I am really excited to have this video finished for you all finally! In this video I just wanted to show what I love to do with my friends - freeriding. This is filmed at the local mountains Ledgeview, Sumas and Vedder in the Fraser Valley.
I spent 5 different days filming this video, and its kind of like an unofficial sequel to my video '
Freeride Mountain Biking' that I released 2 years ago.
Riders:
Ethan Saathof
Jacob Dececco
Zack Schjodt
The song used in this video is called
Escape From Area 51

Also I think it's absolutely stupid to compare this to Rampage just because he included the keyword, "freeride" in it. Everyone has their own opinions of what freeriding is and that hasn't changed. Who cares.
Freeride is the definition of having fun riding a bike. I did get snubbed by considering Redbull Rampage as extreme downhill but i'm quite sure 90% of the people that comment on pinkbike would end up in the hospital riding to the finish line. (or trying to)
Rampage to me isn't freeride.....it's big mountain/SlopeStyle......Freeride is hard to define, but......it was created buy people who lived in a certain riding environment and had incorporated tricky structure/elements that actually......slowed you down because they were technical. What this video is to me, is a Downhill/Hit Trail video.
LISTEN Y' ALL, FREERIDE IS NOT A COMPETITION nor a SPORTING DISCIPLINE!
Freeride is exactly what the word says "free" + "ride". It means, to roam free, with no rules or directions. Is that so hard to acept?
I have no problem with edits, but make them a little original!
I agree they can do what they want with bike!
But buying 3000$ bike with complex setting for only ride polished trail is a little useless, less fun, more hard to ride and expansive!but i totally agree with people how like good equipment...but i don't understand!
I would say by your typical comment, your a mid 30's to early 40's guy trying to hold on to your youth and are trying too still keep up. That's fine but you sound like your compensating for something. My opinion of course, I'm sure your a nice guy and a fair rider.
I Love riding my bike, have since I started racing bmx @ 8. I was just merely expressing my dislike for your overall opinion. Its funny to think that because I only have 3 photos posted you assume I just ride BS. I'm sure you send everything there like a champ.
Trying to define the word or defend its existence seems kind of silly to me. It's called riding your bike and having fun.
Solid edit and riding though. I should get my butt off the shore and come down and check out the riding. Looks like a lot of fun.
"I look so awesome in T-shirt, neckbrace and helmet"
But I would have said it without the 'waaay' and with some "!!!" instead of "anyway".
Good riding and cool looking trails though.
Still.. Looks like a really nice place to ride and I enjoyed the shredding! Doesn't matter to me what bikes you were on or how much travel they have.. But definitely tone down the shots gazing into nowhere
Congrats on making the pinkbike front page. I wish I could some day (It'd pretty much make my life). I'm not going to pretend to be LaRocke or the Collective people, but I want to offer my criticism. That gap that you showed like 20 angles of in the middle was pretty massive, but I think that the multiple angles kind of took away from it.

Also, the specialized zoom in at the beginning made me cringe. Pinkbike users are sick of ads. I was ready for something refreshing, but it left a sour feeling because of that damn demo. Know your audience.
The music was too intense. You had 1 big gap, and one steep section that was impressive. The rest of it was easy-going trail with some flow. Be more humble. If you play music like that, you will make people expect big stuff. When there is little big stuff, people will be let down. Its a pretty simple concept (and very hard to put into action).
The filming style was pretty interesting though. Watch those Dudes of Hazzards, and maybe some Travelling Circus and you'll see how to make it more appropriate.
By the way pinkbike, freeride is a lifestyle. Riding a trail like that isn't freeride. I think Freeride requires creativity. Building a trail and then riding it is freeride. Not building a trail and riding straight through the woods/down a mountain side, urban area, is freeride. Seeing new lines on a trail that is normally plain, is freeride (unless you are in a skate park because then being creative becomes uncreative).
Overall, that video was alright. I think that some things took away from the overall potential of the footage.
For those unfamiliar to the area there are dozens of trails on the locations mentioned that are definitely in the "free riding" category.
Looked like you guys we're having fun" Freeride" anytime, anywhere all styles.
Perhaps call it "this is cool" and you'll be on to a winner.
So now you know. proceed.
good video but whats with the straight faces? not cool.
but nice edit, especially the camera work. vertigo @ 1.46 was awesome!
