Jackson Goldstone attacked the Val di Sole Trentino course to claim his first-ever UCI Downhill World Cup win! Check out the GoPro POV from his race run!—UCI Mountain Bike World Series
@YukonMog: So with flats there's no clipping/unclipping? Duh! That said, don't know what the fuss is about with the unclipping here, it's perfectly natural to unclip the inside foot in a turn if it comes to that, no harm done.
@DavidGuerra: In my humble opinion as someone who wears clipless for DH and flats for sessioning jumps: The difference can come down to a mere lapse in concentration for a moment throwing off the rest of your run. Clipping back in can be hectic and never guaranteed. It comes with practice of course, but damn good recovery and reflexes from Jackson who is sure to be the next goat.
The top 5 all put down amazing runs, kudos to Jackson for getting the top spot. The first of many I feel. It must be an absolute dream come true for his folks, awesome that they were there to see it.
Wasn't it back in the Red Bull days that only Red Bull sponsored riders were allowed to publish helmet cam footage? Now obviously both winners are Red Bull sponsored but then again it isn't Red Bull doing the broadcast. Are there different limitations now that those Warner siblings took over?
I think it makes sense as an advantage on a track like this. Tons of massive holes and compressions which he feels 'less' than a heavier rider and maybe in turn slows him down less too. But it's also probably a disadvantage on faster tracks cause he'll have less momentum.
If Iles is 76kg, Goldstone is 38? Probably not. But lighter weight is defo an advantage for braking speed, probably an advantage for cornering speed, and possibly an aerodynamic advantage, depending on the shape of the weight and the tightness of its coverings
In terms of top speed (both power output and gravity fueled) and momentum, likely a liability. But it takes less traction and energy time and stamina to change direction 100s of time for a lighter weight anything, as well as less need to lose speed to do so(when cornering traction must be bought by lessening speed and momentum, at least).
Nobody notices what I do
Until I don’t do it….
