Aaaall aboard on the Sam Hill Hype train!

This post made my month , no joke ! #SamFTW
  • 2 0
Kind of inevitable when the dates of the event are 5-10. Good luck Captain Eyebrows!

Sam Hill! World Champ in my books no matter what goes down ...Downhill and Enduro!! The man deserves all of ours respect!
  • 84 2
i will feel so bad for the full time downhillers if sam wins and wears the rainbow stripes at the ews all next season
  • 7 2
@adrennan: I wouldn't be since it's Sam Hill. But if someone like Richie Rude or Martin Maes won...
  • 14 0
@adrennan: You only wear the rainbow stripes in the discipline you've won. So if Sam won he wouldn't wear them at an EWS but would if he races a world cup round.
  • 15 0
@tomgrundy: Because the EWS isn't sanctioned by UCI, Sam could probably do what ever he wanted with the sleeves on his jersey. It would be a bit of a strange move, but I doubt EWS has rules about championship sleeves.
  • 8 1
@mammal: and let's face it, its sam hill, would you want to fight the guy?
  • 3 0
thats a big IF, could get both sets of striped on the jersey for next year which would be some novelty!
  • 4 0
IF I were Sam, and IF I won both series, I would definitely rock dual striped sleeves. I certainly doubt he'll take the DH title though. Anything's possible though, and it would certainly be a huge FU to the UCI if he were to steal the Champs race and ignore the rest of the series.

Now the big question is: why didn't they bring him to Val di Sole in 2016??
  • 3 1
@mammal: There are rules. Jersey for current champion, collar for former winners
  • 7 0
@mammal: I think sam is way too humble to do that.
  • 1 0
@FlorentVN: So no flags on your sleeve then?
  • 32 0
Holly Cow! Team Aus is stacked!!!

 Yeeeaaahhhh

So stoked for Sam Hill, hoping he will bag home EWS and World champs
  • 12 0
I love sam Ans hope he does well and I'm super happy for him that EWS is going well for him I think the reality is Troy is the fastest Aussie out there right now and is there best bet for a win . Good luck sam !!

i think pressure now is much too high on sam...would be insane if he wins
  • 6 1
@funkzander: what are you talking about? He is ripping up EWS, pressure hasn't been this low in him for like 10 years lol
  • 15 0
I want to see a Hannah sweep so badly...
  • 9 0
Suicide no hander in the winning run would be magical
  • 3 0
@mollow: magical moment has happened when Hart whip it to win it Champery
  • 12 0
The inclusion of Shelly Flood should help the photo epic a bit.
  • 10 2
 Good luck Aussie team...
Where's Jared Graves? He could race XC too, i think he won XC race in Aussie before.
  • 4 3
 Lol!!!
  • 5 0
I pretty much booked my holidays for this I the hope Sam would make the team. Can't wait to get up there and cheer all the Aussies on
  • 5 0
Whilst I am a Sam Hill fan, I feel very disappointed for my local rider Graeme Mudd who has competed in the full WC series & is only a reserve.
  • 2 0
Muddy did well at the WC there last time, maybe he'll get his chance.
  • 1 0
Last world champs, Sam raced UCI DH on a team and didn't make the Aussie team, Graeme Mudd was a privateer not on a team and made the worlds team . . . .
  • 8 3
If he races I bet he'll podium. With all the enduro he's been racing I bet he's a lot fitter than he was in his DH peak.
  • 4 3
Different type of fitness fella, they need to be good for 4 big days on the bike with the EWS and the DH lads and lasses need to be good for 10-12 runs at peak power for a weekend. All the best to the lad tho, hope he does well!
  • 9 0
@willaasss: its a pedaly track. he might take it...
  • 6 0
Oh f**k yeah, gonna be awesome

Aussie Aussie Aussie - Oi Oi Oi Good luck guys! I'm especially excited to see Sam Hill in the team!
  • 6 2
As much as I like Sam and have followed him for a long time I really think Troy deserves that win. Good luck to all !!!!!!! Cheers
  • 9 3
I hear what you at saying, but to be honest, I just hope the fastest rider wins that day. Whoever wins it, earned it! Smile

@km79: Seriously? Dammit....ive been doing it all wrong! Wink

I am quite looking forward to Jack Moir's run. He is an upcoming youngun
  • 1 0
Dont really think he's upcoming anymore, he's a legit contender

The last time Sam Hill was DH world champion was in 2010 in Mont St Anne. He didnt race half of that season due to injury. Yet he raced world champs and won. It was surreal and he's done it before. And hope he does it again this year. Good luck Sam.

He came very close in 2014, until he scorpioned in the rock garden:

@iamamodel: yeah on that gold Nukeproof. I think he was feeling it that year but it was not to be..

Feel for muddy! Tough first year at trek
  • 2 0
One of the best sprinters in the game could be on for something special in Cairns especially with that big peaddly bit. Would have been mad not to include him after this season and its on home soil.

ACT represent! 1.6% of the Australian population but 12% of the Australian Team.
  • 2 0
and probably half of the good trails.
  • 2 1
Big question is what bike? Jared Graves raced the WC there a few years ago on an enduro bike. Can't remember where he finished but I think he qualified second.
  • 2 0
I don't know if the what bike using is the big question, but I think that is a very interesting topic.
  • 2 0
Graves came 3rd at the 2013 World Championships held in South Africa on the Yeti SB66c with fox 36 forks. Minnar 1st, Hannah 2nd.
@PanchoPaloma:

 My prediction for top 3:

1 - Mick Hannah
2 - Troy Brosnan
3 - Sam Hill

World Champs are held from 5-10 September. Are those numbers a coincidence for the flat pedal and signature shoe legend?
  • 1 0
I get it, like 5/10 the shoe.
  • 1 0
Rumour has it that if he got the selection, he planned to race on his enduro bike. I wonder whether he'll go with it! #kingsam
  • 3 1

@casey79: cool thanks, Just seen this, twitter.com/MTBAust/status/897031659047968768
thought it was a bit strange as Au is normally on the ball with sending riders etc (unlike GB)

Must of missed it when pinkbike mentioned it ;-)

I hope to see a Richie Rude on world champs, the cairns track is so fast and has a lot of pedaling

 F##k yeah!

here we say fuckinoath... oh, it got censored.
  • 1 0
@ColquhounerHooner: so just the first four letters with inoath at the end? I like it, if you don't mind I'm going to import that one

@LoganKM1982: and then usually followed by "mate"
  • 2 0
 @LoganKM1982: f*ckinoath, mate.

@ColquhounerHooner: I've been using it, the weird looks from people who think I'm mad are hilarious. I have a friend Geoff, from Australia and he shot beer out of his nose when he heard me say it.
