by Michelin Tires
Jérôme Clementz has set up his new team for 2015. Managing his own structure, Jey had the opportunity to choose the best partners that share his vision of the sport and provide the best product to enjoy riding while pushing the boundaries of the sport. This is why he has chosen MICHELIN MTB tires for 2015.

Jerome rides Michelin

Jérôme’s main objective in 2015 is the Enduro World Series which he won in 2013. "I’m happy to work with a brand well known for the quality of the product and the development.” he says about the collaboration with the MICHELIN brand; Both happy with early pre-season testing, Jérôme and Michelin will continue to develop more race product.

 Q. What tires do you use?
Michelin. 1%
Not Michelin. 99%
  • 40 1
 What tires do I use?
Is there a category called "whatever is 50% off on sale"?
  • 5 0
Couldn't agree with preach's comment more. Maybe I'm doing myself a disservice but I go for what ever has the right size and is on sale!
  • 14 1
I'm not paying 80$ for mountain bike tires.
  • 7 1
Oh man, I tried buying tires on sale for quite a while. After about 4 or 5 sets, I realized that they're usually on sale because they're garbage! Ahem, Continental, ahem!
  • 3 0
I am more interested in acquiring a Michelin flat brim hat than a set of their tires. Unless, like @preach said, the right size are heavily discounted.
  • 6 0
There are good discount tire deals but you do need to use caution. It's usually the tires that don't sell that are on sale and generally the tires that don't sell don't sell for a reason. Really nice fresh tires will blow your mind if you are used to a thrashed set. I highly recommend investing in tires. It's perhaps one of the most important parts on your bike.
  • 6 0
It's the only contact you have with the ground. It's worth spending a little extra money on them
  • 2 0
 agreed @DARKSTAR63 and @dk1996
I'd rather have a full SLX bike with great fresh tires over a full XT bike with worn discount rubber.

"Jérôme’s main objective in 2015 is the Enduro World Series which he won last year."

Really?...I thought Graves won it. Man, what's a brother gotta do to get some notoriety around here?
  • 5 1
 Him and Martin Maes both...
  • 5 1
Got it twisted it says he won 2013 EWS

It was amended to reflect the correct information.

Jerome Clementz eats Frosted Flakes, which cereal do you eat?

 mostly dirt, sometimes blood.

Schwalbe Magic Mary + Rock Razor = dope tire combo
  • 5 0
I just recently went for that combo and love it. I was on Maxxis tires as long as I can remember, I'm impressed so far. With the stickier rubber they don't roll as well as my previous set up but spider man levels of grip.
  • 4 1
Schwalbe Nobby Nics + Rock Razor on the rear for trail riding.

Schwalbe Hans Dampf's + Rock Razor on the rear for DH riding.
  • 2 0
Magic Mary Front, Wild Grip'r rear - done
  • 1 0
I want to try the Magic Mary + Rock Razor Combo as well, though I'm worried about rear brake traction.

I really like the semi-slick with aggressive cornering knobs concept, and only Schwalbe makes it in 26! So they get my money to start this season.
  • 5 0
Schwalbe tires are great for a few rides. They just don't hold up a long a Maxxis. At that cost I rather run a tire that will last a bit more. Colorado has dry, rocky soil that just blows thru tires.
  • 8 1
I didn't read the article but based on what I read from his SRAM wheel test I think I can guess that he loved all of the tires equally.
  • 7 0
WTB Vigilante in the front. then a WTB Trail Boss in the back. thats all the wtb offices rides
  • 1 0
I can definitely vouch for this combo.
  • 8 0
I for one use my bike for "intensive leisure"
  • 7 0
 Dry- Maxxis dhf
Wet- Schwalbe magic mary
tup
  • 9 2
those that costs less than my motorcycle or car tires...at least
  • 3 0
Still haven't found a better front tire than Michelin's Wild Rock'R 2 Advanced Reinforced for the trails in Socal I like to ride.
  • 1 0
just picked up a pair of those! stoked to mount them up
  • 1 0
Same. I got them front and back, both in the firmer compound and they are amazing. The extra braking power alone compared to the HR2s I had before was worth it.
  • 1 0
I normally ride a Schwalbe Racing Ralph up front with either a Spec' Ground Control, Conti Race King or X-King in the rear. I do like the X-King. In the winter I run a Maxxis Minion DHF up front, it's been the best snow tire I've tested, quite a bit better than a Hans Dampf too.
  • 1 0
I ride the tire that works best for me. It might be what everyone else is using or it could be some less popular tire out of left field. If it'll last at least 6 months, provide decent grip, and not make me sell a kidney to afford it then I'll use it.
  • 4 0
Yes mr michelin Thank you mr michelin
  • 4 0
Spec butcher front and slaughter rear 27.5 x 2.3
  • 1 0
Spez tires are great and cheep too!
  • 1 0
If they made the Slaughter in 26 I would try it. Oh well.
  • 1 0
 They make a 29er slaughter . . . . . . Sorry
  • 5 0
 Bontrager tires.
  • 3 0
Does Mr Clements prefer butter side up or down? I need to know so I can follow in case it makes me faster.
  • 2 0
Bontrager XR3 Team Issue 29x2.3, Maxxis Ikon TR 3C EXO 29x2.35 and 29x2.2. Might throw on some Contenintal X-Kings if I get bord.

I like buying my tires off pinkbike

Bike: 2015 Giant Trance SX. Tires: Maxxis Minion DHF 2.3 3C front, WTB Breakout 2.3 Fast Rolling rear.
  • 3 0
Muddy Mary 2.5 front and rear. Plow machine
  • 1 0
I love my Mavics. I really just like the look of the half yellow lettering... They performed pretty faithfully for a couple weekends of hard riding, then 3 flats in one day.
  • 1 0
Three flats in a day is bad luck or something wrong with your setup.
  • 1 0
Bad luck/pressure a smidge too low. Hadn't flatted at the park all season. Saved it all for one day I guess
  • 1 0
WTB Vigilante 2.3 Front & WTB Breakout 2.2 or Geax Goma 2.25 rear. Really really liking the Goma, it's like a narrow Minion that rolls better!
  • 3 0
Big diss not including WTB on the "what tires do you ride" list.
  • 3 1
Why was the survey done in French???
  • 1 1
 Maybe because he's French?
  • 2 0
No matter who in particular is pimping for this tire maker, Michelin is still a French company.
  • 1 0
Pinkbike, how about you shut up about what Jerome likes and give us some original opinions.
  • 1 0
2.7in wide Kenda Blue Grooves. They run the same diameter as a 27.5 but on 26in wheels.
  • 2 0
 WTB Vigilantes for the win!
  • 1 0
Hutchinson barracuda ust. Best sleeper tire out there. And at $25 a pop, how do you say no.
  • 1 0
I have been riding Barracuda's for a while and the Octopus before that. They are both no longer made.
Where are you finding the barracuda's for $25? Are they the 2.3?
You may want to keep it a secret.
  • 1 0
2.5 MRC casing. Which was the medium compound I think. I'll play nice and share with everyone. (they are $30 now)

Is that Gomer Pyle in the first pic.?
  • 1 0
"Jey had the opportunity to choose the best partners", that is why he is not running a Lefty this season
  • 1 0
Michelin wild grip'r slays for all mtn aggro riding . Maxxis and kenda are made by the same supplier..
  • 1 1
As for trail/"e-word": I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Maxxis Ardents. Started using them in southern AZ but they work great in CO too.
  • 1 0
I live in Phoenix. I've tried the Ardents and personally I find them "over rated". It's an okay rear tire, but not nearly enough grip up front...
I think they suck.
  • 2 2
Can't beat minions, at least for SoCal riding. Most predictable drift out there.
  • 8 3
How do you get those little yellow buggers to stay attached to the wheel?

waaaa waaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaa....

I'll be here all week, try the veal.
  • 2 0
 French?
  • 1 0
Socal..minion dhf 2.3 (wishn for 2.4 soon), bontrager xr4 rear
  • 3 1
 No Minion, no care.
  • 2 0
 No Michelin, no cry.
  • 3 6
 Kendas.

Because let's be honest: hype aside Maxxis flat out suck. And I'm talking about ALL their tires.
