They hardly mentioned that he was on a trail bike. Graves with the SB, and now Gwinn with an enduro. I guess this track is good for a bike you can pedal. Congrats to Gwin, I wonder what bike he'll ride for the rest of the season. The demo + Gwin has not been a good combo.
Winning bike was an Enduro SX, which is a 180mm travel version of the Enduro that is essentially replaces the SX Trail freeride bike for the time being. Not to mention the dampening effect of the bigger wheels. I don't think this qualifies as a trail bike, Sam Hill and Brosnan have both run SX Trails at various WC Downhill races before, and no one called them out for "trail bike" status. People are way too up in arms!
Trail, Enduro, All Mountain... whatever you want to call it. The Graves' SB and the Spesh Enduro are not "Downhill" bikes. I was under the impression that Gwin was on the proto 650b Enduro Evo. That would likely be a 160 / 165 rear travel bike, which most would consider suited for EWS more than WC DH. That's just my 2 cents.
Hopefully they have a proto next gen Demo for Gwin to ride the rest of the season.
quit bitchin bout redbull tv...its free...no one else will provide the coverage.....just ignnore the web for a few hours so you dont see results and watch the replay.......simples ;-)

Next "Real" DH Race in Cairns specialized will Starts with the New 2015 Demo ( 27.5 wheelsize ) ...... I've heard that all Demo's are in 2015 with 27.5 wheels and with a new rear. Surprise......surprise....surprise
Superb! bring on Cairns ....and someone should give that Warner guy a slang vocabulary history lesson and then he might stop calling Richard Cunynghame "Cunny" every 2 minutes if he knew what it meant lol!
If you hold the slider in the spot you want to skip to for a number of seconds (about 20s for me), then it will skip there. If I just slide and let go in 2s, it drops back to where I was.
I am sure the bigger wheels help the speed by a small margin, I saw a difference when I had my 29er, but you know Gwin was training his arse off this winter to make up for last year. I see that bigger wheels can be faster, but I love all my 26" bikes, including my '14 enduro expert evo (without the dual crowns ha). This all came down to Gwin working the kinks out and strenuous training (physically and mentally).
To me this shows it's mostly hype at least in DH. This was probably the track with the most pedaling all year and a 26 was top 3 with another 26 in top 2 qualy. If 27.5 was really that much faster we would have seen it today.
The biggest difference on a bike isn't wheelsize. It's being physically fit and competent.
Can we stop with wheelsize please.
Arguably the greatest athlete in the sport won on an excellent tweaked all mountain rig.
No news here.
nismo325 it's been all hype from the start, and just not in DH. Remember when Vouilloz started with the propaganda back in 2012 before the start of the 2013 Enduro series. A significant portion of the field was riding 27.5s, and we all know what happened there.
I seen this a dozen times. The tapered head tube, 142mm spacing, 10sp drive train, fox refusing to design a 20mm thru axle even though the public wants it......but wait, only after the 15mm becomes the standard.
now 2 prove gwin is back and the demo is actually a good bike he will have 2 win on 1 congrats 2 the guys who actually rode their dh rigs eg 3rd place minaar!
