 @Tombrad: local buttock specialist?

 But there is this neat trick - before checking your prostate, just lube your finger, this will ensure a much smoother ride.

 f*ck is a front mech?
  • 9 0
 @L0rdTom: the one who gives you the ticket for the work. the rear mech... well, that's a different story for a different time.
  • 9 0
 @L0rdTom: if you have to ask you probably can't afford it

 @kinematix: The gate keeper mech.

“Do you a this specific tool for this frame operation”
-“Mate you gotta book it in with the mechanic”
“Yes I understand, but are you able to…”
-“yeah just book it in”

…two weeks later…

-“hey yeah nah we don’t actually have the tool to do that job”

 @kinematix: Rear mech: see prostate comment above..

 Don't forget to check your frame about cracks too...
  • 9 2
 especially if you ride a specialized enduro...

 @eljefe1: the reason I’m on a Megatower now. Specialized design is incredible but manufacturing quality is just not good enough. Comparing the headset bearing seats (where Enduros crack) between MT2 and Enduro paints the picture clear as day. The Santa Cruz is WAY better crafted. Always found the Santa Cruz fanboy sh-t super annoying but I think I might be boarding that boat.

 @Blownoutrides: I agree - Im on a STEVO at the moment and have no issues but im for sure looking at a SC Megatower/Bronson(mx) shortly. The problem is - i can get a perf elite/xt build of other bikes for the price of the SC frame.

 especially if on a commencal. Paul Aston approved message
  • 1 0
 @HeatedRotor: curious, what are you agreeing with?
  • 1 0
 @onawalk: manf quality on specialized bikes, the new evo is probably more design issues as they refuse to warranty the thin ass carbon they use./
  • 1 0
 @HeatedRotor: are you dealing with something broken on an EVO?
  • 1 0
 @onawalk: Nothing on mine YET, a few friends with EVO's have had broken downtubes.
  • 1 0
 @HeatedRotor: broken down tubes,
Where are they breaking?
  • 1 0
 @onawalk: google it, youll see
  • 1 0
 @HeatedRotor: I don’t know man,
Maybe I’m missing something,
I see a complaint about a guy who cracked his down tube through the frame protector, and then lots of “buddies” citing the same similar story, but with very few details. Then another story about a broken chainstay, both warranties were declined.

Not calling you out, more just curious really, I’ve got a buddy on one, and thought I’d give him a heads up, but I don’t see a lot of justification at this point. I imagine this is one of Speshs highest volume models, so there might appear to be more sues than what would be considered normal.

Get any pics of your buddies broken bikes?
  • 1 0
 @onawalk: theres a few on the FB group if you join st evo owners
  • 1 0
 @HeatedRotor: so not googling it,
Joining a Facebook group of owners of the specific bike….
Do you see how the story evolves with a couple questions, at first it was poor Spesh manufacturing, thin ass carbon tubes,etc.
I think what you’re seeing is a few broken frames, of what is one of the largest bike manufacturers, highest selling model. Any of the Spesh frames I’ve looked at, worked on appear to be very well made, with no glaring quality issues, but sometimes those are hard to see in carbon.

They might not be to the same standards as Santa Cruz, but thats reflected in the pricing as you noted.

What do you think the volume differences are between Spesh and SC?
  • 1 0
 @onawalk: im not arguing the point mate lol.
all im saying is, broken downtubes like that shouldnt ever happen.

Mines 5 months old but gives me the nerves lol
  • 1 0
 @HeatedRotor: Not arguing, apologies if it came off as such.
Things break, stuff happens, they’re built by humans that make mistakes and things go pear shaped sometimes. Just offering a little context to what you might be seeing.
  • 2 0
 @onawalk: I get it, but it seems weird to have the downtube so thin in the first place.
  • 1 0
 @HeatedRotor: what did you end up using as protection on your down tube?

As a note, Cotic notes on their website that you can’t hang their bikes on tailgate shuttle pads, as their steel down tubes are so thin, that they can dent from being banged around like that.

Keep this in mind, as really, that’s not a warrantable item, as you’re not exactly using the product as intended.
Cotic noted that this only ever became an issue when they started selling bikes to Canadian customers.
  • 1 0
 @onawalk: nothing, But im not riding with any loose stones etc on purpose.

its currently listed for sale as it freaks me out a little haha
  • 1 0
 @HeatedRotor: wait wait wait,
You’ve got “friends” with broken EVO down tubes, so I’m assuming multiple,
You’re freaked out that it could happen to you, so much so, that you’re selling your bike, and you’ve done nothing to mitigate the potential for damage on your own bike?

Nah man, I’m calling shenanigans,
No one sees a buddy get punched in the face, and doesn’t duck when they see the guy coming at them. You’re a muffin stump if any of your comments are true
  • 1 0
 @onawalk: theres nothing to do? the frame has protection on the downtube and has the plastic downtube guard, most of the time it breaks underneath the plastic guard.

you can think whatever you like LOL its cute you care so much for me and what i want.

 Don't forget to check frame pivots too.

 It's, "For all in tents and porpoises". C'mon

 Lol there's a handful of other things to be checked but doing this alone would stop the "Oh you'll get your bike back in 4 weeks wait"
  • 1 0
 Well, I only read the text and didn't bother to watch the video. My comment: if you cannot answer 1-3, don't bother attempting 4 and 5. This is what the LBS is for.
  • 2 1
 If I have to check any of these, it’s time to sell my bike & buy a new one.
