Kicking Horse Climb and Terminator Downhill Kicking Horse Climb and Terminator Downhill
On Saturday, September 8th, Kicking Horse Resort in Golden BC will be running it's first ever DH race. In an area known for it's megla-gnarly terrain and awesome riders, this course, designed by Golden locals Justin Bateman and Scott Hicks should challenge all, from the intermediate to the ultra-hardcore. Running in conjunction with the DH is a hill climb for those with a running fetish, so all you need is your bike, armour and a pair of running shoes. The truly hardcore will be found running up in the climb and mounting the DH steed for the race down. Prize for the top male and female is a season's pass to Kicking Horse Resort. The terrain in Golden is a must ride for the serious mountainbiker, and the race schedule should leave you with plenty of time to ride Mount 7 on Sunday! Contact Kicking Horse Resort for more information or call Guest Services at (250)439-5400. See you at the race!

Fionn's Fine Season Fionn's Fine Season
Mont-Sainte-Anne, Québec, Canada:
As the tents get lowered and the trucks pull out of the large open air car park here in Mont-Sainte-Anne, following the 2001 Tissot-UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Finals, teams and athletes alike start to take stock of their season and their performances, evaluating objectives reached or missed. Very few could be happier than a young 19 year old, celebrating her birthday today far from family and friends, who in her first senior year has achieved what no other British woman has ever done.

"I've never been so nervous."

Imagine for a moment that you're Greg Minnaar - a mild-mannered
20-year-old from Pietermaritzburg in the Republic of South Africa.
Now imagine that you're just eight points from winning the single
most difficult achievement in your sport - the mountain bike world
cup title. You're sitting in the start gate, the timing official
gives you the go-ahead and for the next five minutes an entire season
hangs in the balance…

Riding at Norquay enforced Riding at Norquay enforced
A couple of friends and I were riding Stoney Squaw yesterday. Not more than five minutes after returning to the truck an RCMP officer pulled up behind us, blocking the truck in. He asked where we had been riding, and after a brief explanation was happy that we had been on the approved mountain biking trail.

Why would an RCMP officer be interested you might ask? For those of you that don't know, most of the trails on Norquay have been closed to biking except for the one we were on. Also, recently all of Parks Canada enforcement has been handed to RCMP. [Read More]

The Calgary Mountain Bike Alliance has
met with the city government to discuss the freeriding issue, and are now
in the process of identifying appropriate locations.
"As a first step, CMBA has been asked to document the criteria that
identify an appropriate freeriding venue. We are putting together a
committee to define these criteria and continue the dialogue with the City
Administration. If you are interested in participating on this committee
please send an email to info@cmbalink.com"

Whoever told you that was wrong, and below is all the info on how your freeride bike can also travel in style in an Iron Case from Trico Sports.
