The second round of the enduro and downhill World Cup is in Poland this week and so we thought we'd take the opportunity to put together some random polls about Poland for your amusement. I learned some interesting things about Poland putting this together, got very hungry, reminisced about the Field Test where we stayed at Radek and Karl Burkat's parents' house and their mum made us her Polish pierogis, and am looking forward to see how big a bottle of vodka the winners are presented with on Sunday's podium.

How much of an advantage do you think a skin suit has on a 3:15 track?

What's your favourite content from a World Cup weekend?

Who will win the Elite Men's Semi Finals race?

Who will win the Elite Women's Semi-Finals race?

What do you think the best Polish invention is?

What do you think the best Polish food is?

Was that the most pointless article ever? YES
Did I partake? YES

There is nothing pointless about Pierogi's ever!
  • 8 0
Gotta pass the time at work somehow.
  • 4 0
@artistformlyknowasdan: but they didn’t give the option with sausage
  • 4 0
Hard to resist with such a punny title.
  • 1 0
@mxmtb: haha yes I looked for that too
  • 4 0
@artistformlyknowasdan: forget pierogi, żurek is the only right answer
  • 4 0
 @pooceq: ma man!

 Vital Raw
  • 41 0
 I like Vital Raw too...
  • 11 1
@brianpark: I actually prefer the full attack french channel.
  • 7 0
@CantClimb: Yes being french, for sure Full attack is on top for me ! Vital Raws and photo epics are also top notch though!
  • 7 0
Was "Dialed" Unreal Production considering edits were done daily. Gave viewers the best behind the scenes content in a way that made you feel you were tagging along in Europe Following World Cup DH, not to mention all the "Puzzling" From 70% of the top riders on the planet. F$cking shame it went away.
  • 1 0
 Full attack and vital raw
  • 3 0
@tadabing: yes so upset we lost dialed, definitely a loss to the build up to the race now, I would love to see something like it to return to fill the void
  • 3 0
@tadabing: 100% shame !! Still soured about Decline going away as well
  • 34 1
It's ŻUREK not Surek, for God's sake!
And btw you always drink vodka and eat pickles simultaneously, so this poll makes no sense.
  • 10 0
Whoops, hard to spell check in a foreign language! Didn't know that about pickles and vodka, sounds delicious?
  • 2 0
I'm shocked you only get a croissant for St Martins. Other countries get goose and sauerkraut you need to write to the ministry of food and complain.
  • 10 0
@sarahmoore: Yeah and the word pickle is not 100% accurate, since pickles are typically based on vinegar, but polish cucumber pickles (which are the only which goes with vodka) are sour, you add salt, garlic, water and some spices and wait a few months, the process is the same as making sauerkraut.
  • 3 0
@lkubica: I think they're called dill pickles so 50% correct but yep, it's an important difference Wink
  • 1 0
 @sarahmoore: as in Natasza Zurek
  • 23 0
Really?? No Pączki in the food poll?? Travesty
  • 19 0
In fact bulletproof vest is a polish invention by Szczepanik and Żegeń and żurek is ranked world's second best soup right behind ramen.
  • 4 0
Hard to argue with such ranking. If pho was in third place, it would be my top 3 as well
  • 1 1
Someone shoots at you - Panik You got bulletproof vest - Kalm It was designed by Szcze - Panik

I never thought I’d be taking culinary advice from the pinkbike comments section, yet here we are today.

@ridebikesyall: It has been a rough spring all over.

So few answers for "photo Epics" when they are greater and greater everytime... showcasing amazing work from the photographer (versus average camerawork from the live feed)... sure, live is cool, but photo epics are great !
  • 4 0
 Yes, this!
  • 2 0
My only issue with the photo epics is the scaling. On a laptop as the photos are scaled to width, I can never see the whole photo at once, as the height gets cut off. If I want to scroll down enough to see the caption below, I'm only seeing about half of the photo. As it's a bit frustrating, I always click to see the photos and soon find myself just quickly scrolling through them without focus.

There is no way non Polish people actually know what Bigos is so I assume all those votes are fellow Poles.
  • 7 0
Canadian, born from 2 British, and I know. And voted for.

From what I have been told pierogis is the incorrect, bastardized English plural for pieróg. The correct plural pierógi.
  • 2 0
 Correct.
  • 18 0
@wolftwenty1: sorry but it's, 'pieróg' and "pierogi" Smile 'ó' changes into 'o' in this case. welcome to our linguistic hell
  • 7 0
Well this was an amazing content. Maybe run a poll about the poll on a polish race and how the local poles went.
  • 7 0
I see what you did there.
  • 5 0
Is this needed? Not at all... Is it one of the best poll ever? Yes to me.
  • 7 4
This is going to be unpopular, but the amount of unnecessary material waste in WC racing is getting ridiculous. How many tires will get tossed this weekend? How much oil?
  • 10 0
I don’t hate the idea that we limit the number of tires and frames etc a team can use every year. Like F1 a little bit. Would make for some more interesting product development and stories.
  • 3 1
I'm an unpopular kinda person myself and fully agree. While in a way it's cool, the "new fancy paint job frame for each race" thing isn't luckily quite as big a thing anymore compared to a couple of years back. But components, changing kits (surely several copies per weekend of that one-off colour) and all that. Yes, it's not a very eco friendly sport with teams travelling all over and many would say what's a few tires or jerseys for a select group of elite athletes. But not only do the little things add up, they're of course leading by example - and trying to sell those sponsored components and kits, making you want to (or think you need to) update your own gear more often to try new things.

 @samdeatley:
Awww Sam now look what you have done, trying to be a concerned human being in the PB comments on what basically is a food discussion. I applaud your bravery.
On a serious note, I would assume the rubber and petroleum gets recycled no?
  • 2 0
@jgottya1: idk, I went to Leogang the year Gwin came down on his rim. I remember a full size dumpster full of tires. They do new ones each day. I also remember seeing a picture of a dumpster of rims and wheels after a race weekend. But it’s just a bit overkill at this point. I’m picking on tires because they’re an easy target - but you want to show me the best tire on the market? Show me the tire that is mounted on Thursday but still holds up and wins on Sunday.

We need one more option on that food question: "all of the above" !
  • 5 1
 Czhesht.. cheshz.. tzescht...?

Hi.
  • 3 0
You missed out the ‘do you actually care who wins the semi final’ option.
  • 3 0
*żurek not surek unless you meant siurek...
  • 3 0
I did indeed mean zurek, tasty photos here.

Wait, the Microsoft paper clip or the office paper clip?
  • 4 0
It is the Microsoft Office paper clip but it could take any form. Can't write anything properly in MS Office now that the paperclip is gone. When stuff got more difficult, I called Einstein. AI doesn't even come close.
  • 1 0
 Clippy is dead.
  • 4 0
@HappyBiker19: It's steel, it doesn't die. It gets recycled. If it were a thermoset, that's what would have been problematic. Clippy may actually live on in my bike, who knows?
  • 1 0
@vinay: I must be misunderstanding something. My apologies.
  • 3 0
@HappyBiker19: Goes to show Clippy indeed lives on in my bike. I've got all the answers Smile .
  • 2 0
Placki ziemniaczane (potato pancakes) is the correct answer...
  • 2 0
My ex gf's whole family was Polish. Her mom was raised here in the states but still spoke both Polish and English. I always had the best potato pancakes and pierogis at her house. Smile

Gołąbki and Pączki? Best Polish food and invention.

Fear not, we will all know how to pronounce it after this weekend as Rich will tell us 465000 times.

 So the big question ❓
Will the Semi finals be on You tube for free ???????
  • 1 0
No. There's no mention of them being broadcast in any official communication, just saying you can watch the finals live.
  • 2 0
Wyn and Cathro, ftw Wyn stopping Cathro on the track walk was nice...

Pinkbike is a Polish invention? Holy gówno... It is!

 The Polish invented Pinkbike......??????
  • 4 0
Pinkbika was actually set up by Radek Burkat, that emigrated from Poland to Canada with his family. So, yes it is Polish invention
