Since last week Yana had been suffering from severe pain, which after admission and examination to the Hospital in Nove Mesto turned out to be caused by kidney stones. Yana is now waiting for the kidney stones to leave her body Naturally.

Giving the body rest in this process is important. We hope that Yana recovers Quickly and Well and is pain-free.

Nurse Caffeine in Kidney Stone Disease: Risk or Benefit?
Book Five reasons why you need to avoid energy drinks

DISCLAIMER: I recently saw this picture and wondered: is that healthy? I googled it and this is some of the information I found.

I trust dolores over anyone. On any subject. Sure, all they did was win a sports fantasy league with a handful of events and even fewer actual contenders, beating a bunch of superstitious dipshits in what was probably the easiest analysis ever (I have no idea, I pick mascots and the coolest names—YANABELLAMOYNA among them), but boom I just poured out my coffee and removed Red Bull TV app from the Xbox based on the mere association. All hail Qolores, this is the way.

 @owl-X: a Q instead of a d, I'm dying, genius move! lol

@dolores: I’ve followed your CLUES and just finished my ALL-Q keyboard. I’ll use it for PB comments, as per section 9 of Some Flat Pedal Advocate’s analysis of your Fantasy Victory Interview. I have removed half the lug nuts on every 13th car parked on the odd side of my street (like Nico THE ALIEN Voullioz and his rotor bolts) and haven’t touched my left big toenail in months. I await instruction on the upcoming Norco Storm.

Do some of the athletes actually drink RedBull. I thought they just pretended to get paid. A couple of years ago RedBull was illegal in Norway.

@magnusc: Magnus Midtbø, is that you? big fan!

whats the over/under on energy drinks VS coffee?
  • 4 0
@magnusc: isn’t it merely labeled water cans for the people that get paid to keep their bodies healthy and in shape?
  • 2 0
@ceecee: yes. it also does wonders for constipation...

@dolores:I think drinking less is better, don't overdo it

Dolores wins again. Great links and emojis, #1 comment of the year in my book. Energy drinks give you a boost and are a short term performance enhancer but you pay for it later.

@dolores: hehe, no, that’s not me.

How does she sit down with stones that big?

I was married to a woman who has given birth and also has had kidney stones. She said the stone was worse.

@owl-X: My mum had ten kids and she said gall stones, kidney stones, ruptured disc, placental abruption were all far more painful than childbirth.

So how do you kill a tough old battleax like that? One cigarette at a time over many decades.
  • 2 0
Been there, done that.. I wouldn't want it for my worst enemies!

Guys/Gals hydrate yourself better

 OUCH.

To everyone reading this, know that passing a kidney stone is excruciating and the best way to prevent them from forming is to STAY HYDRATED.

Gallon of water a day. I know it’s a cliche at this point but that’s direct orders from a urologist. You want to be pissing clear at all times. Yes, this means you’ll need to pee a lot. Yes, it’s the only way to prevent pushing a crystal that looks like a hedgehog out your urethra some time in our future.

Not always. I’ve had five. What has worked for me is K Citrate. The citrate helps clear out the oxalate so that calcium oxalate stones don’t form. But water is important. After my first, that was the advice. After the second I tried diuretic pills to clear things out all the time. I sweat a lot which might be part of the reason I produced stones. A friend of mine has had over a dozen. Another friend gets them about every 6 months. I’ve been lucky because the first 4 stones did not pass but were treated with shockwave treatment. I passed the 5th but it must have broken up in my bladder because I had no end pain.

I think the best way to avoid them is to have different parents.

Mine was the size of a grain of sand, and it tuned me into a fetal crying lump of a person. worst 2 weeks of my life, passing that fuker was such an amazing day.
  • 3 0
@Someoldfart: totally true that hydration may not prevent all stones from forming and certain chemistries can be prevented by intake changes, but dilution is always helpful so it’s solid advice to give out universally, especially among casual endurance athletes who may choose to get by with one water bottle because hydration packs are out of fashion.
  • 3 2
if your piss is clear you're drinking too much water, piss should have a slight discolouration to it, but yeah stay hydrated & rad my dudes.

You can also give Chanca Piedra (nicknamed the stone crusher) a try for kidney stones/mild kidney infections. Works well for a lot people.

@y9pema: the one I passed caused me to walk to Lions Gate Hospital emerg room. I got registered and waited in the waiting room kinda fetal in the chair. The nurse were talking saying kidney stones were more painful that giving birth. I told them “yeah, but this won’t ever be a sullen teenager”. They laughed. I didn’t. The. I got morphine and vomited. I hate morphine.

@y9pema: I just passed one on Monday after a week and a half of discomfort. Best Monday ever, THANK GOD !

That seems like such a strange thing to get as a professional endurance athlete... I would assume she doesn't drink tons of coffee, tea and alcohol all day and DOES drink tons of water and electrolytes. Interesting.
  • 1 0
@melanthius: Exactly why I don't get people crying when a frame doesn't have a bottle mount. One or even two bottles is not nearly enough water for the rides I do, especially in the summer!

Worst pain I've experienced. Been chugging water ever since. Feel for her.
  • 4 0
Hope she gets better quickly. The PB comments on the pain are concerning. I was diagnosed with a kidney stone a few weeks ago as well, which reminds me I have to take my kidney stone medication.
  • 3 0
It’s the worst pain I have ever experienced. Worse than fractures by far. I feel for any person who goes through passing a stone. I would love to hear why evolution resulted in such massive pain related to stones. Maybe it’s an error.
  • 5 0
Did you hear the one about hydration?

No, you wouldn't have because hydration is no laughing matter.

 ****!!!
If this young lady didn't have bad luck she'd have not luck at all. I also had kidney stones one, years ago when at age 27...
Its genetic and a precursor to gout. ****ers are mega painful

How do you avoid kidney stones? I’ve heard they are absolute hell!
  • 4 0
Stay hydrated, increase your citrate intake, manage your calcium intake, lower your oxalate intake, don't drink cola.

 @boozed: thanks

Get off the oxalates, no more spinach or almonds.
  • 1 1
Googled and will change some dietary habits, thanks Andrew.
  • 2 1
Love spinach and almonds and feel no pain due to state-mandated opiate addiction. Sorry Andrew.
  • 2 0
@owl-X: Good for you. Everybody is different. But if you get kidney stones, ditching high oxalate foods is a good idea.

@AndrewFleming: GREAT for me. I’m the water wasting Popeye of this whole thing

Cystoscopy with lithotripsy would be faster and less painful
  • 2 0
Due to the inflammation from that procedure they usually put in a stent for a couple weeks which is ALSO incredibly painful. Having been down both routes I’d try to pass it before going in there to blast it.

 good bye fantasy
  • 2 1
 Yup, right there with you

Ouch, that's never good. On a side note, that bike looks so big!
