Talk about neck and neck through the whole race. Jump into the GoPro POV from 1st place and 2nd place in the Women's Elite division between Vali Höll and Nina Hoffmann for a side by side perspective. The two were back and forth the whole way down on the track with Vali Höll inching out Nina Hoffmann in the final section of the track.—GoPro Bike
Interesting perspective. There are a few critical corners at Fort William, they went to and frow on them, trading blows.
Then Nina went more inside in the wall ride then off the step up to Scotland arch jump Vali pulled out the victory.
This showed how small the margins are on such a long track.
Fort William... super gnarly but really comes down to some bike park corners, pedalling and a wall ride!
Vali won it on motorway section then, Interesting. I wonder if tyre choice and air pressures played a part or she pumped the landings better. Looked like she went deep quite a few times though.
I think it was the wall ride into the new stream gap that won it for Vali, she pulled back the time she was behind there and then the extra speed she carries from it into the motorway just kept increasing the gap to the end.
Actually, timing Nina on the road cap, she has 1.5sec advantage. By the time she gets to the wall it is down to 1sec, but the little drop after the wall, almost all is lost, so, it seems she already lost speed before the wall, which is then carried all the way down.
Looked to me that Vali road the jumps lower and hit the transitions better. But as Nina said at the race, she lost it on the top section - bit faster up there then the sections she was faster on would have counted for more.
Super cool to see the POVs synced up
Nina definitely lost speed in the berms after the road gap. So Vali was able to slowly pass here in the speed section.
Ninas only mistake. I guess she still had the world champs crash in mind.
It seems Flight Attendant gave Vali H. the edge to win the race over Nina H. since she was behind, and she came back in the motor way where FA provided the advantage.
Whether it’s the bike or the racer, Nina seemed to pick up time in the chunk and lose it in the smoother sections.
I’d say she goes ahead at about the 2:10 mark and Vali catches her at 4:27.
