Life Behind Bars : California MTB Dreamin - Episode 2
Brandon Semenuk and Logan Peat hop in the famous Mustang Mach 1 and head all the way south from British Columbia down to Santa Cruz, California for some great mountain biking. This episode contains cops, greasy hash browns, epic trails, and a ninja security guard.
I liked it. It is a welcome change from the constant riding. Especially because I want to plan a trip like this for next summer and is a good way of seeing what that will be like.
Personally i like the talking. It gives us the chance to get inside the head of a professional mountain biker. I haven't watched it yet though so it could be 8 minutes of talking about brandons dog or something for all i know.
After finally watching it 9 hours later..... That was really good, I've seen Brandon ride heaps of times, its good to get a look at a different aspect.
I can't believe he was moaning about fuel prices either- firstly it's double the price here in the UK and secondly he's driving a bloody Mustang!! If money's that tight Brandon, why don't you buy yourself a lovely Prius!!;-)
I dunno I work pretty hard and can't do all that stuff. Guys got loads of talent too. Takes both and he's got 'em. Glad to see some more exposure on him. The finger in the coffee though? dude.
He rode the River Jumps at Whistler at every possible time he could from when he was 9, so having a legal set of sick jumps really helped him, and growing up in Whistler.
LOL, no one from California refers to it as "Cali."
Also, how bad is the winter weather in BC anyway? Winter in Santa Cruz is usually rainy as shit, not sure why this is a good weather destination. You want good winter weather, then you should head further south to SLO or SoCal.
IN EUGENE: ALWAYS TAKE YOUR BIKES INSIDE! Regardless of the rent a cop ninja, there is a reason why bike locks will guarantee their locks in every place but NYC and Eugene..... Too bad he didnt spend a day riding in Eugene, He was less than a mile away from the franlkin dirt jumps and 2 exits down I-5 is a little dh and trail section. But I guess the weather didnt look too good
These vids are great fun to watch and I'm eagerly waiting for the next installment! Its interesting to see what its like being a professional mountain biker who riders for living, reminds me of the life I wanted to live when I was in my late teens and early 20's (before college)!
Yawn. Best part if this whole vid was the last two minutes & it wasn't even Semenuk's or Peat's riding. It was some rando redneck gapping a 4x4 road. Kind of a waste of time IMO.
That is one of the lamest vids I've ever seen. Is he retarded?...drive to Cali in a fastback? Yeah, that's a great idea... and who gives a shit about all the traveling bullshit, SC has a lot of great trails, show some of those.
Have you seen the cash prize for winning Crankworx alone? Then add in all the other contests plus sponsorship bonus' for exposure in media and things are pretty cushy.
It seems like he was always rich, had the sweet ride right from the early days - so maybe he worked hard in some other way, maybe rich family, maybe smart investments. Prize money isn't going very far with all the travel etc these guys have to do. I'm guessing his main income now would be sponsorship, Red Bull has some very deep pockets.
Liked to see some lifestyle clips to, a bit like "Dropin-tv" that got me starting to ride bikes when I was a little boy
