So is dirt jumping, 4X, etc.
I just don't understand the thinking that just because some one rides a bike on a ramp or concrete that its automatically a "bmx thing".
Does that mean when a bmxer rides dirt jumps, drops, or ladder ramps it's more of a "MTB thing"? Or is it still BMX? Downhilling, 4x, dirtjumping, etc. all came from BMX. So by the same train of thought when you do any of the above, is it still more of a "BMX thing"?
More and more MTB is adopting ramps, wallrides, etc. Does that make slopestyle a "BMX thing"? Barspins, tailwhips, backflips, frontflips.....in face EVERY trick done on an MTB came directly from BMX.
So why is it that when MTB riders decide to hit the pavement, they are automatically branded "BMX"?
If you shred, you shred!
The obstacles you ride does not define the discipline of the sport. The bike you ride does! If you ride an MTB, it's an MTB. Not a BMX bike and vice verse.

Man, you know what's up ratt bones!
What about trials riders? Does that mean that Danny Macaskill is a bmxer?

I totally respect this riding to the fullest i just kinda think to myself, these dudes are running rigid, 24's, brakeless and call themselves mountain bikers. I mean you see Hauck out there thrashing everybody and he's got sus fork, 26's and a brake, preference? Yes, but it seems to me at least it only goes to some extent until it is too far
- + 0
ohh yee i remember when everyone was goin down to toronto for this.. this vid has some sick riding, i wish i went last timee
- + 7
Some mtb tricks came from motocross aswell as bmx. In my opinion MTB is a mix between BMX and Motocross, negitive props i asume?
- + 5
Yes, there are so many things wrong with that statement, but their all right as well. Guess what BMX stands for? Bicycle Motorcross DURRRRR
- + 8
Wow, looks like we've come full circle.
I guess when BMXers ride street they shouldn't be calling it BMX anymore.
Since they aren't racing on bicycles, it's hardly Bicycle Motocross.
Therefore, there is no possible way that riding an MTB in the streets could EVER be a "BMX thing".
ROFLMFAO!

Exactly my thoughts, rattbones. Just as MOUNTAIN BICYCLES are not called mtb on the effing street. Only on mountains
- + 5
ohh lmfao this was a different jam..
dammit i feel like a retard,
i wish u could delete a comment but i replied so u cant.
- + 2
BMX is a type of racing so when they give MTB shit about Mountains we need to remind them to go back to the race track. The riding in this video is sweet and done on big bikes. If they do it well dont judge them for it because of wheel size
- + 2
What's wrong with skating? Just cause you ride a bike means you're not allowed to skate? What about snowboarding, wake surfing, surfing, etc.? I do all these things.
- + 1
Hey everyone ^ Can you give me some names of the bikes theyre riding love to get into that kind of biking? Help?
- + 3
Black market bikes, Atomlab Bikes, DMR Bikes, Identiti Bikes, NS Bikes, Union Street Bikes, and I'm sure there were a few more.
Check other sites like www.vvcforce.com, www.plussizebmx.com, www.stuffedbeaver.com, and of course www.thrashbike.com

"So is dirt jumping,"
Yes DJ on an MTB is also retarded and pointless. Whats your point.
BUY a BMX. They're not too f*cking smal;l!

Probably the most ignorant thing I've read all week.
When people say things like this, it's any wonder why they ride a bike in the first place.
- + 0
Explain it how, Like slow? I don't get it. My reply is self explanatory, and in perfect English. What part do you not understand?
- + 4
Willsoffe, are you serious? You don't get it?
Well I suppose riding and racing downhill on a mountain bike is also retarded and pointless by your own logic. Didn'tcha know? That came from BMX too. Asshat!
Some people just don't get it. This is elitism at it's finest. Funny thing though, you have a girls hairstyle and your personal P.O.D. is a bunch of naked men in the woods. Your confusion on life accurately reflects your confusion on what riding a bike is all about.

Fair enough if you think DH is pointless. But I wouldnt ride a BMX downhill and act surprised when people told me its not the right tool for the job. I am well aware that DH is decended from BMX (I own a copy of "Joe Kid on a Stingray").
As for a girls hairstyle, I think that personal attacks are a pretty poor way to win an argument. I happen to like it.
As for my POD, I think that raising money for charity is a good thing and I think more people should buy the calender. Perhaps you don't. Also if looking a naked men makes you uncomfortable, that may be because you are gay.

Funny, I said nothing about being gay. You like what you like man. I have nothing against you, or any gay rights charity you choose to raise money for.
At least you're doing something positive for one of this world's many minority groups.
- + 0
Really? Why do you have a girl's haircut then? Are you one of those "metrosexuals"?
Well, you look awfully feminine, and having a bunch of naked men as a favorite P.O.D. doesn't help much.

Not to put a rain on your parade, but I seriously doubt that would happen.
I don't mean to get in the middle here, but that's very very unlikely.
- + 2
"Hmmm, even though hes is the DMR team? ok....
Not sure who you are talking about. The argument is between Streetdude and willsoffe. Yet I ride for DMR Bikes.

Lets do it.
If I win, I quit bitching about mountainbikes being used as BMX's and if you win you quit bitching about hairstyles and metrosexuals and gays?
Best of 3?

ROFLMAO!
I think you would need to come down to LA. If you are going to challenge some one, you gotta step up to the plate.
Also, a bike is a bike. Street/dirt jumping, etc. has been done on MTB's for about as long as kids on BMX bikes have been doing it. Maybe not as in depth, but it has always been there. At least now technology has caught up and bigger bikes can now take the abuse. That's the sole rason why the sport has hit a sudden progression. Your whole attitude about it is that of an elitist standpoint. As if by saying "that's BMX" is an insult. Like bmx is a lower standard or something.
Your the kind of kid who thinks things have to be a certain way and completely forgot why you started riding a bike in the first place.

I'll take him on. No worries. I've always wanted to visit LA.
BMX has a far higher average std of riding than MTB. Thats a fact. MTBers are throwing double tailwhips, BMX are throwing quads, MTBers are doing 720's, BMXers are doing 1080's. Its not a debate thats just fact. You can ride whatever you want wherever you want; I just think that trying to say BMX and MTB DJ/Skatepark/street are different sports just because of a 6"/4" difference in wheel size is stupid.
I hope I havent forgotten why I started riding. I had a wicked time riding street today and there is f*ck all to ride here in Swansea and I had a rad time on Sunday in the pissing rain, freezing my bollocks off just cos I was on a bike. I honestly am passionate about the sport; I just wouldnt use the wrong bike for the task...

and do you know why the average standard of BMX riding is so much higher? Because the bikes are much smaller and easier to throw around than MTBs, it takes 2xs the effort to tailwhip an MTB than a BMX so that would explain why BMX is always gunna be a step above MTB. And why are YOU now saying "You can ride whatever you want wherever you want; I just think that trying to say BMX and MTB DJ/Skatepark/street are different sports just because of a 6"/4" difference in wheel size is stupid."? You were the one saying DJ on an MTB is pointless.
- + 1
Ok, willsoffe. You've made an awesome contradiction. Kudos bro. Obviously a smaller bike is far easier to throw around, spin, etc. How that becomes a higher standard is just something you've got going on in your head. Obviously MTB's are never going to be as on top of "tricks" as BMX is. That's a no brainer. However, it does not mean that riding street/park/dirt, etc. is any less important or below or above. It's your mentality that's being called into question here. You can explain the obvious all you want, but it hardly changes your one way street of thinking.
It makes no difference what bike you ride and for what task.
If you shred, than you shred. Plain and simple.

Ratt Bones, I'm down. I think he's be pissed when he finds out who I am. LMAO!
Willsoffe, all you have to do now is keep your word. Just PM me your flight info. Hell, I'll even pick you up from LAX myself. Chances are even better that your just a keystroker. Tough guy behind the keyboard.
Don't bother wasting all of our time from here on out unless you can man up to your word.
- - 1
Who are you then? I'd love to come out to LA. I'll work on the £££ situation.
I'll ride my best, I cant promise I'll manage to impress you, but I'll give it a go :-)
You could always come out here? Weather is crap but I imagine its warmer and less snowy than LA???

you care for your bike..for its what allows you to be SICK and express yourself.
you never throw and thrash it around..just cause you didn't make a jump. I would never throw my bike like that....I care for it, clean it..tune it. Its my babe.
You can be the MOST BAD ass rider on this planet and do tricks no one else can...but as soon as you throw that bike...you're TRASH!
nice tricks though...for the rest of them

Yeah, and Black Market picked that guy up right after that event.
Maybe throwing your bike gets you a hook-up!
- + 1
It was announced after that he was placed on the team, and to kn knowledge, it was at that event where the offer was made. My info comes straight from the source, so I'm pretty sure I'm right on this.
- + 2
I'm sure Matt allready was on the team, because he told me that, Carter told me he just got Matt and Pasha in his team (at the jam), and Matt was allready hooked up with lots of blkmrkt stuff (like the MOB frame, Contraband fork, stem, bars, and some other stuff)

people who through there bike (+have a mullet) can eat a dick. no repect.

hardtails dont do all the same things as bmxers. only the best hardtail riders can do stuff thats actually considered difficult on a bmx. that pro hardtail video would only be an amateur bmx vid
- + 1
nice thanx for uploading it to pinkbike vince! can't wait till next years Thash Bike Jam! greetings from holland

what ever happened to freedom... dont get me wrong ppl should be wearing helmets, especially with some of the stuff they where pullin but i mean it is there own health, and they arnt hurting anyone but them selves by choosing not to wear a helmet. let ppl make therre own decision
- + 6
Alot of young kids get infuenced by the 'cool older guys' not wearing helmets and then dont wear them themselvs so it is irresponsible in a way... but i know what you mean
- + 7
its not a freedom thing, if mullet master up there squash's his skull tryna 180 a railing five times, someones gotta pay for his vegitated body to stay on life support for five years. Then his delinquent parents, who are on town counsel, would get biking banned fron urban areas because "its a public danger, and the kids are hurting themselves".
- + 0
its still mullet master fault if he's not wearing a helmet. It was his choice to put one on or not. And just because they dont have a helmet doesnt mean it cant be a VOD.
- + 4
where did you see the RST?? i was there and no one was riding RST. maybe you got confused with the X-fusionn Velvet? (which is a f*cking expensive high end fork), or with Toff's Kowa (some weird Japanese fork)
- + 6
IMO we've come to a point where wheel size just doesnt matter any more. steet is street, trails is trails no matter how big your wheels are!
be nice to see a vid like this with 20,24 an 26 ridin together
