Interbike 2008 Wonderful Randoms

Sep 26, 2008
by Mike Levy
We've been a bit more focused this go around in Vegas, but that hasn't stopped me from wandering the halls of Interbike aimlessly looking for the exit! Here are some of the cool things I've been able to find in my travels.

Inside you'll find info on...

-The new DW equipped Turner DHR
-Prototype Knolly DH race bike!
-Marzocchi and carbon fiber?!
-Limited production FOX DH race dampers, the new DHX RC4
-Morewood Makulu DH rig
-As well as new and improved goodies from CaneCreek and MRP Let's get this party started with probably the single most requested item from our readers while we're at Interbike: Turner's DW Link DHR.

2009 Turner DHR

Get your hands out of your pants, this is still very early days for the new DW Turner DHR. I've been hearing that January is the goal so start saving!

Looks like the decided geo is going to sit at 64.5 up front, with 17.4" chainstays and a 14" BB, and a 1.5" headtube. It'll sport 8.3" of boing out back via a DHX from Fox. I personally see lines from both IronHorse (the front triangle near the headtube and seattube) and the slim rear end of a classic Turner DHR.

Leave it to Marzocchi....

photo

I'm sure there is some sort of PR reason for doing this but on top of that it simply looks trick. I also need the carbon body tire pump please...

MRP have things absolutely dialed. Every MRP guide I've ever rolled with has been flawless and pain free to install, as an added bonus I haven't lost a chain when using an MRP piece since, well never!

photo

The new G2 mini will work perfectly for those who rock 36 tooth or smaller rings. I reviewed the original G2 guide awhile back, go HERE to read about what I thought of it

photo

MRP's XCG guard adds a load of protection without a load of weight. There are versions for both dual and triple ring applications

photo

How about a new integrated stem that fits the Boxxer standard

Morewood had their new Makulu DH race rig kicking about in the Canecreek booth. Obviously it was sporting the Double Barrel out back!

A closer look. I don't know much about it except that it goes fast

Canecreek has made some small changes to their award winning Double Barrel shock. The shape of the low-speed adjustment needles have been refined a bit to provide more linear adjustment range and the glide ring cut has been modified to minimize internal bleeding of the damping oil. Oh, and it finally comes with a nifty tool to make on-trail adjustments easier. Whew!

I was in techno geek heaven this year what with all the new DH bikes being flaunted. Noel of Knolly bikes has his yet-to-be-named new race rig as his booth's center piece.

photo

Familiar design in some ways and also a huge step in a new direction for Noel.

As a full on race rig the new bike is sporting a 63.5 degree head tube angle and 8.4" of rear wheel travel.

photo

All that is there for a reason. The idler not only minimizes the chain's effect on the rearward axle path but reportedly also makes it quite the pedaler.

photo

Straight from the horse's mouth: "Optimized rearward wheel path utilizing Omega Metered Factored Gaussain Super Theoretical Forward Ultimate pivot technology." Apparently Noel has been collaborating with both Data and Jordi LaForge on suspension design

Corsair has got some bikes coming, really they do! There has been some delays but the finished product is so clean and well thought out that the delay will be worth it!

photo

The Crown has an optional secondary shock that actually gives the bike a different wheel path through its travel

photo

Pablo explained to me what is going on here but I won't even try to do the same. Just look and admire

Fox DHX RC4 and Fox 40 RC2 World Championship editions. There will only be a limited run of 200 of each so you probably won't get one. By probably I mean you definitely won't! But if you have money ready, place your order today!

photo

Adjustable low and high speed compression and I'm going to guess it has no ProPedal.

Different on the outside and the inside....

This is just a smidgen of what we saw so there's a load more to come! Stay tuned!

I think the whole thing with Marzocchi putting sexual images or sayings on there products is really stupid. What the heck is the point. If its a sales pitch, its a really pathetic one.
