Wow, no mention about pictured knee pads and not even a clickable link to a manufacturer's site. This is one of the weakest press releases I have seen recently. Maybe vid is more informational, but guess what, I am at work and will not watch it.
  • 21 1
Agreed. No time or interest in videos for news articles.

You know there is this thing called "google". Apart from that, the text mentions www.100percent.com. It's just not a clickable link. But Copy/Paste should be within your capabilities, should it?
And if you're so much interested in these products, save the page for later and watch the video at home.
Btw. if you can comment on Pinkbike at work, I don't see the issue with watching the video at work.

Not meant to be an offence. But sometimes I think people are way too fast with angry posts.

With you on this one, this makes way too much effort for what could (and should) be a really quick way to skim and digest the basics of at least what's pictured. And to @Morrrice, you're totally missing the point - press releases literally only exist to try and educate readers on the products, and this one fails quite a bit by making the reader do way more work than is necessary - copy/paste IS easy, agreed, but so is typing whats needed in the post.
  • 10 1
@Morrrice: Well, you can google everything, so why post any press release anyway? I mean, someone's job is to make this info as easy to access ass possible. They paid for a place on PB, yet they did rather mediocre use of their money.
Another thing is respect for customers. 100% is not alone here. I am not angry, just disappointed Wink
  • 5 0
@OrangeGoblin: True. For a manufacturer press-release the amount of information about the products is... slim. I think I am past these press releases and care too little about the release itself, and its marketing blabla, so I try to gather the information myself, if I'm interested in a product.
And yes, the marketing people actually get paid to give us information about the products they advertise. So we can expect more.

I kinda agree with Ikubica here. The video shows some vests. There is no info on the knee pads yet they found space to put this nonsensical rubbish:
"100% empowers today’s most demanding athletes with the performance technologies and gear they need to compete at the top of a wide variety of sports. 100% is inspiring a new generation of athletes and asking them: “How much effort do you give?” "
What on earth does that mean to a potential customer?
  • 1 0
@dave119: Maybe what it means to the customer is:

"Pre-order ASAP. we promise we'll have inventory soon." ???
  • 3 1
@Morrrice: It's no that it's hard to google, but why not provide the information now? For my browsing habits, I scan pinkbike and make a mental note of things I have interest in. I'm not actually shopping right now. When I shop I use google. But I have no information about those pads, so no mental notes are taken, and when I do go shopping, I won't remember that I saw something of interest on pinkbike, because I don't know if I would be interested with such few details.

@Morrrice: Yo, gangster, some people cannot watch videos at work, but can browse text and photos. I would certainly think that if it was a product push there would be every effort to drive traffic towards the new products, idk maybe not.

 sounds like 100% whine
  • 1 0
What part of collection or www.100percent.com don't you understand? does your mother still fold your laundry as well?
  • 1 0
@agrodh: Regardless of whether it's pretty easy to 'go and find it yourself' or not, the point of marketing is to make it AS EASY AS POSSIBLE to buy your stuff and marketing this bad loses customers by the truckload. Understanding that micro-behaviours (like clicking, moving about on a page etc) are a huge part of UX is key to digital marketing. Making the user do the absolute least work possible means the least amount of people get bored or annoyed and leave/close.

When a user is bombarded with marketing constantly day after day, it only takes a slightly less good experience for the user to choose 'the other'. These minor differences make and lose sales. So, whilst we may just be keyboard warriors whining like little *******, the fact is that marketing like this is sloppy and directly loses potential sales.

My experience with 100% gear so far: R-core gloves = fell apart in 4 months of riding 5 times a week; Cognito gloves = only one large holes after one season of riding but they make my hands ache; Brisker gloves = very happy these are great, but a one inch hole after one fall season of riding maybe 4 months; Ridecamp shorts = uncomfortable and too tight fit around thighs; Airmatic shorts = sized much bigger than the ridecamp but I like the fit. only used a couple times so far; Teratec kneepads = comfortable but slide down very easily and do not offer much protection; R-core jersey = super comfortable and great fit, unfortunately the colourways are pretty loud but some people like em.

There you go, the review that nobody asked for lol
  • 12 0
Why keep buying their gear lol?
  • 7 0
@russthedog: as a shop employee it's really cheap compared to other brands, and readily available/in stock. And as i said, the airmatic shorts are good, and so are the R-core jerseys
  • 6 0
@russthedog: and the brisker gloves are great as well
  • 5 0
Damn, you atleast gave them a fair shot! Usually people will have one product fail from a brand and just claim the brand is awful based on one product.
  • 1 0
Airmatic jerseys, pants, and shorts are the best in the business. Pants have a DWR treatment which made them perfect for winter. Wore one pair of pants riding 4-5x/week between October - April and they still look brand new and have survived some crashes.
  • 1 0
@fullendurbro: oh nice, I think I'm gonna cop a pair then. Funny how different their product line is, like the r-core pants are super bulky and don't fit well but I'm liking the airmatic lineup.
  • 1 0
Similar mixed experiences. R-Core gloves: two pair, both fell apart on first crash. Ridecamp, Cognito, Sling: exactly as durable as you'd want each to be, given their intended purposes. Airmatic short: tight fit around hips, waist closure weird, sold to a buddy who fit them well. R-Core X short: my favorite durable/long short ever. Jerseys: all been great.
  • 1 0
@swenzowski: I got more useful information out of your post than I did out of the article/press release.
Thank you.
  • 2 0
@swenzowski: Returning R-Core pants today. They don't fit anything like what I'd hope for; bulky and limited waist adjustment. Plus why only one pocket?

Edit: Briskers going on 3 seasons of continual use. They're great, and hold up to pretty frequent machine washes.

You'd be a little bit otter in the tarka range.

 Niche, top work!
  • 2 0
Excellent work. I was only 10 hours late with my comment.
  • 4 2
well it all looks nice, but as both pairs of gloves I've owned of 100% have fallen apart very quickly compared to other brands I've used in the past, I will look else where thanks. My helmet and goggles have lasted well though.

Some optional or add-on shoulder joint support is an idea to incorporate into the next version. I would "100%" invest in a product like this that includes base level "impact" protection, optional insert impact protection and shoulder stability/brace support. Trying to wear any type of protective equipment on top of one of these is really difficult.

www.donjoyperformance.com/saunders-sully-shoulder-support

www.evs-sports.com/products/sb03-shoulder-support

From a product design perspective I can see great opportunities to include. 100% please reach out, happy to offer my product design experience / glass shoulders to help bring this product to market !!!

I purchased the 100% Tarka short sleeve body armor. I liked that it provides CE rated Level 2 shoulder protection which is rare to find unless you want to look like you’re wearing football pads. Tarka also provides Level 2 back protection as well as Level 1 chest protection. Another reason I decided to purchase Tarka was because it was described as having a “durable mesh body” that offers “maximum ventilation”. After a single ride, there are holes near the seams on both sides of this so called “durable” mesh. I can only imagine what’s going to happen after several weeks of riding. And despite it being a cool day (in the mid 50s), I came home soaking wet. I really wanted to like Tarka - the shape of the pads seems to offer really great coverage and it felt relatively comfortable on the bike - with the exception of the offset zipper that ends directly on the collarbone. Unfortunately, Tarka is not as described and seems to suffer from bad design and poor quality. I do not recommend this product.

What size did you get and what size are you?
  • 1 0
100% of the products I’ve owned by 100% fell apart in 10% of the time it takes other stuff off to deteriorate. I love the style but this is cheap, Alibaba sourced, garbage. Basically fast fashion of the mtb and moto world. This stuff looks great but totally sucks.
  • 1 0
Hard to tell from the pictures but I'd give the armor a shot if it had back of shoulder protection, which never seems to be included in body armor. If I fall, it is not straight on the top of my shoulder (and if I did lawn dart the impact would be on the top of my head anyways), but I roll and mostly hit on the top / back of my shoulder blades, which neither my old 661 or newer Race Face armor cover...

"...four-time and reigning UCI downhill world champ Loïc Bruni.." Er, Reece Wilson and Matt Walker might disagree with you on this @100percent
  • 1 0
Savage too considering Reece is a 100p guy as well, guess they forgot they have him on the team.
  • 1 0
@yakimonti: maybe they don't consider last season as a "100%" season lol
  • 3 0
nice muscle pose so when do we see the new goods and descriptions with pricing and maybe some content?
  • 2 0
Yeah, aren’t they selling pads not steroids?

@korev: must be for the Extreme AF people whoever they are
  • 2 0
 Hairy forearms.
  • 2 0
Picked up a vest for chest and back protection. Guessing it'll get a bit warm, but coverage of the chest and back is good, and padding is stout.
  • 4 0
 "spotted" is missing...
  • 3 0
They otter make a lot of money with the Tarka stuff.
  • 2 0
Beat you to it haha but get a prop anyway
