 Where's the advent calendar comp?
  • 14 1
It's gone the way of the Fantasy Leagues, by the looks of it.

This was finally gonna be my year to win, too! Smile

@cains08, sorry, there's no advent calendar for 2023. Maybe next year. At least there's no shortage of bike stuff on sale at huge discounts right now. Yes, winning free stuff would be better, but there are lots of 60 - 70% off deals going on.

@mikekazimer: The year I was about to win something.... Frown
  • 15 1
@mikekazimer: But I was really looking forward to not winning anything!
Oh, and also @sewerrat's click bait song.
  • 13 7
Came here to say this. RIP OG pinkbike
  • 34 18
@Supergirl56, OG Pinkbike didn't have an advent calendar contest.
  • 16 4
@mikekazimer: depends what you consider og pinkbike... I think a lot of people would argue outside taking over and the last old school contributor (levy) leaving (sorry... On "extended break ) was changing of the guard. And unless my memory is entirely broken it certainly had the Advent calendar before outside. Also a little disappointing that the xmas fundraiser for bikes for kids disappeared but it seemed like it might have been a bit of a logistical nightmare with questionable results.

@lostlunchbox, I've been working here for going on 12 years now, so the guard hasn't totally changed, even if I wasn't part of the original crew. Yes, some programs have gone away, but that doesn't mean they won't come back, hopefully better than before (*cough* Fantasy DH *cough*). The advent calendar always seemed to involve lots of comments from people whining about it being rigged and that they didn't get a prize, so I won't miss that this year.
  • 9 0
@mikekazimer: I guess I didn’t have to put up with all the comments, but I enjoyed the calendar. It had become a tradition, and it was always fun to hope and check out all the prizes, even if I never won. Kind of disappointing, but I had a hunch it would be gone this year — the handwriting was kind of on the wall.
  • 4 2
@lostlunchbox: Yeah, I think Levy’s gone. I gave them the benefit of the doubt at first — extended leave and all that. But that dude ain’t coming back. It is what it is.
  • 16 2
@mikekazimer: I'll chime in to vote for those who are stoked you're still here Kaz! I'm with the nostalgic fools who'd love to see Fantasy DH, Advent, Levy, and head-to-head voting for Photo of the Year to come back, but will resist the ingrained Pinker impulse to whine & cut straight to expression of gratitude so Santa doesn't leave coal in my sock: you, Henry, & Dario are doing a great job. Keep it up & happy holidays!

@mikekazimer: Wasn't trying to belittle your contribution to the community (but seriously?,12 years? goddamn getting old happens fast) and i appreciate not being the other mike comes with many benefits, merely pointing out that as you suggested, the "O.riG.inal crew" is only recently no longer, and that the advent calander predated this demise of this era. Thing change. sometimes for better ✌.
  • 2 1
@mikekazimer: Always hated the whining, it must've been a lot of work to do all the admin for the advent calendar and I definitely appreciated it. Fingers crossed it's back for 2024
  • 1 1
@mikekazimer: I was thinking it would be difficult to do a fantasy league with the stupid qualifying and semi points involved now, but I guess Pinkbike could ignore them and just count finals points towards the team results.
I'm not planning on paying to watch it but bringing fantasy DH back would generate more interest in racing now that it's on a serious downslide.
  • 20 1
@mikekazimer: I’ve been working on lyrics all year Facepalm
  • 4 2
@mikekazimer: The whining was simply because there was no single post with the list of winners, so this was totally your fault Razz
  • 3 4
@mikekazimer: Hi Mike. Thanks for confirming. That's a real shame. P.S. Sorry for my bumbling videos on YT.
  • 4 6
@mikekazimer: I participated in the advent calendar every year. It was a diversion from the holiday stress. Perhaps this December will be a great opportunity to take a break from pinkbike.
  • 2 0
@cains08: All good, man. No one was watching your videos anyway.
  • 1 0
 @TheR: Thanks Mike.

No comments on the brake bleed tool in the original post? I'm astounded. Then I hear there's no advent calendar...What is this pinkbike world coming to?
  • 1 0
I'm guessing that's because the article does not appear in the main news feed (at least when I view it on mobile and desktop).
