Why isn't this POD yet? It looks like art! Just amazing: the background, the colours, the lighting, the trail... It's the nicest photo ive seen on pinkbike.
i know im gonna get negged but to me it just looks like they slapped a picture of a rider into that back drop, im not saying they did or not but it just doesnt look like the rider fits the background for some reason, especially the front tire
Do people not realize that when any photo is taken digitally is goes through some sort of image processing? Most of the time what photographers do in photoshop is the same stuff any processor in a camera does automatically, only good photographers can do the processing better manually.
Rant over, sorry. This pic is awesome though. It would make a great magazine ad for Fox, or even 661 or TLD.
yea i realize that its probably just a really well taken photo but it just looked that way to me at first, i just noticed there is also a shadow of the rider on the tree aswell so my bad.
my guess would have to be a low setting on a flash from the lower left hand side of the picture as well as some hdr effects similar but not brought as far to the extreme as some of dishboys photo's
For all the photoshop comments - its an HDR image. You shoot in RAW format with the camera then build the image by creating different levels of exposure.
Very nice photo, but I think the rider looks a bit detached from the rest of the scene. Almost like he's missing his shadow. Maybe if the flash were off to the left it would have cast a shadow connecting the rider to the scene more.
The technique used is called HDR and is taking off the actual exposure levels of the camera. Not photoshopped.
looks like a composite? like seperate images for the rider, the ground and tree and the background? and if u look where the lights coming from the rider has no shadow?
looks pretty immense thou and if its all one pics props that some sick scenery
that's what it looks like to me. right or wrong, it looksl like the tree/dirt/rider is one pic superimposed onto a panoramic mtn background. maybe it's just the exposure lighting that has been enhanced?.. either way, looks awesome, but not sure how manipulated it was... which may or may not matter to some.
actually, looking again.. i'd say it's 3 layers 1) rider 2) dirt/tree/roots 3) mountain background. I'd be shocked if that was an actual moment that occured and was captured.
Is this a HDR? Cant decide if it one or Not, if not, then the photog must have lugged a whole heap of lighting equipment up the mountain... respect to that. Dig the shot. Ahoy!
it is the best pod ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that they're both amazing photos. The colors are simply beautiful, and the mountains in the back don't hurt either. Huge props the photographer!
Nice composite but definitely not a real shot. Have a look at it large. Under the tree to the right of the riders right shoulder you will find some blocky photo shop elements where something was clone stamped out.... Also some extract / blending relics if you look closely surrounding the rider.
Why do U all go so nuts on that pic whtther it is photoshop or not. The rider is one of top 3 polish DH competitors, so he's position is adequate to his skills. There is only one place in PL where U have mountains like that and it's quite small, and has very characteristic stones laid on hiking trails. And it appears that Siara (rider) lives in that area... Kayakwest U have no idea what are you talking about, that pic manipulation is a class! HDR + possible improvements. I could just take my Wacom screen and paint a shadow of the rider super perfectly and no one would ever guess! It appears that doing photomontages is my job... SIARA UR THE MAN! UR Photographer and editor IS THE MAN! Cheeers!
Just learn how to work with PS and a proper camera with proper set of flashes and then start talking crap and show off that you know what "compositing", "jpg artifact" means. Fags! SIARA - UR the MAN!
I would also like to point out fragments of the original image flaoting around int he sky.
if this was an HDR image there would have been at least some shadow under his tires.
I understand that there has been a couple remote flashes where used, and I know how HDR images work, I have used them before.
As well on the right side of the right around his elbow we can see evidence of a softer outline then the rest, with some transperancy from a soft edged eraiser brush.
Anyways, none the less HDR or Photoshop this is still a good picture.
There are remnants of a shadow on the ground, as well as on the tree and I can agree to some degree that it might a composite, however I do not see anything wrong with the sky. I believe we can point out that there is a stain on a masterpiece... or a shadow on a masterpiece... indeed shadow should be there and a skilful cheater might add have added it.
