Some flattering photos featured in the SRAM booth, taken during an all-day ride promoting the new GX Transmission group.

Whistler never fails to provide a good time, and this week had no shortage of fun for all in attendance. Crankworx was in full effect, with plenty of companies showing off new product while some of the world's best athletes pushed themselves in the bike park. It's always a colorful scene, so dig into some of the last bits from the week of mountain bike revelry.

Maxxis had a couple of these tire recycling posts set up in the Village.
photo
With plans to recycle the rubber into other non-waste products.
photo
Turns out the bike park is pretty hard on tires, so they ended up with quite the haul. Don't worry, I dug through the stack to make sure nothing usable was left behind.

photo
Surely influenced by our recently minted Mullet of the Day award, Devinci was giving out free cuts in the pits.
photo
Nothing better than a free mullet.

photo
Knolly looks to be cooking up some new product, with fresh colors and new lines in their tent.
photo
A straighter toptube than we've seen from the Canadian brand.
photo
And provisions for the newest mounting standards.
photo

photo
Found another custom SRAM brake bleed cap.

photo
Notes in the Norco booth. It's always cool to see the details at the beginning of a design process.

photo
One of many cool paint jobs in the Trek booth.

photo
No standalone booth for Specialized this year, opting instead for a takeover of one of the Evo stores in the Village.
photo
Which featured this adorable play-sand slopestyle course.

photo
Downhill bikes on a homemade rack = good rig. More of this at Truckworx.

photo
Chill and comfy in a little chair = good dog. More of this at Dogworx.

photo
Dual Bowheads mounted to the back of the van.
photo
And a single tent mounted to the bed of a truck.

photo
Another Frameworks bike in the wild.
photo
Up-to-date with the carbon rear end.

photo
Jekyll with a Roach pad.

photo
A tropical new colorway from Giant.

photo
And finally, this strange beast.
photo
Not exactly a bicycle, but a stand-up snowmobile is a pretty cool toy.

But for orange fork on it.

They also seem to have a normal stack at last. Can't wait.

@Brasher: Straight top tubes for the win. I ride a small '16 Trek Slash now and always dug the Remedies too. The new small Treks only come with bent top tubes and they're all hideous.

@lkubica: Is it really a Knolly if it has proper stack?
  • 1 0
@alexsin: At least they're holding on to their weird complex linkage (that I love looking at). Never change, Knolly.
  • 3 0
@number44: Their linkage is very good, nothing to change here. And everyone need to change from time to time, people who are too stubborn to change eventually loose.

...Some of those tires on the recycling post look 10x better than what are on my bike atm

 My questions about Crankworx are:

Where can I view the Deep Summer photo shows?

Where can I see all the dirt diaries (I found 3 of them on Youtube so far)?

How long did it take people to get home after Joyride (as in all the day tripping city folk)?
  • 4 0
Good point, usually they post the Deep Summer/Dirt Diaries immediately afterward.

As someone who built, owns, and races a car... that "SHAKE AND BAKE" bleed screw warms my heart.

Is that what it says? On my phone it was completely unreadable.

Why the hell would you make a stand-up sled? Just get a snow Moto. Same thing but better.

Maybe the same as a real Jet-ski, not a Sea-doo. I’ve never ridden one other then Wave Race on N64, but this looks like it would be the same for snow. You could fully move from side to side without a seat between your legs. I dunno, looks fun to try.

So how badly beat up is the park? I'm curious with Crankworx being earlier in the year now, will the trails be blown out right through August?
  • 2 0
A-line got perfectly tuned up before the events, and was riding really nicely when I left. Other trails are running nicely, braking bumps aside.
  • 2 0
why? Cannot ride small imperfections? Big Grin

What was up with the very minimal Crankworx coverage this year? I swear there was only like 20% of the content compared to previous years.

 Giant paint job is sick
