Bike Check: Vali Höll's YT Tues Race Bike

With the 2024 team rumours season reaching its conclusion it's finally time we get to see the fresh bikes of those switching teams ahead of the upcoming race season. Following the news that Vali Höll has made her way back to YT in one of the biggest team moves of the silly season, we have grabbed the details to find out how the current World Champion and 2023 World Cup overall winner is speccing her bike for 2024.

Swapping to a new team and bike can be a big change for a rider, but apart from the swap from a Trek Session frame to the YT Tues, Vali's setup is very similar to last year's.

While the rest of the team is running Fox suspension Vali has been able to bring over the RockShox Boxxer and Super Deluxe coil setup she was running on her Trek Session last year.

The addition of an Ochain device is perhaps the biggest departure on Vali's Tues for the start of 2024.

 Probably has something to do with the fact that the mullet Tues runs an imperial shock so she'd be stuck with a Vivid Coil, and I doubt Rockshox would want it to look like one of their top sponsored riders had chosen a decade-old product over the newer one that is supposedly loads better. I'd imagine the new Tues prototype will allow for either full 29 or mullet on the same frame to get around this issue.

 Apart from the skunkworks suspension guts, it's a WC winning bike set up that anyone could source and many can afford. Still a value.

 @Bad-Mechanic: I am a devoted follower of Craig. He is an artist with shims. I currently have a shock (CR) in his hands for one of my customers. Unfortunately, his way of selling his services is the biggest hurdle to his success. He is almost unbearable on the phone and you should see his estimates. They go on for days and even as a professional in the trade I have a tough time deciphering what is needed, and what it will cost. Just about every customer I've sent his way goes on his website and can't make a next move under the information paralysis. Like all great artists, he can be an outright PITA to deal with. I wish I could take a course from him or otherwise learn the Jedi "Chooner" ways but as with most things that are mysteriously incredible, the art of his work will cease to exist once he retires which will be soon. I will forever be a devoted fan of his. Just need to pony up at some point and get a full setup from him so I can have the ultimate suspension time capsule.

 Vital's been talking about them for a while. Maven, supposedly a complete break from the modulation offered on the codes. They bite hard and fast, and the bite point doesn't wander.

 @Leethal-1: Look at the WC DH paddock, a lot of riders are running the O-chain. No way a small company like that is paying all those riders other than giving them to pros for free. Listen to the podcast YT is fully open components team, Moir said the same thing.

 It makes the rear suspension just work better, been running one for two seasons. Price is hard to swallow, but I def think it was worth it.

 155 psi in a dual crown seems pretty high. I would run 90 psi in a 40; why is the Boxxer so much higher, even with the bigger legs?

 If I had to assume it would probably be for the same reason the 38 needs so much more pressure than the zeb. The 38 uses a smaller air spring piston (and a larger negative spring relative to the piston size but that’s not super relevant here for this comparison) so it needs more pressure to achieve the same force on the piston. I’d assume the same is true for the boxxer and the 40, just reversed.

 i run 130-140 psi with 2 tokens in the former version of the Boxxer....huge negative air spring.....I'm guessing the updated version continued on this trend.....plus she rides harder/faster/ bigger than most dudes you'll see on the serious trails at any bike park, so probably needs the support and lily has custom tuned damper for exact feel she wants...i run only a 400# spring on my coil too on My YT, but she's at 425......btw Im 200-215lb guy who's reasonably quick at the park on both black/double black tech and the biggest jump lines....just not world cup fast, eh?

 She is also a super strong pro-racer hammering down brutally harsh tracks. If the average rider (even if an amateur racer) hops on a pro's set up, its probably going to feel harsh and shitty. That's going to contribute a few PSI to the difference me thinks.

 @ShawMac: Sometimes pros even say their setups feel harsh and shitty until they're up to speed. I ride my 40 at like 70 psi which is laughable.
