Phil Atwill returns to the series with yet more insane riding, this time from the South West of England. In the land of pasties, tractors and truly epic scenery lies an abandoned mine; once the largest copper and arsenic mine in the World, now home to the perfect MTB playground for Phil to go wild...

The pit bike footage at the start of this video is filmed outside of Tavistock Woodlands. You are not allowed to ride motorbikes of any kind on site! Please don't do it! MTB riding filmed at multiple locations inside and outside of Tavistock Woodlands.

Check out www.gawtongravityhub.co.uk for more info on the trails.

The last couple jumps strait into left hand berm...I dont even understand how he can pull out of that! So sick! Im still practicing the wheely 30 years later...
  • 1 1
@ryetoast: I'm pretty sure he didn't get that good by just riding a HT in the woods...
  • 18 0
I didn't know Justin Trudeau could shred like that.

  • 6 5
Hold my beer, I can do this...
  • 11 0
Kinda puts it into perspective how skilled these WC guys are when you see them shredding your local like that. Geddon Phil, keep the edits coming

Bike check required on this steed

He rides in a arsenic mine. No wonder Phil is so SICK! ( insert Rob Warner voice)
  • 6 1
There is another ProPain rider on the Shore who does all of those nice manual and nose wheelie moves. This guy is Luis M... and he can also climb like a cyclocross machine. ProPain knows how to rack up the talent. Bike must be proper too.

Owhh!! I know exactly where that quarry at the start is. Many a happy day (mainly wednesdays slacking off uni) was spent there 16 or so years ago! I can remember folk doing that gap jump that he hipped at the start. It was considered huge at the time. That place was awesome. I did my biggest jumps there.

Ha ha! Amazing! One of my locals too. Broke my leg here on the double after the horse jumps (1.2Cool . Had to pressure wash the wound where my tibia came through my calf cos of all the arsenic!!!

Great fun place to smash around still though! And he make sit look even raddest!

I love phils edits and good to see him at local trails. He is so fast and stylish and literally twice as fast as i can get down them! Keep up the good work!

I thought he was going to grind on that piece of steel at the end. When he hucked, I thought he was going full BMX grind. Gasped out loud.
  • 4 1
DO THEY MAKE A WHEELIE BAR FOR A MOUNTAIN BIKE SO I CAN PRACTICE THAT JUMP STRAIGHT INTO A MANUAL???

Such an exciting rider to watch

This dude shreds, but goes through a rear wheel every time he rides or what?
  • 1 0
 Nope Smile wheels love it!
  • 1 0
I wondered why intense wants to keep the uzzi in the shadow? Anyways, Phil rocks and Propain rules the day! Prices are reasonable too... me thinks.
  • 1 2
Sweet vid, but going to go ahead and say I wouldn't want to be riding around in a bunch of arsenic-laden slag. At least it's not powder dry and sucking toxic dust in. Would be giving the ol' steed a good rinse down after that session.

Not sure about propain, but he is definitely on the gas.
  • 2 0
Phil Atwill is looser than octomom!
  • 2 0
 ....aaargh! I want that Spindrift!
  • 1 0
For some reason when i watch his turns it reminds me of someone surfing. Carving up the mojntain like its a wave.
  • 1 0
His front wheel is in the air so much he might as well throw some trials in there! tup
  • 2 0
What bike company was he riding on?
  • 1 0
Propain (it was the Spindrift, I believe...)
  • 1 0
 Propain
  • 1 0
 Propain from Germany
  • 2 0
 Propain

Yeah I think I got it after the second comment. But thanks guys. Haha
  • 1 0
@Austin-Smith: WHAAAAT? Propain?! Where did you see or hear that? Such a crazy answer!
  • 1 0
@Austin-Smith: I heard from a young fella down the street. He says that the rumors are that this man in the video is riding a bike made by Propain. Do you know anything about that?
  • 1 0
@chillrider199: m8, i talked to him as well, it is true
  • 2 0
How does he not win everything at the WCs? His cornering is so ridiculous.
  • 2 0
I ask myself the same, he's an incredible rider put perhaps lacks speed, it's about the time and not the tricks sadly.
  • 2 0
Shralping corners like that may be the funnest and sickest looking way, but it ain't the fastest. You won't see a cutty out of him when he's on a WC run.
  • 3 0
@Rubberelli: It's not the cutties, it's the switchbacks in in the woods that amaze me. He's linking those up at ridiculous velocities. He's probably ridden those little sections 100 times before the vid, but still so fast!
  • 2 0
@MorganBH: he's never ridden there before the video was shot!
  • 1 0
Because at that level it comes down to more than just raw skill (which Gwin, Hart etc also have by the bucketload). Fitness, race craft and experience also start to count and that is where I can understand a younger rider like him might still be lacking.
  • 1 0
@bonkywonky: he's lacking in nothing. He rips corners better than anyone, can jump anything, and he's one of the fastest guys on the planet racing WC, usually coming in a respectable spot.
  • 1 0
@Rubberelli: you might want to read my comment again, dear friend.
  • 2 0
Only way I can manual like that is playing Pumped 2 on my phone
  • 1 0
How many more video parts can he do if he gives up WC? (but continues to compete naked on a hardtail at Crankworx)
  • 1 0
It's cool to watch these newer bikes soak up bumps, they do it with aplomb.
  • 2 0
 Phil is the man!
  • 1 0
Propain is the bike company. Look pretty sweet. He fuckin rips
  • 1 0
