Video of the Year Winner
2020's
Video of the Year nominees included a ton of heavy-hitting content. From the full-on shredit to in-depth narrative pieces, there was something for everyone. But, only one edit can come out on top.
Tom Van Steenbergen in "Wild West"
Why it's the winner. It was a tight battle this year with 3-4 videos that really stood from the pack and pushed the sport into new territory. However, it was Wild West that came out on top. Tom and Calvin have combined mind-blowing riding with unique visuals that left us with a video that will surely stand the test of time. Congratulations to Tom, Calvin, and everyone behind this video. We can't wait to see what you come up with next.

We don't always see eye to eye so we asked you who should take top honors and the results are in.
Hugo Frixtalon & Thomas Estaque in "Hurricane"
Clearly, we have some secret Trap Lords in our audience. Even if you aren't a fan of the music you can't argue that this video makes you want to ride your bike, which is exactly what a video should do. It's been awesome to see Commencal put so much effort into their original content and it's obviously resonating with our audience.
I don't know man, I've heard a LOT of mumble rap and EDM in ski edits that makes me want to punch kittens.
But the riding is fresh, yo.
I've also owned a few e36s in my day so this one hit close to home.
Going back to my comment though, as someone who is younger (22). I grew up listening to hip-hop so watching videos with music that I know is awesome. I imagine my reaction to videos with heavy metal in it is similar to how a lot of people feel about rap. I know it’s probably an unpopular opinion on pb but I would way rather have rap or edm music in video than metal
I know I've uploaded stuff with copyrighted music and it's blocked within minutes.
Easiest way to tell is in the video description there will be an auto-placed Youtube music credit. If you see that credit, the channel didn't pay for the music.
Regardless, every single nominated video was really, really good. Hats off to anyone involved in producing so much high-quality entertainment for us.
videos are all about expressing yourself and the vision that you and your crew have for the sport, not pleasing as many people as possible. if you optimize for the latter, you wind up with edits I call "truck commercials" with a generic inoffensive song aimed at the target demographic. in the bike industry where the majority of "edits" (including the one in question) are explicitly advertisements we can expect a lot of truck commercials, but I dont understand the backlash that comes when we let the kids express themselves.
Digital camera CCDs can detect well into the infrared range, but a filter over them only allows the visible wavelengths through. If you mod a DSLR to replace the existing filter with a filter that only allows infrared to hit the CCD, you can capture the light that our eyes can't see by turning it into a mostly black & white image, with ghostly white trees and dramatic dark skies.
Color is a fascinating thing to think about. If we could see infrared, it would be as distinct of a color to us as red is to orange, or blue is to green. The same goes for ultraviolet. We just have no ability to imagine what those colors might look like.
I listen to my ipod like a maniac and shred the vinyl like a pro.
" I can guarantee I listen to an exponentially wider variety of music than you so there is no way it is physically possible for you to have a better music taste than me"
"I ride like a maniac and shred the gnar like a pro"

I wasn’t arrogant until people started talking shit buddy. I can tell you’re all so thrilled with all the coal you got for Christmas, why else would people be asshats on the internet for no reason.
