 Re-watch it a few times, they're not identical runs. I'm guessing if Sam would have replaced that tuck no-hander with a more difficult trick, he may have had a shot at 1st. Even though Sam will likely win the FMB this year, its quite apparent that Semenuk is still the top dog when he competes. Too the doubters, lets see how the next diamond FMB event goes!

 Despite being a Semenuk fan, I agree, Pilgrim's run was the better of the two. Congrats to Pilgrim for stepping up his game though.

 brandon's run hv more combo and oppo than pilgrim like oppo truck step up an truck off the drop, i aggree with @FRguild if pilgrim doing more difficult trick the result will different, tuck barspin maybe and why pilgrim rarely doing flipwhip?. Is Pilgrim officialy take the FMB champs this year? If yes that absolutely deserved it, he's never absence from podium in every contest except whitestyle. After 3 year FMB finally European rider on top! Congrats Sam "Hardtail Hero" Pilgrim!!

 You've got it there trickadoodle13. Oppo truck driver, and oppo three off the first drop. Plus last jump Pilgrim did a tuck no hander compared to Semenuk's flip whip. Oppo tricks are massive points. Which makes perfect sense. But sometimes I wish amplitude and bigger tricks were rewarded a bit more to compete with oppo tricks. We have guys doing triple whips, cash rolls, and double flips in competition, and they seem to just get brushed over. The rider field this year really is phenomenal. Judging must be a nightmare! Semenuk also just landed everything so smoothly. He's so consistent and dialed, it's great to watch. Missed Rheeder and Soderstrom out there.

 I really really really can't stand that second commentator... I just can't stand his voice and these stupid slogans that he says all the time, like he doesn't know anything else... I don't know if he tries to be Rob Warner or what, but he made me stop watching slopestyle!

 Brad Ewen's annoying haha. His voice just annoys me with his stupid ''Holy mothertrucker'' things, okay ''Shut the front door'' is classic but anybody could make that sound epic. Brett Tippie and Rob(or Lord) Warner would be f*cking amazing, come on Pinkbike! We want Tippie and Warner!

 Semenuks run was much better than Pilgrims. Oppo 3 beats a regular 3, oppo whip beats a regular tailwhip, tailwhip beats a tuck no hander, oppo truck beats a 3 by a lot, Pilgrims flip tweak off the drop beats Semenuks truck, Pilgrims 3 x-up beats the tailwhip by a little, they both did 3 downsides, flip whip beats a flip tuck, Pilgrims flair beats Semenuks 540.

 LOL at the kids who haven't figured out that unnatural tricks are harder... as it is in EVERY OTHER SPORT.

There's a reason why not many people do opp 3's and whips... and I bet every single person who says that opp. tricks are scored too high have never tried anything unnatural... Pilgrim's run was sick but he wasn't even close to taking over the top spot. Slope comps. are getting insane.

Also Brad cares more about how he is perceived (evident in his overuse of his stupid "taglines" especially in recent years) than how the sport is presented, which is terrible for slopestyle and needs to result in him being fired from any future announcing. Thank god for Black Sabbath.

 The judging is not JUST the tricks, but also the flow & execution.

 Not saying there is a right or wrong with judged events, but I agree with the results. Pilgrim 3'd onto the wooden thing, Semenuk Truck'd it. Pilgrim had a flip no hander at the end, Semenuk had the flip whip. I think they were very similar runs, but Semenuk one-upped Pilgrim just enough to get the nod. That said, that was hands down the best run I have seen in Sam Pilgrim's competitive career and his tuck no hander on the hip up top was the only nice tuck-no I have ever seen him do. Good on him.

 Judging was fine! If Pilgrim threw his bars instead of holding on to them and doing X-Ups then he would be on the top spot. Semenuk's run was sick, so was Pilgrim's, but the results make sense for sure.

There is no way pilgrim could win, style or no style:
First drop - Pilgrim regular 360'd, Semenuk oppo 360'd. (Semenuk scores higher)
Boner Log - Pilgrim regular whipped, Semenuk opp whipped. (Semenuk scores higher)
First hip - Pilgrim tuck no-handered, Semenuk tailwhipped. (Semenuk's trick worth more, Pilgrim may have got amplitude/style points on this one?)
Step-up - Pilgrim regular 360'd, Semenuk oppo-truck. (Semenuk scored higher)
Drop - Semenuk did an immaculate regular truck, Pilgrim flipped. (First time Pilgrim would score higher than Semenuk, a significant feature too.)
Second hip - Pilgrim 450 x-up, Semenuk downside-whipped. (Pilgrim may have scored higher)
Jump... - SAME TRICK?! 360-downsidewhip (I could be wrong, the commentator called it a decade...)
Final Jump - Pilgrim flip no-hander, Semenuk flipwhip. (Semenuk scored higher)
Quarter - Pilgrim flair, Semenuk 540 (Pilgrim probably took it, not very significant)

Pilgrim beat him on a maximum 3.5/9 features? And only 1/9 of his higher scores was on a significant feature.

 So in the Olympics or red bull high dive contests they should just throw the most crazy tricks regardless of form in the air and landing... For me, a smooth landing is very important. And what trick was so hard compared to Semenuck's except the flip and flair. Do the count for every jump, Semenuk wins and is smoother...
