From World Cup downhill tracks to your local trails and dirt jumps, Kirt Voreis has done it all. His two wheeled weapon of choice at this point in his career is his Niner Trail Bike, no matter what he’s riding or where he’s headed. Equipped with a Tellis dropper post and the all-new SDG Bel-Air V3 Max, Kirt knows he has a lightweight saddle that won’t get in his way while pedaling. It's built tough enough to deal with a few missed landings while being comfortable enough for all day trail rides in the So-Cal hills.

Kirt put the V3 Max through the ringer and rode it all... and he did it in a way only Kirt can.

Bel-Air V3 Max
Bel-Air V3 Max

The new V3 Max is Pure Comfort.

Utilizing the same performance driven base as the original Bel-Air V3, the Max was specifically enhanced for long, pain free days in the saddle. It’s a slimmed down, shorter version of the legendary Bel-Air series, an evolution designed to match today’s modern bike geometries.

The new ATMOS shaping technology eliminates the need for bumpers, staples or glue leaving you with a seamless Vacuum-sealed cover.

With increased Injection EVA padding, a deeper, more profound channel relief and new rear rise platform, the V3 Max extends comfort, control and power from the seated position. All day trail rides, e-powered or not, no longer have to be a pain in your butt.

Saddles, helmets, floor-wax, tax software...don't care what it is. I will watch any promo video with Kirt in it.

Personally, I would draw the line at a video of Kirt waxing his hardwood floor.
  • 2 0
@WRCDH: What's wrong with you? I would watch Voreis watch paint dry.
  • 1 0
@mi-bike: I’m pretty sure you’re thinking of a different type of hardwood floor =P

Keep in mind Voreis is almost 50 and continues to kill it!

They called him "Uncle Kirt" on the mic during his pro DS qualifying this afternoon. Great to see Cathro, Kerr , Wyn, and a ton of legends pushing their bikes up the hill. Very up close and personal. Quali results are here if anyone cares:

Between this and a few other videos that have popped up here in the past few months my local trails are about to get even more crowded.
  • 3 0
Already 5 million eBikes and dirt bikes, not sure if can get worse. Oh, and the occasional stuck Jeep.
  • 2 0
@JSTootell: Still not bad midweek. You can tell this was shot mid-week, probably early morning or evening 'cause the parking lot isn't totally full.

In addition to the jeep there was a stuck car a while back. It was right in the middle of a gap jump. Still kicking myself for being too chicken to jump it. How often do you get the chance to jump a car on your local trails (Except for maybe that one trail in Utah.)? The roofline of the car was a bit too high above the lip of the jump for my comfort level. I'll hit the same gap every time in the absence of a car, but somehow that just made it a touch too sketchy. I'm sure someone probably has footage on their Insta of jumping that car, it was there for about a week.

Those trails have gotten really crowded lately. I've even gone weekday mornings and there was quite a few people on the trails.

@SoCalTrev: Which jump was that? Bummed I missed that one.

I used to live in Loma Linda, I would ride from my front door fairly often. I mostly ride Sycamore and Greer now.
  • 1 0
@JSTootell: It was the gap just up from four corners, with the steep roll-in youtu.be/4W53Am5lpYI?t=165 (Not my video.) Greer is great. Wish I had time to ride there more often, I've only been there a couple times. Been to Sycamore once and it was fun too. Definitely worth exploring more if I had the time to get over there.
  • 1 0
@SoCalTrev: Ah, ok, I know the one.

Sycamore is best with someone who knows the place. It is easy to get turned around or miss the fun stuff. I would try to get there as much as you can before it gets covered in warehouses. Though with all the weeds right now, that is a buzz kill. And my weedeater and machete are going to take 3 years to get it cleaned up.

It is cool to see videos lately like Dylan Stark sending on what used to be my old stomping grounds. I used to ride there the 2-3 times a week religiously. My buddy live down the street we'd ride right out of his garage and built a lot of those trails you see in the vids. Pretty much learn to ride a mtb there. It is busy there now days, but I don't ride there anymore living in Utah now. I hardly see any crowds on trails now, kinda miss showing off in front of big crowds

@FlysDown: I was in Utah last weekend. Barrel Roll was just as busy as Hulda.

But all that stuff out there is pretty amazing to ride.
  • 2 0
@JSTootell: Yeah you're right, St. George is a mad house! Not only MTB trails are busy, but the UTV seen is crazy. Its fun to see everyone out enjoying.

My local trails are pretty quite. The more people keep moving out here, I'm sure the local trails around me will get busy. Busy trails can be good, keep the trail ridden in.

Seat Testing....? Am I the only one who expected this video to be full of seat bouncing, ball slams, and riding no-footed in ways that no human would be expected to do? He's not even sitting on the saddle in this video.
  • 1 0
Exactly! I would have expected them to put some cross-country person on a video to test a saddle, but what fun would that be?
Great video though.
  • 3 1
Butt for the video of Kirt riding, this is an asinine story and doesn’t pass the smell test. Frankly, it stinks.
  • 2 0
I think you mean "assinine" lol

@seraph: sniper by autocorrect again! Lol

Will this eventually CREAK CREAK CREAK like a mofo like the standard v3? The plastic they've chosen for the base is very flexible for a comfortable ride, but the rail holes get more and more loose with time (my rails now have more lateral play than my dropper). No amount of lube/grease solves it for long. SDG weren't interested in replying, so its getting binned.

My buddy and I have been on Bel Air V3’s for over a year and they’re silent and comfortable. I’d try reaching out to SDG again because this is prob a defect.
  • 1 1
@covekid: mine was good for about 6 months (maybe 1500km) before the nose creak began. Reviews on the CRC product page and the v3 pinkbike article comments section suggests it's not uncommon.
  • 1 0
@covekid: Totally! Its year 3 for my current BA3 and is my 3rd SDG saddle, never experienced the issue @ForAllTheCows is talking about.

If Bud Light puts Kirt in there next promo video, I will consider drinking it...

Looks nice now, 'cause we've had a crap-ton of rain this winter so we've got pretty green hills and hero dirt. I suspect that situation, combined with a local shredder/red bull rampage digger having built a bunch of features there is the reason for it's recent spike in popularity for pro rider shreddits. Probably also not a coincidence that a bunch of these videos dropped when well known riding spots in other areas of the country were covered in snow or mud.

I think you'll see a lot fewer people wanting to film there in the coming months when all the new vegetation dies off, everything is the color of dirt, there are triple-degree temps by 10a, and all the trails have turned to moon dust covered braking bumps and blown out berms that won't get repaired until the rains come again next winter. Still a fun place to ride, but definitely best in the winter/spring.
