Sick! I love how XC nowadays has quiet a few technical sections and jumps. I'd definitely like to ride one of these courses even though I normally only ride enduro laps

I rode the course at snowshoe last year. It was wild. The off camber turns with suface transitions that were dirt/road/gravel/grass/dirt were wicked to carry speed over. Portions of the rock garden were nuts and and lots of steep sections

Was not expecting to see jumps and drops. Going to have to start following xc racing. The wait until the next dh race is far too long lol.

@DylanH93: I have zero interest in riding xc but the races are pretty intense to watch, you won't regret it

@waldo-jpg: give the last lap a try, it's interesting quite often.
Most people truely ride XC when they think they are riding full send broduro, just because of the bike they are on.

@Muckal: I just Said I like to watch the races lol

@waldo-jpg: yeah, answered to the wrong post. Good catch!

Bravo, to the course creators and builders! That's going to make for very interesting races.

Looks like a pretty well thought-out course. I'm interested to see what happens at that narrow rock-over and the small double inside that berm. Hoping for more butterflies too

@pinkbike will there be a fantasy league for XC?
Doubt many of us really give a shit if there's no major sponsor giving out prizes. We just wanna play the game baby!
  • 9 1
Seriously!!! My GF and I play and love the friendly competition. Plus you’re just so much more invested in different riders.

WE WANT FANTASY XC!

This course looks great! It’s what I think of as “cross country”…not some manicured dirt road! Well done and can’t wait to see how the pros handle it.

Parts of the course are totally unrideable today what with the rain, bikes are holding on to a lot of mud. We know who the faves are in cross conditions like these
  • 3 0
It was all rideable, just scary sometimes.
  • 1 0
@jackkson: earlier in practice it was not
  • 2 2
@Willikers: what the hell are these roadies doing?!
  • 4 0
Technical track, muddy conditions...we could be in for some Jolanda beast mode if we're lucky
  • 3 0
@jgoldfield: it happened already in the warm-up race. She decimated the field.

That looks pretty sweet! Not sure how the passing is going to go as it might be a F1 race in the trees.

Wonder if they’ll make the course “more interesting” by taking out the wood ramp on the backside of the first Boulder roll...

The blue butterfly has outdated geometry.

Besides the steep climbs this course actually looks like a lot of fun!
  • 2 0
I was thinking the same, definitely looks like a fun course!
  • 14 2
 Climbs are fun
  • 3 1
@Skarhead89: without a XC background, climbs are not that much fun.

Wow, that's quite a spicy course! Will be interesting to see how line choice plays out with all the alternate sections of trail

Some of those A-lines did not seem much faster than the B-lines. It is a tight course in some parts, can’t wait for next week
  • 1 0
Looks like a really fun course.
Some of the tech A-line features look either the same speed or even slower than the B-line options though. I hope that is not the case since fortune should favor the brave (or most technically skilled).
IMHO the B-line should carry a significant time penalty. This will make XC less "dirt roadie" vibes and more real mtb.
This course certainly leans in that direction. Can't wait to watch.

What a fantastic course, just hope on good camera positions, commentary via Warner never disappoints, will be glued to RedBull this weekend.. last season of coverage, best enjoy...

Awesome course! Would love to ride it, not race it though haha

 Downcountry paradise

Is the Copa International race that was just held this weekend (April 2/3) on the same course/venue as WC #1 this weekend? Couldn't really find much clarity trying to translate.
  • 1 0
Yep. Same course although we should expect some minor changes/adjustments but we can expect it to be 99% equal.
  • 1 0
Awesome course by the looks of it but don't fool your self about the track, they didn't just stumble upon all that downhill out of nowhere. There is likely some brutal climbing in there.

Dual slalom meets XCO, that's a propper modern XC track. Hope it's not wet for them.
  • 2 0
Love the droll, bemused commentary. "Sarcastic laps" should be a regular feature.

Great that the races will be at more friendly times for the North and South Americans rather than a crack of dawn Euro race...
  • 2 0
Fencing at 7:05 seems prime for crashing, especially if he field is bunched. Overall this course looks fantastic!!!
  • 1 0
I hope this event goes off well, South America could use some World Cups in the schedule more often and Asia, make it a "WORLD" cup.
Good luck to all.

 Fantasy league???
  • 6 0
Will PinkBike update the racer list from 2018?
Will Jenn Jackson be on it or will Helen Grobert still be on it?
  • 3 1
who are your favorites in fantasy league? Wink
  • 1 0
That tree on the right at 3:27 might not have as much bark on it after the races.
  • 2 0
This course looks awesome! Cant wait to watch the race
  • 1 0
Oh wow! Sweet looking course. 780’s need not apply! That would be a blast to race! Definitely looking forward to this one!
  • 2 0
Wait XC riders are allowed to enjoy themselves?!
  • 2 0
More features than my local trails! Looks fun as AF to ride.

  • 2 0
 Can't wait
  • 1 0
When is the XC Fantasy League opening up?
  • 1 0
