I feel his pain, i have only been riding a couple of times in december and havn't gone yet this year just cause of this constant rain... and i'm on flood alert. I was expecting a lot of riding this holidays but i guess not, what a great start to the new year
. A snowy winter up north is looking pretty good right now.

Axemen@ we don't have a season. we ride all year round
D1RTbmx@ if you want you're video faster then donate some money to the flood appeal. at the moment, the road to his jumps is probably 3m under water. the water has peaked at 18.4m in Brisban.

I know the jumps are big - and I'll admit that I couldn't do them... but when he says I don't know anybody who's built jumps this big... Hasn't he heard of slopestyle*!? Clearly he thinks he's riding slopestyle with a drop in like that - just got the wrong tool for the job
( a 26 inch rig would carry more speed and a slopestyle full-sus would be more forgiving when casing )
* I don't know the exact stats but they must be getting on for 50-60ft especially Chatel mountain style some of those things are huuuge. Also not DJs but he's only tickling the rampage riders!!

spoonyman you do realize bmx caries more speed right? smaller wheels get more rpm and i have seen 50ft jumps built for 26 inch need less speed than a 20 ft jump made for bmx (super steep lips and landings)

I have changes my mind about carrying speed - I think we're both wrong!! I think give or take they'll carry the same amount of speed. I will attempt to explain after work!

a BMX will hold more speed because you get more pump out of the gravities. but a mtb will go faster because it has bigger wheels.

Brett has changed my mind about the carrying speed thing. My point about mtbs carrying more speed was based on them having bigger, heavier wheels that would carry more rotational (or angular) momentum - but brett is right the the 20 inch wheels would have a higher rpm - which would actually mean (give or take) they carry roughly the same amount of speed.
I would say the thing about steep lips/landings is more about the jump/trail than the bike though... Hooly is probably right about BMXs being better for pumping - if I can work out what "gravities" are

I think Garrett Robertson and Dane should square off MTB vs BMX - Biggest back-flip. www.pinkbike.com/news/dreamland-sender-day-2-2010.html
Thoughts?

you do realize that even though the jumps are the same gap size dane is getting way more air over his 50 because it is tall and steep so he is boosting like mad

so mtb freestyle is wayy harder than bmx. i can tailwip a bmx but not a dirtjump bike. so the skill level trickwise is higher on dirtjump/freestyle mtb's than bmx's

makes you think . . . what the f**k is gonna top this? dropping into a mountain from a rocket ship maybe?

dropping out of a plane with hundreds of helium balloons atached to you then getting someone to shoot them all just as your about to land at the start of the fort bill dh track and then do a storming run all in hd would be totaly awesome.
