 Thats tough! Did you ever figure out what caused the stroke?

 Good friends dad had the same thing happened during intercourse in his 50's. He knew something was wrong with his brain and had his wife put him in the tub and filled with cold water and ice till paramedics got there. That single action of getting his body chilled down helped save his life according to doctors. It's an important step of your able to do it, even ice packs on the back of the neck is better than nothing. When dealing with a concussion, as soon as the person is awake start putting ice on back of the neck and getting them cooled down as quickly as possible. It will help fight off inflammation occuring in the brain. It may help lower your heart rate in hopes to lower blood pressure a touch and help with your blood carrying oxygen. I'm not a DR and this isn't medical advice. Simply first aid techniques picked up over a lifetime of learning and helping injured riders including myself.

 @danielfloyd: Decided to look into it further, my knowledge is a collection of personal experiences with myself and about 5 others who got knocked out. As well as collecting bits and pieces over the years about stroke patients and ice baths.  @MikeGruhler: I had a vagal response last time I donated blood. Started losing my eye sight mid conversation with the nurse less than a half pint in. Tissue around my eyes became flushed and gray. They sat me up immediately and iced the back of my neck with cold packs. Eye sight returned within seconds. Also not an MD, and realize this is a different neurological situation, but can vouch for that action in my circumstance.

 @abotchway: It was a cryptogenic stroke, so unknown cause but through a litany of blood tests and a bubble study (injected agitated saline and watched the heart) they deduced it was from a Patent Foremen Ovale (PFO) or a hole between the two chambers of your heart. Got a PFO occluder implanted in my heart to plug the hole. Now taking daily 81mg aspirin to keep the blood thin.

 @hittheshowers13: Oh wow dude! that is some interesting stuff! im about 2 weeks away from graduating paramedic school and we were actually talking about that exact issue just the other day, specifically the foramen ovale not fully closing off after birth.
