Not sure if the PB crowd is now more interested in watching videos of people doing things/riding trails that they can currently and directly relate to or what? That's what all of the "enduro" vids seem like to me...
Best part about the DH/FR vids is that they are typically more fantasy than reality for the average rider, and always provide awesome content to not only be stoked on but that also acts as a motivational tool of something to work towards, even if largely unattainable. It's like watching Kelly Slater surf instead of some random kook at your local break who is marginally better than you.
@nvranka You may have nailed it. It brings me to the question, if this doesn't, perhaps, contribute to my riding being less progressive than it used to be - perhaps I no longer see the inspiration I need to go big in edits from these guys, while I'm being flooded by edits of people riding what I can already ride, feeling I'm good enough (although much, much slower).
Here's one to proper big mountain riders! And swap Hunter's Enduro for a Demo please!
not to mention there's been a massive uptick in dirt jump/park edits over the years... definitely less freeriding being featured but that was the center of mtbing for a while, at least on PB anyways. Now its tight pants and 360 after 360.
I watch something like this or a WC DH, and I think that even if I get 20 lift serve days a year in I'm still not really hitting anything that requires a full-on DH bike.
Good to see good stuff like that pop up once in a while.
As much as I enjoy backcountry trail-riding... I'd rather do it mysellf than watch people do it, though I have a ton of respect for people doing it so much better than me.
But riding like this, or what Sorge, Doerfling etc. do - where I' just left wondering if that's really possible... that's where it's at for me!
Also, that song just blew my mind.
Let me preface this by saying that I, personally, have very broad taste in music. Whether freeride is or isn't 'dead'- associating it with music that is over 30 years old does it no favors in that regard. It may spark some nostalgia in old school huckers, but it isn't relevant to today's youth. That youth being the deciding vote as to whether freeride as we know it actually has a future. What you see as 'the best MTB rideing(sic) tunes ever'- is actually the soundtrack of freeride's funeral procession.
Now, slick back that mullet, shotgun a PBR, and neg prop me to oblivion for typing the truest thing you've read all day.
^^ well then now I don't really know what to do. I feel that I should neg prop you to oblivion but I don't want to give you the satisfaction. So instead I logged in to comment to tell you that I disapprove of your statement and you are a douchenozzle
"Feel-good" video of the season!!! What do you have blasting on the speakers before a ride? Here's a start to the list: Iron Maiden - "The Evil that Men Do"
