Medal winning bench press in the first corner

Followed by unclipping in the second?!

 Absolutely outrageous

Very scary from a different angle: youtu.be/urHW4B7kxR8?t=289

@blissindex: wouldn't have happened with flats
  • 14 4
 @YukonMog: neither would his win

@YukonMog: So with flats there's no clipping/unclipping? Duh! That said, don't know what the fuss is about with the unclipping here, it's perfectly natural to unclip the inside foot in a turn if it comes to that, no harm done.

@DavidGuerra: In my humble opinion as someone who wears clipless for DH and flats for sessioning jumps: The difference can come down to a mere lapse in concentration for a moment throwing off the rest of your run. Clipping back in can be hectic and never guaranteed. It comes with practice of course, but damn good recovery and reflexes from Jackson who is sure to be the next goat.

I saw at least 23 trees that I would have hit on that run. Kid corners fast AF.
  • 17 3
Fastest shrimp on this planet so far.
  • 10 2
More like a grizzly with the way he manhandled the most physical track on the circuit.

@mtnrush666: so why do others need to bulk thats much? He handles hardest compressions as anyone is said...

The top 5 all put down amazing runs, kudos to Jackson for getting the top spot. The first of many I feel. It must be an absolute dream come true for his folks, awesome that they were there to see it.

He’s definitely got the hopity, skipity pop technique quite dialled. Amazing talent.

So much commitment, strength, and precision! Incredible.

Is Jackson going to race Hardline? Seems like a pretty huge risk considering he's got the leader's jersey, but he's also the reigning winner
  • 8 0
Probably not. He’s hoping to finally get his appendix removed tomorrow.
  • 1 0
@bgoldstone: Issues or just prevention? Either way, wish him a speedy recovery!
  • 1 0
@vinay: he’s been having issues since just after the Urban DH race in Mexico.

I'm sure the Elite Women's run will pop-up later...

To be fair in one of the earlier races the women's winning run was posted, but the men's wasn't.

There's no winning run POV for the elite women yet, as soon as it is uploaded we will post it.

Wasn't it back in the Red Bull days that only Red Bull sponsored riders were allowed to publish helmet cam footage? Now obviously both winners are Red Bull sponsored but then again it isn't Red Bull doing the broadcast. Are there different limitations now that those Warner siblings took over?

Pin it to win it! Nice one Jackson!
  • 2 1
The Women's Final highlight video shows almost all of the winner's run. No spoiler who she was.

Sorry random thought. For entertainment purposes, it would be fun to see these folks do this run on a 130r 150f trail bike vs their downhill bikes.

 Omg so smooth

 The energy was palpable

Ric, how is he going so fast?

Cedric, release de brakes!
  • 2 2
Just wondering.. Jackson seems to weigh half in respect to the other guys on the podium. Is this an advantage?
  • 2 0
Easy to imagine him being unbearable in a couple years after he gets stronger and bigger.
  • 4 0
 @crustin: unbearable... auto correct fail!
  • 1 1
I think it makes sense as an advantage on a track like this. Tons of massive holes and compressions which he feels 'less' than a heavier rider and maybe in turn slows him down less too. But it's also probably a disadvantage on faster tracks cause he'll have less momentum.
  • 2 1
If Iles is 76kg, Goldstone is 38? Probably not. But lighter weight is defo an advantage for braking speed, probably an advantage for cornering speed, and possibly an aerodynamic advantage, depending on the shape of the weight and the tightness of its coverings
  • 1 1
If that was the case Brosnan would have had much more success
  • 2 0
In terms of top speed (both power output and gravity fueled) and momentum, likely a liability. But it takes less traction and energy time and stamina to change direction 100s of time for a lighter weight anything, as well as less need to lose speed to do so(when cornering traction must be bought by lessening speed and momentum, at least).

@Sscottt: yep. Although many found Gwin unbearable when he was unbeatable.
  • 2 0
 @Sscottt: He's probably still unbeardable.
  • 1 0
That was a scary movy! I almost hit a tree just watching this!
  • 1 0
Didn't you duck then? I stuck my head in the sand... ehrm... keyboard, just to be sure. Better be safe than sorry.
  • 1 0
I honestly thought it was sped up, dayum kido
  • 1 0
 Did his brakes fail?
  • 6 1
He just released them when he had to
