I got as far as seeing them drag an incapacitated alligator out of a van and stopped watching. Cruel, cowardly and not funny. Say what you want about gators killing and eating people, but they don't make a fucking game out of it and then post it online.
PB should be boycotting this shite.
Plus, how could GT even approve this. If I were a big company like them, having the name plastered everywhere would be bad publicity. I’m sure when they did approve this they must have had to have no idea this would be like this.
@baschyboy: GT have been there every year so far I think this might be the 5th event so they definitely don’t care and people like you aren’t supposed to like or approve of the event anyway so you reaction proves they’re doing something right.
It's Florida, its reputation is well earned in being the capital state of moron in the US. Add in toxic bro culture and I'm surprised they didn't give everyone an assault rifle with a Let's Go Brandon flag with the purchase of each entry ticket.
@jamesbrant: Let's not start painting everyone with one brush here. There are lowlife losers that ride mountain bike too. Don't consider these morons to be what BMX is. There are alot of really cool people in BMX that would never have anything to do with this kind of trash,
@jamesbrant: well on the other side of the coin, some of the fakest, shittiest, most entitled people I've ever met ride MTB. So there's that. Which is worse?
@Superboost: MTBer's have way more people who buy the highest end equipment with the least amount of ability to ride said equipment. Then pontificate and shit on someone who has lesser value of equipment but better riding skills. BMX is closer in relation to skating than MTBer's who seem to be more like roadies...
@Whataboutism: honestly I’ve had a puncture down the park and tried to ride other peoples bikes and the more haggard the bike the better the rider. And for some reason the more worn your grips and pedals are the higher you seem to be able to air. The talent it takes to do what they’re doing with throttle grip amazes me.
The Alligators were there as part of a program to spread awareness and education about them, it was fitting because "spamp" "fest" the are trying to help. notice they where free range withour mouths taped up once in the enclosure? you really saw what you wanted and made false accusations. they spent alot of time and money making a proiper enclosure and had a Alligator specific resuce company there who provided them. CALM DOWN and dont assume, it really makes you look stupid.
@ridingofthebikes: Thanks for clarifying - in that case i'm happy to eat some humble pie. the good intentions didn't come across well in the footage, it looked like a circus sideshow, but that's a problem with the footage rather than the event.
My comment should have been more like "what's an alligator doing there?". Next time i'll count to 10 before approaching the keyboard.
@IamDave: I ride BMX a lot more than I do my MTB, and I can’t get enough of swampfest. But… when I saw the video I thought exactly the same as you so I wouldn’t be too hard on yourself. I’m also super glad to hear what the truth was so can go back to enjoying it again!
For the commenters at the top, HOW DO YOU NOT LIKE THIS?!! This was the most out of control and most entertaining thing I have ever seen y’all need to chill.
Personally I wouldn't go due to all the side show shit but I do love the DIY nature of just building some ramps and crazy stuff out of basically whatever and sending it. I love that it is opposite of most of the over polished bike events that happen.
This, is everything mtb is afraid of becoming... While I do agree that it was not necessary to include alligators in there. This event seems like a lot of fun!
What are you doing? that ramp is not nearly $hitty enough. Replace that normal board with this broken one and take some of those screws out... no way, just take them out half way. Hey, did you shower today? nope. you're out. will look terrible for our brand.

The difference is that the people are free to make that choice though, but the gator had its mouth taped shut, was carried into a pen and then goaded into getting angry, and this was inflicted on it for the purposes of entertainment. I'm pretty sure it didn't invite anybody to treat it that way.
But who do you think would get the blame if it had caught somebody and ripped their leg off?
Judging by the large number of downvotes to my original comment, there seem to be a lot of people comfortable with arrogant and needless cruelty.
@BenPea: ok i'll put it another way. Which party would receive a bullet through the head, despite not actually wanting to be there in the first place and having no choice in the matter.
Where it is, is irrelevant, the principle still stands.
thats low key cool without the fact knowone is wearing helmets and the bad alligator stuff. other than that, have at it but wear a helmet and leave the animals alone
