Evoc would like to reward you for your blunders by dishing out prizing for the best fail of each month. Here are our picks for July.

 There is a lot we can learn from number#5. The landing (at about 0:25) should be a warning to us all. The, however slight yet very easy to recognize, harsh landing on one jump will usually signal something we might regret later on the next. Have been there myself on Shazam at Silverstar with similar results.

 ^ Yeah. 2nd Jump was very nose-heavy and I was instantly thinking, "Shit next jump he's gonna overrotate and pull a front flip or something."

I'm just gonna assume he was fortunate to being wearing a neckbrace.

 totally agree with Orientdave. Even if you aint superstitious, do not ignore these kind of things. Just been through that on the black jump trail at Järvsö.

 I'm extremely disappointed there was no sound in the slowmo bit because a deep voice "ohhhhhh shiiiiiiiiiiit" would have made it even better!

 Same. I was already cringing when I saw him land nose heavy and knew what was coming up. Dude should have pulled off after that. Glad he didn't die though it sounded like he landed super fucking hard.

We have all had the "oh shit" moment when your balls retract into your uterus and you end up on a fetal position or regressing back to a zygomatic state.

 Newb-ish technical question for the rider in #5 and anyone else that wants to chime in (because we all do that anyway).

How did he propel himself to flip forward? Was he leaning too far over the bike at the exit of the jump? Any comments on where things went wrong? Any suggestions for ensuring that this never, ever happens to me?

 #5, the Thing about the Crabapple Hits is that either you do it or you dont, there is no half way because if you brake you will case and fly off your bike anyway. Video does not do justice too how huge these hits are. On top of that, when he crashed, it was not at the largest hit either. Ouf !!!

 #2 Best reason to ride a 29er - When riding over common trail obstacles such as other downed riders, a larger diameter wheel offers a reduced angle of attack allowing you to carry speed through your line as well as minimizing further damage to the guy laying in the dirt.

The rider could not have bunny hopped here. I know it is not very apparent in the video, but I know the trail and can tell you that the incident happened just after the landing of a big jump.

 Has to be Crabapple #5. Haven't we all been there, ripping along and then...OH Sh*t! Had that happen to me riding today. Not as bad as this, but minding my own business and then bam! rider down off the trail somewhere in the bushes. LOL!

 it is crab apple. Taken its share of flesh and bones. The trail says " for advanced riders" at its entry. Of course many below the age of 25, believe they are an advanced rider. Its after multiple hospitol bills, casts, pins, screws and plates that some of us start to be a little bit more selective of our next innevidable "oh shit moment"!

As I sit here mending chuckling with a new reconstructed left shoulder from a complete L5+ rupture of my clavicle and new screws and cadaver tendon. Overshot a landing and lawn darted....

I once had a nasty crash while racing. I seriously thought that i had broken the riders neck!

Both the other rider and i were ok.
The rider i landed was fine and back on his bike only days later ( so I heard).
And i was three weeks in bed with a bruised spine and broken toes.

 #5! Can anyone see what definitely went wrong there (besides hitting the deck like an old person on a cruise ship)? Was it just bad body position? Kinda looks like he got sprung up off the lip and that was what caused the over rotation? Open to correction, we ain't got anything that ma-hoo-sive round my parts

 What's interesting is that on the jump before it you could tell he was already tilting too much forward in the air, but because it was a smaller jump he was able to correct. Looks like body position to me.

 #5 only because that exact same thing has happened to me twice trying to ride downhill on a twitchy slopestyle bike, such a horrible feeling but surprisingly I got up fairly ok both times too, just a headache and some bruises - definitely the worst feeling when riding getting bucked over the bars at speed

 #5, this type of catastrophic event is my biggest fear. It's one thing to crash after your bike has absorbed some of the landing; it's another to lose your bike mid flight AND have enough air-time to consider the consequences.

 every time I see Number 5 I ask myself "he landed nose heavy off the jump prior, why not pull out and sort your rear end out??" then I hear THAT horse noise and have to laugh. (and yes, I have done the same thing in the last 3 weeks, still have a nice gash in my shin and cork in my thigh!!!)
