We stumbled upon a beauty old relic of a jump in the desert -- Brett Rheeder's trick jump from the Anthill Film "Return To Earth." We spent some time reviving it and then had a nice session while shooting for Badlands2 (link to that edit below).
You know what they say, "It's all fun and games until someone gets attacked by a drone." That someone was Tyler. We grounded all vessels and moved on to the next feature. Subscribe for more BTS vids from this shoot to come.—Cam MacCaul
Sick riding! I wonder if this was the cancellation TMac was so worried about on the Inside Line podcast? The drone trying to cancel his backflip was one I did not see coming
Lol! People still fly Phantoms? That was (is) the only drone I have (a father's day gift back in 2014). What a pain to fly (must have only had 10 or so flights on it) and I actually injured a guy when it ran away from me. It's been grounded ever since. What a POS... that and the pilot.
my first thought as well when I saw the drone, got one in my garage I haven't used in years. Wouldn't say it was a POS based on what was available at the time it came out but definitely wouldn't fly it without the blade covers on...which probably would have prevented the injury in the posted video.
@SATN-XC: The POS reference was probably more the pilot (me) than the drone. The way to fly it wasn't very intuitive.. I even remember the first time I flew, the stupid thing got stuck up a 50 ft tree because I tried to land it using the "homing" mode.
For 2023 World Cup DH events, at a designated 'DRONE ZONE', hordes of tiny drones are released, just as the rider navigates the course........red bull is all over it
Link has the most horrific crash in the History of FMX by getting hit by a helicopter 40ft in the air while filming the movie XXX as Vin Deisl's stunt double.
Does anyone remember the Crusty Video where a rider got hit by a camera helicopter?
ok, so I remember that movie well, a great hoot though it has aged badly. I even had the DVD when it came out. Dont judge me. If you're 39 like me you also liked Limp Bizkit. Anyway, the stunt was done by one of the Metal Mullisha/X Games guys (I think) Jeremy Stenberg. It was on the xXx bonus features. It's a genuinely incredible stunt. At no point does he collide with a helicopter. I'm not sure where the most horrific crash from FMX comes from though. Pretty sure its not the set of the film xXx.
@nickkk: The helicopter crash was Larry Linkogle while filming for XXX but it´s not in the movie. You can google it. The other one was Brian Deegan got hit by a drone (A few years ago, Brian Deegan was filming for an NBC Gravity Games commercial when the remote-controlled helicopter that was doing the filming smacked Brian in the shoulder, resulting in a nasty scar from the blade (which missed his jugular by a mere three inches). You can see it in one of the Crusty movies. I used to spend hours just watching these videos
@nickkk Thank you. I have refreshed it for the new season. Pics come soon!
@dh-corn: well I stand corrected. Was the link you were talking about though, a suggested link from the cam Cole vid ? Algorithm madness I think.. I used to love a bit of FMX back in the day. Takes me back!
TMac is lucky the drone doesn't appear to be running carbon props. Those things are wicked.
