Does anyone else think that tribute run idea for stevie should be in the top quali spot? Give him the run that a champion deserves, and all the riders that knew him will be at the bottom to share the moment. Plus if it was in the middle of the race, and I was the rider after the tribute run I'd immediately crash due to lack of vision from the tears. Just a thought...
  • 67 1
Totally agreed. And if the winning rider were to step off the podium to let Stevie's spirit stand there one more time during the ceremony... well, that'd be just about a perfect way to say goodbye.
  • 29 2
@robwhynot: Or have one of his jerseys on the podium with the winner...

Great idea. I still can't believe this is real. I'm glad to have witnessed Stevie Smith on top of his game, one of the best.

It's hard to think that a few weeks ago he was charging again like always and then suddenly life decided to play a trick on a guy who has every right to live and inspire others. How i seriously wish he can have the chance Jon Snow did. No goodbyes stevie.

 Don't ever take this down.

That section in seasons chokes me up every time, even more poignant now than it ever was :-(

Ride in Peace Stevie, Forever Young!
  • 12 0
Still one of my favourite movie segments. I still want a Cove Shocker just because of that section!
  • 13 0
Yes, I was thinking how great it was for him to have such a supportive mom, how they probably became closer because of those shuttle rides together, and how much she must hurt now that he's gone.
  • 7 0
You're so right! The Whistler segment of Seasons is a nice one too! We made a trip there in 2009 and riders looked twice at my boyfriend bike. Some young ones said ''Look, it's Steve Smith's bike!!!!''. It wasn't but close call, cause it was Matt Dupelle frame with our parts. We add red Boxxer stickers for a ''clin d'oeil''. I digged this afternoon in our old pics for memories. My favorite video is the WC at MSA in 2013. We were there, at home, and it was awsome! Ride in peace Chainsaw!

So fucking glad we had this moment altogether in MSA.. i'll never forget that

I'll express my specific Thx publicly to Mr. Secco right here. A few articles over a few days is nice...but it's far too soon to let it go. Thank You for this Monday Vid tribute Scott. We/I may not have met Stevie, but Stevie was our Canadian Multi Gold Medal Olympian.

Stevie smith was the guy that brought my biking interest back. And now he makes me shed tears. A true legend! up with some shirts and stickers and I will buy them all..

Such an amazing rider and an awesome person. One of the many gifts Stevie has given us is his passing on of his bike skills and knowledge. You guys know the likes of George Brannigan ride the way they do because they rode with Stevie during those crucial development years. His legacy truly lives on through those guys. #longlivechainsaw
  • 14 3
Thanks for gee's face in Leogang and for all your smiles! cheers

Same, nothing but tears. I'll never forget Stevie. He's definitely one rider I plan on educating my Son about as he progresses in his biking career. He already sits with me to watch the races, no matter what time, he doesn't really understand life in this way yet, but soon, he'll know what a great person Stevie was. I'm honestly already anxious over what will happen and how they will pay tribute to such a great friend by many. Ghost Ride, special ride, some kind of honour will be well deserved and I'm sure the next race weekend will be tough on all the riders.

STOP MAKING ME TEAR UP! I'm a man dammit...*sob*

Thank you pinkbike! I have watched that Rob Parkin tribute video every day since it came out, so tastefully done, short but really catches some of his cheekiness. I can't believe I miss someone I never met this damn much, he just seems like such a great guy ♥ #longlivechainsaw

Thank you for the memory's Pinkbike and thank you Stevie for showing us all that if you worked hard enough not only could you chase your dreams but you could live them. RIP Stevie Smith.

Not sure where to find a better version, but this is one of my favorite Stevie clips: v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNDQ0OTc5NTQ0.html

Really think PB should add it to the Monday movies.

found it here, but oddly can't find it on the vital website itself...

Seriously, wtf 2016...

Very few photos or video of him we see that's he's not smiling from ear to ear. Lived his life the right way! He was an inspiration for everyone and his legacy will live on not only as a rider but as a happy fun loving person. Really hope his mom and family and friends are doing ok and will find the strength - based on what we've seen of his mother she/they will! We won't ever forget him and I'm sure he inspired another generation of canadian rippers that we'll see on the podium one day.

Great compilation of videos Pinkbike. It's great that we can re-live all those memories. Long live Stevie.

The Japan segment was so great yet so sad at the same time... Really captures Stevie's humility and appreciation for life. Tough pill to swallow when he's ask where he sees himself in 5 years... :'(
  • 4 0
his last race in Lourdes and in Cairns should also be included.. #longlivechainsaw
  • 3 0
the two follow me segments were where i first heard of Steve and instantly became a fan, to include those in this feature is awesome ! thanks Pink Bike

Seems like everyone could learn something from Stevie whether you're a rider or not. Gutted to lose him for the MTB world not because I wanted him to beat Gwin, but also because he just seemed a genuinely sterling human being.
  • 1 0
I remember seeing a video a couple of years back of Stevie and I think it was in Whistler, I could be wrong there, but the main part of the video that I remember was him going for this MASSIVE gap and he cased it so hard but somehow managed to ride out of it. I can't for the life of me find that video, but his riding in that video was mind blowing.
  • 2 0
Honestly I have been avoiding watching and all the videos and reading many of the articles and posts. I'm still in too much disbelief over this. I would probably be crying through most of the videos.
  • 2 1
