150mm Travel Ghost PrototypeGerman brand Ghost has a longer travel version of their Riot on display, although they were quick to point out that this early 150mm travel variant is more of a "functional model" that has allowed them to sort of the suspension kinematics than anything even close to being production. In fact, word is that this will be a 2016 model rather than anything we'll be able to see soon, and the front triangle is assembled with straight gauge aluminum tubing while the backend utilizes the chain and seat stays from the existing 130mm travel Riot model.
Ghost intends the yet to be named 650B wheeled bike to be fitted with a 170mm travel fork, making for the same 20mm front to back travel differential as with their new, 2015 Riot LT series, but with much slacker and lower geometry for more full-on terrain and enduro racing. This prototype has actually been welded in the Czech Republic at an engineering firm that Ghost uses for such things, which lets them be more hands on regarding changes that they want to see done quickly. And as you might expect, Ghost is looking to go straight to a full carbon fiber version come production time.
The Riot-Link is tucked up inside of the frame, and it helps the suspension ramp up in the last 20% of its travel.
Riot-Link SuspensionGhost's Riot-Link is all about ramping up the bottom-out resistance in the later stages of travel, with the rocker arm controlling the first 80% of the shock's stroke and the nearly hidden Riot-Link looking after the final 20%. The shock isn't mounted to the front triangle at all - it's bolted to the rocker at the top and the Riot-Link at the bottom - and Ghost says that the design gives them more freedom when it comes to tailoring how the suspension performs at different points in its travel.

This is a STRAIGHT TUBE proto for getting the suspension kinematics dialed... of course it looks like its 10 years old
this is the current 120mm model in all its carbon glory
