That really is some incredible riding. He hit some of those corners so hard! Mike Levy was just asking if we want to see more videos like this one in his poll, and I gotta say, this video makes a pretty good case for a firm YES.
The horizontal angle of the bike was cool, takes loads of skill to pin a turn like that. This is where I get, what is it you folks call this neg something?...anyhoo. The soft sand furniture from the how to roost vid has kinda spoilt the cool factor of MTB for me today I hope this wasn't one of those situations, but this bit of trail looks hella similar to that berm in the other vid.
I know 'all that Sioka bloke does is bang on about BMX and steez' BUT this is what a real bar drag looks like (i wish i could find the video for this, I think it’s on PA woods summer of ____? because he leaves grooves in the top of the roller and STAYS ON!) best I could do is this photo www.pinkbike.com/photo/1780407
Peace and love fellow PB nibblers, Keep it real... keep it flat.
I don't understand what do you consider a "REAL helmet" Other then the last jump i don't see anything that merits a full face helmet. Plus the stuff he rides at full speed on that bike while using a full face most riders can't even do a full DH bike. I think he is well with in this realm.
what does your bike have to do with him? Also I guarantee, a top-line 5-yr-old enduro bike is not holding you back, you are. quit your bitching and go ride it.
Hi, it takes place in department of Drôme, North Valence, near Romans in a area of barrows under pins and oaks with trails on solid sand (molasse), up and down with a multitude of trails. A very small spot where people usually ride, run, after the day-job and during the week-end. Few mountainbikers (XC) and BMX ; i've discovered the spot in 1997 with my first DH-Bike...The place is more pleasurable today with newTrail bikes or Enduro bikes.
I started the video, then un-muted my computer and heard Rage Against the Machine, which I thought went great with the vid and wondered what you were talking about... then I realized that Spotify was playing Rage and upon pausing Spotify, I saw exactly what you were talking about.
Trying to make sure I understand the comparison: EWS is a race! Video is of guy riding bike in short segments as fast as he can to get footage, then repeat. EWS riders don't know the trail they are racing. Video of guy is a trial he created / knows very well hence the " Making of thisVideo". Yeah, not to sure of the title. Should be "Local Trail being ripped"
Actually, you are aloud to practice the tracks in the EWS. It's just that one won't remember every turn and feature because the length of trail that one is racing on. Not to mention that the racer's need to conserve energy for race day.
I see where golden is coming from. When I read the title, I thought that this would be the speed that EWS riders race in an actual stage, but rather the video's showing you the speed that this particular EWS rider has. And he's fucking quick, whether he knows the trail or not.
@dualsuspensiondave - I don't think this is 'the speed that top EWS guys race at'. This is a good indication of the skill level and flat out speed these top level racers are capable of. But nobody is keeping that level for an entire course. Nobody.
@dualsuspensiondave The point I'm making here is going by the title "This is EWS trail speed" indicates to me we were going to see guy riding the EWS races charging, not his local trail , pump track. When filming you set up a single shot, and charge that as hard as you can, which is what they did here with this film, with many shots. Now, I think your point is that this is how fast EWS riders ride all the time on a 5mile stage. Riding the Big Mtn Enduro the last two years, I can tell you that this riding is not the kind of riding you find on race day. Race day is conditioning, stamina, calculating risks, Endurance. Wrenching at the CO freeride festival, these Pro's Pro's are racing, not having an"playful ride". Dude rips, not trying to take that away from the video, it's more playful ripping then race ripping.
One has to comprehend a sentence by what it says without adding extra words to fit one's own mind. Some things you are saying are true (endurance, calculating risks, conditioning). That however doesn't mean these guys aren't pinned. Calling this a "pump track" is a huge exaggeration. Having the opportunity to ride with a top 30 EWS racer and pick his brain on the 2014 season and experiences brings me to different conclusions than you. We can talk about it more next season at BME and EWS in person. Would be cool to have a beer together after racing. Keep your eyes peeled for some big news on a new factory team for 2015. Cheers!
first off i doubt many would keep up with him...but the reason i like this video is that it's something i can relate to and seems somewhat attainable. loved it
That was such a lame attempt to recreate Matt Hunter's bar drag. Really took away from the vid for me.....that and the crazy bitch screaming in the background
