Video: Martin Söderström Rides Downhill

Jul 20, 2012 at 1:02
by Scott Secco
Me and Martin Söderström entered in the GoPro Video Challenge up in Åre, Sweden. We got there a day late, I got sick, and Martin had to go to Stockholm for one of the days, so we are super pumped we figured it out. We managed to win best edit, best POV, and best rider. Thanks for a sick week!

Oh yeah. Amazing riding and wicked funny. We need more edits like that!
  • 40
I love how there doesn't have to be banging dubstep, even with the fairly relaxed music the riding still looks intense and sick!
  • 50

heeeeeellll yeaaaaahhh ... martin pumps it up! So much style on a dh bike, playing with gravity and cornering the **** out of it Big Grin
Give me more dh/fr edits, please! Martin would be a perfect candidate for next big film projects with anthill films and the coastal crew !
  • 470
 "Hey specialized punks!" Hahaha!
  • 50
Laughed on that so hard! lol
  • 31
"I need a bike!" *proceeds to yank bike out of the Specialized display* so funny.
Not to mention the riding was excellent, I love bonking stumps/roots with my wheels when I'm riding and this really captured the feeling how fun that is super well!
  • 20
 He got slapped !
  • 341
i like him on the demo more than on the smaller bikes! this freeride/downhill segment fits for him more! Smile
  • 160
 damn......

looks like my downhill "skills" just got trounced by a dirt jumper.... :/
  • 60
that's why you need to ride street/dj - it helps you learn good technical control of the bike.
  • 10
 That's true!
  • 20
Hahaha, but how many other downhillers can even ride their bikes like he just did?!?! That was insane! He just controlled the bike like it was a dj. Fricken nuts!!
  • 50
Yeah man, he rides that demo as if it weights 20 pounds.

Video: Martin Söderström Rides Downhill, takes bikes from his sponsors when they don't want him to, sucks at answering his phone, cases a stepdown that he jumped from the previous lip. In my eyes thats one of the best videos i've seen in a long time.
  • 92
Haha best video Ive seen in a while. Some genuinely mental skills there and camera work properly committed too.

  • 30
Very funny video! Awesome riding, Martin is a BEAST! Bla bla bla, we need to see more DH shredding from Soderstrom! Also, he totally acts like a douche in the video, but I bet he is The opposite of that in real life.

  • 32
wait was that all filmed on a gopro or what?
  • 25
definately not, some of the shots are telephoto and have too shallow a DOF. bout half and half by the looks of it.
  • 22
Dayum!! If the speed and skills are legit (and they sure look it) give that boy an entry in a WC!!
  • 50
A friend of mine, 4x racer, once told me that soderstrom raced 4x few times in some european events. Guy appears on 4x race with single speed bike and sets like top 10 time. He said it was the most fluent bike riding he has ever seen while throwing some tricks along the way...
  • 10
He got into one of the world cup rounds last year when he was riding for NS bikes. He nearly got the gate against some top riders on his SS but threw it away trying to get the lead
  • 10
I meant an entry in a WC DH event not 4X.
  • 10
