This marks chapter two in the book of Evil and I look forward to writing many new chapters with Cam as the star of this twisted romance novel. I have always been impressed by Cam, I mean who isn't? This guy should be on The Bachelor or something. Aside from the obvious, it's rare to find a guy who can 3 a 50 ft drop, yet be motivated, creative and business minded at the same time. If by some odd chance a female actually reads this which is highly unlikely, he is single, that's right! But as I said before, he is the star of a romance novel so it won't be easy...I would like to think the best part about Cam is how perfectly aligned his personality and riding style are with the brand. He will play a big part in Evil part 2, and I look forward to the adventures the future has in store and getting him on a straight bike soon. Thanks for finally sending the grips Cam, they will look good on the new carbon Undead! - Kevin Walsh, Evil Bikes |
We were lucky enough to work with Cameron from the start of his career and from that start it was apparent that the "the crazy" eyes would never disappoint. From highs to lows he's part of the family and we will continue to ride the roller coaster that Mr.Zink is on. - SRAM MTB PR & Media manager Tyler Morland |
I'm stoked to see Cameron riding for Evil Bikes! I think they've got a great brand image that will fit right into Cameron's new relationship with Monster Energy...combining two brands that like to go big, supporting a rider that likes to go bigger should bring some excitement to 2011!! - Sean Heimdal, Monster |
I feel more at home than I have in my whole career with my new sponsors. I have the most amazing group of loving sponsors and supporters backing me to help me live out my utmost potential. There are a ton of projects in the works with Freeride Entertainment and I couldn't be happier to start the year off filming and staying healthy before the contest season. The new help and support of Monster, Contour, Evil, Osiris and Deft Family will give me no excuses to accomplish everything I can dream up. ' Life is so good I can taste it in my spit.' -Layer Cake - Cam Zink |

This is another classic Martin Soderstrom thread. All you " Why would he do this " people, have some comon f*cking sense. Obviously Evil has an offer that Cam wants more than Corsairs. Leave it at that.
Cam is happy on Evil, and did not ask you for your opinions for his move. Shut up about it.
Great move as I'm concerned. I'd chose an Evil frame over a Corsair anyday.
Cam didn't put corsair on the map, he did help them out though with his performance last season. From what i know cam was getting paid very little by corsair (if anything at all). Corsair changed ownership last season, they are in transition with new developments and just dont have the money to pay someone like cam. Evil lost vanderham and smith, i imagine cam is getting those two guys salaries combined. pretty hard to say no to that
Evil is finally getting their stuff together after having issues with their asian manufacturer, so expect them to FINALLY start getting product out there
Last summer there was proto concepts of a carbon revolt, who knows if that is the next thing out from them or if it was just an exercise.
Evil since the beggining has had a 5-6" trail bike as a proto, they showed it at interbike a few years ago and then nothing was heard about it again. with cam now on their team, that bike, or something similar perhaps made of carbon (hence the carbon undead) will need to be released or at least have him ride it at the slopestyle events. We will be seeing a trail/slope bike from evil in 2011, if its put into production or not is yet to be unseen
i reckon they're quite underrated, personally, and signing up Zink will be a great thing for both sides
Also they currently have no bike suitable for slopestyle apart from the hardtail.. So bike wise corsair seemed more suited to what Zink rides. But hey, if he can make it work then go him..
All the best to Cam!
"There have been reliability issues with some of the Revolt frames, due to lapses in manufacturing quality control. The company has found a new vendor , and in 2011 we can expect to see the Revolt updated into a new carbon -frame DH bike that will be dubbed the Evil Undead".
It will be interesting to see what bike Cam will ride for slopestyle. Perhaps Evil will build a new SS bike or maybe they will tweak their all mountain rig to suit Cam for SS riding. www.pinkbike.com/photo/4119041
I heard a rumour the carbon frame may come out as early as spring 2011… Keep your chin up KW theirs light at the end of the tunnel!!!
They also havnt put anything new on their website for some time, i think more companys should take note of transition's web presence, they update reguarly, even if it's just a blog entry every week or two, there's always something to have a look at, evil have kept everything so under wraps about new bikes that they've lost all the hype and momentum they had as a brand.
Hopefully new ownership might sort this out and they can get back on it and turn evil into the brand we all got so excited about when we heard about a relaunch.
I saw a show on TV a few years ago about football agents in the UK. The golden rule was "Always take the money". If Nike want to pay you twice as much as Adidas but their boots are shit, just take the money, buy some Adidas boots and make them look like Nikes.
In this case tell them what bike you want and they'll get someone to make it and put their stickers on it. Change the colour, dropout design and subframe shape and no one will be any the wiser...

things happen for a reason
He's obviously good enough to make any bike work well for him, plus he can tell them what to make for him. I reckon they'll probably copy the Konig/Dominion design and paint it black in the hope no one will notice, or maybe pay Pablo a fat chunk of wedge to design something cool for them.
Be HAPPY for the guy. You know, maybe Evil's gotten a better customer service rep, and better manifacturing, as stated.
As I've said, unless you can match the level of performance of Cam Zink, or design and build a bike like the Revolt, don't talk shit about the two.
If a*sholes like you wouldn't comment like you did, there would be less of us " little brats " running around. Goes both ways, dude. Besides, I never once said I knew what the " reality " was. But, it's obviously got something Cam likes more than Corsair had to offer. So how about a*sholes like you stop commenting like that, and we can all get along ?
P.s. I'm more of an Intense kinda kid. Just saying I'd ride Evil over Corsair.
If you want to take a chance on the "maybe" Evil has gotten their shit together be my guest, but I am not blowing a large chunk of change on something that has question marks around it.
This "talking shit" as you call it is the reality of the whole situation, granted Zink has stuck with MTB through injuries and bad times. Its pretty obvious once again why Evil signed him.
And "a*sholes" like me can and will comment on posts like this because otherwise it would be diluted with young kids posting "OMG teh best riderz ever on 1 of da best biek brandz evar!!1!!1!!!!". Once people can open their eyes and see the how, why and brutal reality of things, they wold be better off.
You dont have to agree with the things I am saying but just please note I am not the only one saying these things
Jared Graves ? - Yeti. My soon to be 4X and Downhill bikes ? - Intense
Tory Nyhaug, and Barry Nobles ? Tory rides Factory Redline, Barry rides Factory SE Racing. I'm riding for Factory Avent.
" hopefully both can disappear back into obscurity. " It's comments like THIS, that piss people like ME off. Are you on a factory sponsorship ? Do you know how Sponsorship works ?
Would you like it if you were a rider of Cam if some dumbass comments on your bike company switch saying shit like you did ?
Cheers mate.
If you didn't UNDERSTAND, I'm stating that you saying a young kid, basicly me, would be screaming on here saying Cam Zink is the greatest person to ever live, is a crock of shit. And that it's just a marketing ploy to get little " Brats " like me, to buy their bikes because my favourite rider is on it. Being Jared Graves, Tory Nyhaug, and Barry Nobles, I don't want any of the bikes they have. So, no, it's not all a marketing ploy.
The " well are you this..... " tactic, is me trying to get you to think... What if you were in Cam's shoes ? 120g's a year from Corsair to do everything they want of you. Or 150g's a year to do Freeride and DH, etc. Being a sponsored rider can be a mindf*cker at times.
What would you choose ?
And I'm the kinda kid that gets my nose out of joint, because I hate shit talkers. Not because I'm just that stupid. Because people like you, ruin the reps of places like Pinkbike.
Now what would I choose? Seeing as you are still ignoring my questions above I will have to say the direction that actually puts you on the track to retire without a shit load of injuries and a nice fat savings account. Since that isn't a answer you posted I would go with Corsair.
Now this site was alot better back around 2005-2007, what ruined this site was the large influx of people that saw this "hobby" sport as something cool, while knowing nothing about it.
Now I will admit the comment above stating "So more little brats like yourself" was outta place and should have been reworded to "so more brats around your age"
I completely missed your questions.. My bad.
Zink wants something Evil has to offer. That's about the best answer anyone could give someone, because they aren't Cam Zink. And with all sponsorships, of course they are going to use the riders to promote their product.
Equal statement as above for the next question. He bounces because more companies are noticing him.
"hobby" sport ? Nahh, it's in the Olympics, it's just a sport.
He could of signed with anyone, but he signed with evil?? doesnt make sense to me
I do kind of question whether this was the right move for Evil though. Although there are rumors of future bike releases, at the moment, their flagship bike is a DH bike, so you would think they would want/need to maintain a presence in the racing scene. Steve Smith (in my opinion) is only going to get better and better as he matures and gains more experience. He's going to be on podiums next year, and bringing a lot more publicity to whomever he rides for, so I think Evil really made a mistake letting him go.
On another note I think Cam will do well on any bike and I'm sure if he wants a slope/short travel that they will be able to hook him up with one.
Now the brand has changed hands, the sponsorships have changed up, and they have moved their business to a new frame manufacturer. I look forward to seeing what they come out with for this year.
Oh and PS: Fanatik Bike Co. told me they would be bringing out the Carbon Revolt. We'll see if that holds true.
If you hire Cam, the biggest, the man, the guru, for a shipload of money, gold and love (good to you Cam! You deserve it all and I hope one day you'll be a miljonair, happy, kids, caring wife, car, cute doggy and most important of all good health...) atleast get a few propper respectfull photos from a well paid pro photographer. Not this ****. Send him to Europe and Ill make a view killer shots of him. And I know a hand full of photographers that would do the job just as well.
Please...
Be the best you can be all the time. Peace, Love and Epicness to you all.

1. Evil Imperial - Obviously the big old hardtail, everyone has seen this thing. i.min.us/ie5XXw.jpg
2. Evil DOC (Drug of Choice) - Also an older frame, no longer produced. i.min.us/ie1nRA.jpg
3. Evil Sect - All Mountain 140 mm proto. Some definite Revolt styling in it. i.min.us/icklYm.jpg
4. Evil Division - "Mini DH" 6" bike that would have likely looked similar to Sect. No pics, sorry.
5. Resident Evil - Still produced? It's a commuter w/ some awesome styling anyway. i.min.us/icoLzw.jpg
6. Evil Faction - The sick cromo DJ/Park bike. i.min.us/icprxs.jpg
7. Evil Sovereign - The all mountain hardtail. i.min.us/icoPFC.jpg
8. Evil Revolt - Probably their most well known bike. i.min.us/ie5Yb0.JPG
9. Evil Order - The aluminum Slalom/DJ bike. To be released soon? i.min.us/ie1JT8.JPG
10. Carbon Revolt (Possibly not called Revolt now) - Just a spy shot. i.min.us/icpnhg.jpg
The point i was making is they promised so much when they relaunched, but the sect is late (they told us ready in a year 2 years ago...), the division we havnt even seen, the order isnt in production and may not ever go into production as only a few were made as a 4x bike for MS/Evil team, they probably wont make the imperial again, the doc isnt really needed anymore with the faction in the range now, the revolts were late/not up to standard, residents were hard to get hold of for the first 3 months (so i guess you could say they were late too) which leaves us with them getting two bikes right, on time and up to standard. (sovergin and faction) both (nice riding, but) quite easy to produce being steel hardtails.
Just dont know why they didnt wait untill they had the sect and divison ready before the relaunch, it'd be more acceptable if they updated the website from time to time and let us know how it's going with the new models, i was really excited about the sect or maybe a division but now my moneys gone elsewhere.
just hope they get their act sorted out now they've got a new owner, i like evil's bikes, just think their company is a bit of a shambles atm
And about the website - I've heard from someone who knows people at Evil that they have a new website being designed. Hopefully it will be launched soon if they know what is best for their company and their public image. They've got hype back with the signing of Zink, now they just need to deliver on it.
