Freeride Entertainment, the boys behind 'Where the Trails Ends' have decided to release their 2003 Red Bull Rampage DVD on Pinkbike. See what transpired 9 years ago in the deserts of Utah with the likes of Bender, Shandro, Klassen, Berrecloth, McCaul, Strait, Watson, Gracia and more. Same terrain as now, but look at the bikes?!
"Alright, you know what? Vred vrule vrampage is pretty fun. Its a lot of vreautiful womens here, we jump big criff and send eet. We ave big parties and thats from far, the best event of the year. You should grab a bike or buy a bike and practice and maybe you can hang out with us and have fun and we is going to show you what is MOUNTAIN BIKING." Sums its up pretty well haha.
Mate. bender is a pioneer of freeride!!! He may not of landed a lot but he showed how far is possible to push and not end up with two halves of a bike. part of that's down to the bike but without him to push it no one would know you can do 50ft+ drops
Back when Rampage was about roaming on ungroomed natural terrain on big bikes. Now guys are too cool to wear pads and venture into the unknown. One trick wins the whole thing.
i always loved these Rampage flicks, so much better than the last one with all the shirtless bros being shirtless and stuff. MORE RAMPAGE less specific footage of half naked bros please also show QUALIFIERS those guys have to try so hard and risk it all just to compete sheesh
it's amazing how the sport has evolved over the years, you don't realize it until you take a moment to stop and look back. I remember looking up this guys when I rode my Santa Cruz S8 with the red dorado forks just like CG hahahaha great times
Kyle Richey the 15 year old otherwise known as Hercules was insane. I was lucky enough to witness Rampage first hand back then, all those guys were pioneers and true legends. Thanks for inspiring us to go bigger!
yea dude, I went the year after this, weather was gnar, camping was brutal, but it was so worth it. we were so bummed when we heard there wasn't going to be a 2005.
Dear Red Bull
This is RAMPAGE... the essence, the feel and the creativity have gone out of it today compared to yesterday,
What you have changed it to is just another FMB competition.
Bring back the riders sculpting dirt for days to create a new line on the hill. Now that would be great broadcasting every day.
He used to run Avalanche forks too I believe. Im sure he went through a few pairs haha. But yeah Risse and Avalanche quite literally were motorcycle forks. And The Super Monster was huge too.
Amazing footage, it makes me remember the times when I started to ride my crappy old bike at my local trails as a little kid. These guys were my heroes.
Its weird seeing those little kids and thinking that they're probably about my age now haha. Its cool to see how far the bike technology has progressed over just 10 years.
elpinche, you need to work on your reading comprehension skills, I was saying that the other film companies vids were artsy boring and lacking the energy that freeride entertainment brings to their vids, not freeride as a discipline, the company.
the song being so weak and feminine is what killed it for me, filming and riding isnt everything, its the music and energy and pump factor. Yes I give loads of cred to silvia and anthill and larock for their amazing filming and editing skills, but I need some rock and metal to get me pumped for riding.
how in anyway am I a wanna be freerider? even like you said before, look at my user name, ENDURO, and arent we all wanna be freeriders anyway? freeriding is just having fun on a bike
Rampage is the sh*t!
you cant tell me that video is lacking energy and its boring. you need to work on your viewing skills.
