Vitus Bikes - Chain Reaction Cycles' in-house brand - have just released details of their new carbon Sommet enduro mountain bikes which will be available later this spring.
Building on the success of the Sommet suspension platform which Vitus Bikes released in 2015, the company has today released the full details on its two all-new carbon enduro bike models. The Sommet CR and CRX feature a full carbon monocoque ABS constructed front triangle, 3K weave with UD finish, full internal cable routing and a BB92 bottom bracket, which enables increased stiffness through a maximised down tube profile.
Both carbon models feature a wishlist components package featuring RockShox Pike forks, a SRAM X1/X01 transmission with RaceFace cranks and additional components from WTB and Nukeproof. The only thing holding you back now is your own limitations!
| Our Sommet model has proved to be a huge success in the Enduro market over the last two seasons, providing a bike that is as capable taking riders on all-day epic rides through the Alps as it is at events such the Enduro World Series and the Red Bull Fox Hunt. We've invested significant R&D time into developing this new frame resulting in a carbon front triangle that is over 300gm's lighter than the alloy version - with the complete CRX model tipping the scales at just 27lb! We'll continue to offer our range direct to consumer worldwide through Chain Reaction Cycles ensuring that our customers get more bike for their money and the same world class customer service they have come to expect from Vitus Bikes. - Vitus Bikes Brand Manager Simon Cordner |
Vitus’s direct sales model will once again provide riders with a lot of bike for their money with the range topping Sommet CRX retailing at £3799.99 (UK) / €4999.99 (Europe) and $4499.99 (USA) and the Sommet CR at £2564.99 (UK) / €3599.99 (Europe) and $3374.99 (USA).
For the first time since the brands revival in the hands of Chain Reaction Cycles the marquee will offer the CRX model in two colour ways, which begs the question... Will you go red or green? The 2016 Sommet CRX and Sommet CR will be available exclusively from Chain Reaction Cycles from May 2016.

MENTIONS: @ChainReactionCycles
There's always money in the banana stand
I'm not that fussed by it, really, because SRAM has a pretty good lineup of GXP cranks, & I like their aesthetic. But if I were designing a frame, I wouldn't use BB92 any more than I'd use a straight 1 1/8" steerer tube. The market has spoken, people want 30mm spindle cranks, & BB92 has problems supporting that standard.
4499 dollars but 4999 euros. ..eeerrrrrm what? Please explain.any good reason But greed ;-)
But when it is correct With the VAT, I have My answer there
Best bang for buck bikes and the best customer service I've had with a company in the bike industry. Vitus FTW!
At 6300$can. it isn`t that much of a deal.
I would buy a Norco for the same price.
And have, in my opinion better geometrie, value and design.
(this main pivot swing arm looks flexy from here, and tire clearance ???)
I did get bikes that came with SRAM and while my bias did come into play I still didn't like the stuff, especially brakes, so I'd swap everything to Shimano.
My most recent bike came with a set of Guides and I was set to swap to one of the 2 sets of XT brakes I had around. Due to a poor shop mechanic the rear brake remained a Guide so I was forced to use it for a while. I've now sold both sets of XT brakes and I will say I am a convert...those brakes are damn good! I'm 6'4, 210 and they don't lack bite and power with me. Whereas the newer XTs just didn't seem to be what they once were
