorb your landing, and cos there aint any huge trail features after the landing it wouldnt matter that hes at the bottom of his travel

i would go for the bigfoot too, its what bender used. and i dont think an air shock would be a good idea in the back, you want to have around 600lbs in your shock
- + 8
because he rides bikes? and hes not a pussy?
its kinda a natural instinct for bikers to try something again after they have crashed.

@Jojojof: Its a Marzocchi supermoster whit 300mm or 11 inches and to me it doesn't look like he bottomed out

If nobody was as stupid as him nobody would step it up. We would all be considering 10 footers are big. Bender just stepped it up and is a legend to some and a failure to others. Legend to me.

...no... Wade Simmons landed bigger shit than Bender. Get yo' facts staight, son. Bender was just a dumbass.
- + 12
Yeah landed. Bender helped elvolve the sport though so did wade simmons. I also said some hate him and some like him. He's landed some decent sized stuff back then, bender is more known for his crashes and failed attempts than what he actually landed.

I maybe left 2 or 3 useless comments that wern't that dumb either that you replied to. There are so many other people out out there, your just aiming it towards me.
- + 2
not like he used to, the guy's still out there shredding but thats the way extreme sports work- like it or not when you get old you cant do the same stuff 10 years ago.

Josh Bender is LEGEND. For those of you in your teens.....I can remember Bender from back in the ninties when most you guys were in pre-school, he was hitting huge stuff when people hadn't even thought of it yet. He crashed alot sure, riding HAS progressed since then ....but make no mistake, Bender has acheived a mythological status that should be admired for pushing this sport to where it is today.

I think the landing is plenty steep, but just about 10 or 15 feet up from where he actually landed. A little slower,no pull on the bars. Bender pulls on the bars like crazy and lands back wheel all the the time, then craters the front when it slaps down with the resulting 30 degree headtube angle. He should have rolled in,with no or just a little air. If the landing was tracked, could even lay down a sheet or two of plywood,he would roll away SOOOO fast that might be the next problem.

no he didnt, hes failed it 3 times already, even hes worked out that he carnt land it (part of the problem is those sodding forks, http://www.risseracing.com/forks.shtml , they have no bottem out ramp so bender just blasts the travel so easily with little resistance the shock ends up being over loaded and fails, if he were to run marzocchi super monsters then it would be a different story as it has a proper separated dampening cartridge, oh and if he ran a lot slower rebound he should be able to predict the shocks kick alot better)if you look at side oh videos of bender running that fork you can see that on impact he almost instantly bottoms it, he could do a bit better if he had fox 40's as the dampening would do better then the extra 4 inches of travel.
- + 1
Wrong, super monster is a rock solid fork! the risse bigfoot isont!, supermonster has a superior dampening cartridge, the fact that the bigfoot is an "upside down" fork means by nature its going to be more flexxy, you also have to remember other have 300mm travel so he would not break is wrists.
- + 4
I'm not saying the super monster wasn't a good fork for what it was. A huckers fork. It was crap in any other application period. And off the jaw drop you are breaking your wrists... Or in benders case your ankles.
And for those of you who say he's just stupid for trying it. Isn't that what this sport is a bout really? Not thinking?

lol every one knows the supermonster is shit of any other then hucking.
but i ithnk in a few years some nutter will get up and drop it and not crash on impact, but need very lon travel forks to develop before that happens.
i dont think hes stupid for trying it, i think he is for the kit he used as i have already explained. our sprt is about pushing boundaries in the per suite of adrenaline, that's exactly what Josh bender did here.

I take it you don't like to read?
I guess what we are doing is taking advantage of the right to RITE on a forum

Do you guys think that he could land it if he would nose in a bit more? Cause his rear suspension always loads up and bucks him just as his front wheel finally hits... all the momentum forward throws him over the bars every time. If he landed both wheels together, he might still bottom out, but he probably wouldn't get bucked like that.
- + 3
ironic his name is josh bender, seeing that he bent his helmet all out of whack lol, would take lots of courage to do that over and over again, good job
- - 1
yo i know 4 a fact that the way there pulling up like that is goin to f*ck'em up, cuz u can't always depend on that front shock cuz your weight is thrown forwerds & u eat it bad, so if i had the balls 4 it i would not pull up so much...
- - 4
your a fool! you have to on some thing like this, plus to some people it come naturally, note on most of his drops he does, im not claiming to be josh but i also do, i dont know why i just do, on gaps as well, if you see any of me gapping i will be full on bar humping. (not sexual)
- + 1
he means this guy has got balls, he abrievaeated he has to he's, and how well do you speak canadian LOL

- + 1
no he hasent , he hasent sed hes got balls - he said these guys got bals "these" and "guys" is a term used when trefering to multiple subjects!
- + 1
he he had meant multiple people he would have said these guys HAVE got balls, however, i think that you smell funny
*mature insult*
