Many of us have already set foot in a Decathlon store. This specialist sports retailer is present almost everywhere in the world, and enjoys a good reputation as a source of value-for-money sporting goods. In recent years, the XC range, now known as RACE, has made great strides, and the top-of-the-range models (RACE 900 and RACE 900S and 940S) have been competing in World Cups for over a year now.

Until now, the All-Mountain range has consisted of four MTBs: the AM 50S, AM 100S, AM 100 Hardtail and AM 500S. The all-suspension bikes have not seen any real evolution in almost 2 years... And Rockrider intends to remedy this with the arrival of the FEEL range!

Downhill or uphill, the feel 900S is extremely agile.

Rockrider unveiled a prototype at last year's ROC d'Azur, and now the FEEL 900S is officially here!
The first model in the FEEL range, the 900S sets the ball rolling with the ambition of being the most versatile MTB (other models are planned within the FEEL range, including a more affordable aluminum version and one with more travel). Equally at home going uphill or downhill (this is the promise written at the top of the product manager's specifications). Oriented towards fun and pleasure, without forgetting performance! With its carbon frame and 140/130 mm travel, the FEEL 900S is versatile, playful and reassuring downhill.

A few more details

This MTB benefits from a full-carbon frame with 140mm of travel in front and 130mm in back. This bike therefore falls into the trail bike, all-mountain or even down-country category... we're not sure what to call it . Product manager Quentin Derbier, Four Cross world champion in 2018, explains that the philosophy behind this bike is to be as versatile as possible: that is, very good at pedaling while retaining a playful and reassuring downhill feel.

A great deal of care has gone into the finishing and protection of the frame:

- Internal cable routing
- Rear chainstay protector designed to reduce chain noise as much as possible (in addition to protecting the chainstay)
- Replaceable, screw-on downtube protection (which conceals a practical hatch for bike maintenance: internal cable routing and hoses)
- Integrated chain guide

Then a limited-edition FEEL 900S Team Edition with GX drivetrain, RockShox Pike ultimate, RockShox Deluxe ultimate, Mavic CrossMax XLR carbon wheels and Sram G2 RSC brakes.

 I was thinking 2008.
You are correct as they did make gen 2 nomad up to 2013.

@gcrider: TIL some bikes came with grease fittings on the pivots

Can we stop pretending like bike category labels are so difficult? A 130/140 full suspension bike is a TRAIL bike. End of discussion. No need to act all confused about down-country this or all-mountain that.

Particularly weird name for a particularly odd looking range of bikes. Fair enough.

Was hoping I'd be reminded of my old Saab. I was not.

I feel like ive seen this bike before

They are unattractive. That's just how I feel.

Seems like a good idea. Lots of similarly spec'd bikes at that pricepoint are by direct to customer brands. At least people buying these have a physical shop to return to should they need any assistance. I have no experience with their bikes so it would take a review to tell anything about the performance, but the geometry seems fine to me. Some people here in the comment section are put off by the bent top tube apparently, but I don't think the raised front section wouldn't bother as much whilst riding. Yet I would appreciate the pretty low junction to the seattube.

TL;DR: Bike seems decent. And it is good people can buy such a bike at such a price through a chain of physical stores.

I like it, looks like a more modern older gen process 111/134/153, all the latest geo updates and such, at a relatively decent price!

Apart from the curvy top tube this looks a lot like a Whyte T140. The rear end is identical, geometry is very similar too. Spec for the price on the limited edition is amazing. The look will probably divide opinions but you can't deny that they have upped their game.

It was all sounding quite promising, but then I saw the toptube...

Through my job I've learned to mean, not to feel. That's my opinion. So it should be either the Mean range, or the My Opinion range.

 Decathlon carbon fiber damn

That trunnion mount + gigantic yoke looks like a great way to blow up shocks.
  • 2 0
I love how the shock mount dangles precariously, yet in such robust fashion, from the proudly hunched top tube. It’s mildly grotesque. It has contrast. It’s art.

 God loves ugly.

"Available in Europe now for 3000€ (FEEL 900S) and 4000€ (FEEL 900S Team Edition)"

They should know better that if you put a tag price that is either 3000/4000 it sounds like you are making that up. 2975? 3990?

They are one of the worlds biggest retailers, and their success is specifically because they offer good, often innovative products with full support, service and advice for very affordable prices. As someone who's worked at Decthlon for 5 years and knows the company well, take it from me that they know a thing or two about pricing.

The examples you gave are just 3000 and 4000 but made to sound smaller. Every consumer knows that tactic. It's kind of refreshing to see a round number, even if if I can't believe there is exactly a 1000€ difference in value between the two!

One chainstay length across all sizes now seems odd and antiquated to me. That's probably a good sign for the overall state of the industry.

Looks like a 2010-era Kona made out of chocolate that was left in the sun and started melting...

I have a Decathlon AM 50s and the bottom hits rocks and roots all the time because it's very low (and it's not my climbing technique). Apart from that, with the upgrades I've done, it's a good bike. I paid 1200 € for it two years ago (let's say 1400 € with the upgrades). This one looks ugly and it's just too expensive: even if the specs are high, that's not what Decathlon is famous for and to my eyes (a customer who doesn't want to fork out thousands of euros for a hobby) this is just another one of those highly priced toys for the big boys.

Kona’s and Lapierrre’s love child from 2015 is all grpwn up now…….
  • 1 0
 I feel.......
  • 1 1
Is that a typo or is NX transmission coming out?
  • 3 0
It is not a typo, it just happens that transmission is already being used as another word for drivetrain. Now SRAM introduced it as a version for their gearing, but that's unrelated to the rear mech used here.
