 I think because the first thing you notice if you ever use vid is the quality. I tried to switch to HD quality, but still it looks poor to me compare to GoPro. And if ever it is compressed, contour used this video to promote their product and they want the best promotion out there. peace fraser

 It always surprises me that Contour uses overly and or poorly compressed videos to promote their product. Of course people will assume that it reflects on the quality of the raw footage. Seems like a bad marketing decision to me, but I am not in advertising...

 still looks a bit shit, and go pro will have to use the same internet. And the media isn't a favour for viewers its a job and if it's being done badly why shouldn't people complain, photographers seem to think they are some higher breed stop being so condescending.

 I don't buy it. The article is by Contour and it's clearly an ad. Why would any marketing company compress an already compressed bitstream and then pretend it's 720p. Does anyone know what chipset Contour use? My Nokia can do better.

 Karpiel, why should we be grateful, they do it as a job and get to travel the world and earn money, the byproduct for us is great but i'm sick of this whole thing where any free media is seen as a massive favour to the viewers.

 You're correct, it is a job for them. I don't know how it is in the UK but over here, if there is so much as a mountain bike CLIP on tv (aside from jackasses doing dumb shit), then pigs must be flying outside. So if they have biking all over tv there then good on ya. But for this amount of content on one site, I won't complain about quality.

 I think you're confusing two issues. You can be greatful for the up to date and free content on PB and still complain about the poor quality of an upload. Why not? We're used to a higher standard.

 Know how I know the footage is dramatically better? Because I have the raw camera footage and compressed this footage for upload. If you don't like it, don't watch it, no one is holding a gun to your head.

 Exactly, i'm just glad i am able to see what the track is like, and it also gives you a great perspective of how fast these guys are shredding. I say people should stop hating and just sit back, chill and watch the epic video

 At last, some one not bitching. I have a Contour and in its best setting it's awesome, even lo res is adequate. Go pro's are awesome too, I just prefer the style of contour over go pro..

now, is mt. st. anne open to the public for chairlift assisted mountain biking? i heard it wasn't. and if that is true, then that is the only thing worth bitching about, because that course looks fun.

 Well let me lay it out for you buddy. One of the first things i usually look for is image quality. Not everyone's cup of tea, but its mine cause Im going to school for it. So if its bad why not discuss it, contour wants to make a better camera right? Well they need to know what we want AND im sure with our valuable information they will one day come out with a nice little fantastical camera that's better than the gopro. But for the love of god everything i have seen from the contour is shit. Is it cool they are posting it, Yes. But would you like to know why? well ill tell ya, to sell their product. They are not doing us a favor, There is nothing i have to be grateful for, if contour wants to sell their product then they have to post videos of it in action. I appreciate the footage but when a mother f*cking photojournalist from a website i have supported for the past 7 years tells me to "quit bitching" when this place should be all about voicing your opinion it kind of gets me a little ticked off.

 Feel free to pay your way to every event, collect the footage, edit/output/compress and then find a way to upload it.After spending about 12-14 hours a day working.

Until then, you should grow up and realize that not everyone works under studio conditions with all the time in the world. You get what you get, if you don't like it, no one is forcing you to watch it. Stay in school, kiddo.

 Woah woah Fraser, slow your roll. You have no idea what I do, what I go through, or what the conditions are like. I don't know why your telling me to grow up then making immature jabs at me by calling me a kiddo. You think I have all the time in the world? Studio Conditions? are you kidding me??? I constantly have serious deadlines to meet. I have worked in hot, cold, rain, mud, dirt, underwater, you name it. I have worked with 100.3 degree fever in a crack house for a two day 12 hour a day shoots 45 minutes away with the call time being 7am. I have worked 48 and 72 hours straight bouncing back and forth from several sets while balancing finals at school UNPAID all while still having a great time and attitude and enjoy everyone's company on whatever the project may be, Because I love film making. Don't you ever talk down to me like that. As if you know me. Fraser your really making pinkbike look bad. For the love of god all that I am saying is that i have not seen ANY footage from the contour that looks decent. Sorry. I originally brought it up as a discussion and you took it so personally.

 talking about Contour, some look better than others. This looks like 20$ cam, must be speed, roughtnes or smth.. but ergonomically as a helmet cam, it is unbeatable

 the rock section 2/3rd's of the way down is tricky, but the rest of the track is a little tame for WC racing. It was adequate 10 years ago, but these guys can ride much much gnarlier stuff nowadays.
