ABSOLUT SX Kyle Strait edition
This is what I wanted, it's made for me - Kyle Strait

The eagle eyed among you may have noticed Kyle Strait riding something new and as yet unseen at Crankworx, Rotorua, but the cat is finally out of the bag... He was riding a brand new Commencal (naturally) that as of right now, is not even available for sale. Yet! The new version of the Absolut SX - part of the 2017 range - will surely pick up the mantle from its fun loving and smile inducing predecessors.

The request came directly from Kyle Strait, which was simple - he needed a single bike capable of riding 4X, Dual Slalom and Slopestyle. The suspension was developed especially with this bike in mind, delivering a very progressive suspension curve to accommodate big impacts. The shape of the curve helps keep the first strokes of the suspension sensitive and responsive. This is because during 4X or Dual Slalom for example, the level of grip must be optimised without the bike becoming twitchy and in Slopestyle, the suspension is simply stiffened to cushion the big hits.

bigquotesI'm so happy to finally have a frame that fits all of my needs and that I am so stoked to put my name on. Working with the Commencal team on this frame has been a breeze and I cannot thank them enough. Man, we thought of it all on this thing; everything from the strength of the frame, the sizing, all the way to setting up the suspension platform to fit the needs of such a specific frame type. From the first time I hopped on the bike I knew it was exactly what we needed and not to mention, the color and graphics are bit chin! - Kyle Strait

Love the look of this. Now to go and get the necessary skills to justify owning one when it's released....or buy one anyway

 Burly and flickable...perfect.

Buy one anyway, have an awesome time on little jumps.

Exactly what I said to my buds when I saw it the other day. I love me some jumps but I would look like such a spanner riding this next to some killer dirt jump guys on hardtails!

Thanks @Patrick9-32 that's all the justification I needed.
All about having a great time

So solid looking prob performs almost like a hardtail. Berm destroyer for sure.
  • 2 1
Another bottle rocket but kyle could ride anything and get awesme results. The big question is how he adapt to the dh Comm. Surely that will be rowdy as usual.

There was a time when companies actually made 4x and dual slalom specific frames......those were good times indeed. Nice work Commencal.

That's a very new looking Monarch rear shock with blackbox label... looks like a high-volume eyelet, just like Fox has been using as of late.

I just came here to call Commencal bast*rds!!! Owned a supreme in '08, then a Absolut hard tail (both ali and Chromo), then a Meta4x and then an Absolut SX. Loved them all but found 140mm a bit big for the jumps I was riding. I would never have left them if they continued to offer a slope style bike- but I went and bought a Specialised Pslope. I like it, but I was the Commencal kid and had to give up my identity for nothing... and now I'm too skint to buy the bike I was always meant to have. You cruel heartless buggers!

Kyle Strait is such a legend, any bike good enough for him is probably tenfold good enough.

 stoopid nvidia...read first!
  • 67 2
Hey nvidia, I have a gtx 660 graphics card in my pc that keeps crashing. I've tried everything: updating drivers, clean driver install, even taken the damn thing apart and given it a good clean with an airbrush. Any help would be appreciated as I would love to avoid having to call the fire service because I got my dick caught in the ceiling fan again Smile

  • 2 0

Slope and DJ bikes are short. I mostly follow DH/FR stuff so all slope/DJ bikes look BMXy to my eyes.
  • 2 0
Nice lookin' bike. The world needs more candy apple red.
  • 2 0
Spot on! I suggested such a color to evil but they opted for the slime ball green...folks still eatn up the flouro but i love these f1 style colors...candy apple green is gtg2(cateram)
