 With Five Ten being the benchmark for flats, a contender needs to come in and offer a good shoe for a lot less money. Offering something that may or may not be any good, and likely has a less-sticky sole for a ton of cash isn't going to bring a lot of people across the isle.

 I'd take less grip if the shoes lasted more then one season. Spending $150 on shoes every season is stupid.

 @jonnycrash: Just bought ELC from bikester for equivalent of $65 (incl. shipping). My freeriders lasted 3 seasons, but the sole has more holes than swiss cheese.

 @valour59: Yeah, I got some 5.10 impacts early last season. They were torn up by mid summer and I had to shoegoo them to get me through the year.

 @valour59: Bought mine in '13 or '14 and still going strong. Ride in them year round in Canada. The worst that's happened is the rubber separated from the shoe when drying by a fire. Added some glue and good to go. I would like a newer, lighter pair but will keep these till they die.

 Everyone hating on the ION ads these days but I have been riding the Raid Amp II for the past few months and they have been great. They are sticky, and dry really quick. That combination makes them a real solid contender. Don't knock them so quick!

 I don`t work for ION, but as a personal user of ION gear for few years now - knee and elbow pads + Raskal shoes - their equipments are damn good, confortable and solid. Nothing to do with some other brands I tried before. Good job!!! Danke

 150£ for a flat shoe? Naa, your alright. Thats two sets of Fivetens! Plus, leather sucks if you ride in the wet a lot! My leather winter shoes shrunk, size 9 to size 8 in about 3 months

 I'm still a 510 buyer once every 18months, and I just deal with the price. If I could get the same grip and great sole in a narrower size 12 shoe, I'd buy it.
