The “Anvil” is intended for dirt jump and street use. It features a new set of tubes developed for this frame by Dedacciai. The tubes are an Aluminum Alloy 7003 with square and rectangular stays. The dropouts are replaceable and adjustable. They allow to lengthen the distance from the rear hub to the bottom bracket from 404mm (16.0”) to 430mm(17.0”), this for optimal single speed setup.

Well this past weekend saw the flat land boys from Calgary Cycle hop on a plane with their mistresses all boxed up and the destination was none other then Whistler Blackcomb's Bike Park. You could hear the excitement in Cam's voice on my answering machine:"Guy, I know you want to ride. So grab your crap, throw your best lady in the 4Runner and get the heck to Whistler. We've got 3 days to ride and that's what we're coming to do!!!!" Well what's a guy to do?? I tell you exactly what I had to do...

Panorama Mountain Village, B.C. — Extensive trail work and exciting developments in the Panorama Bike Park promise a season of great riding.

Panorama Mountain Village has committed significant resources to bike park operations for the 2005 season. A dedicated crew has been employed to design and build trails, maintain existing features, and to provide safety patrol services through the summer.

The Calgary BMX Racetrack is a GO! A few of us have been racing the Thursday evening races for the past couple of weeks, and WOW what fun! The Calgary BMX club has been gracious enough to allow Mtn bikers to race on there track providing there is enough of us to make up our own seperate Mtn bike class. So hopefully we'll see you out at the Track on Thursday nights!

Temecula, Ca- June 20th, 2005: It has been almost two years since Chris Kovarik has competed on the National circuit, and the Deer Valley NORBA in Park City, Utah was the place that marked his return. The buzz was out on the fact that Chris would be competing in both Downhill and Dual Slalom disciplines, and you could see the excitement in the crowd’s faces and the concern in his competitor’s eyes. In Dual Slalom, Kovarik qualified in the number two spot, and after a long, drawn out duel in the dust and rabid sun, Chris found a home on the podium in the number 4 spot.

All you Islanders better get ready to rip it up this weekend as Mount Washington fires up the lifts for another exciting season of mountain biking on June 25th. The trail crew has been working hard to get all of the trails in prime riding condition. 2004 saw some major construction on the mountain, with the inspiration of pro freerider Darren Berrecloth the crew designed and build two wall rides, the beginnings of a skills area and 3 brand new trails.

Well we'll skip our racers here and introduce you to one of our Freeride Team members:Isaac Jenkins. Isaac has the skills to race, but we're giving him the reigns to just ride this year. He just built up his new Devinci Ollie and is looking forward to "sending it" at a mountain near you all summer!

New Mexico Mountain Resort Teams with Outdoor Life Network for National Broadcast Coverage of International Bike Competition

ANGEL FIRE, New Mexico (June 7, 2005) – Angel Fire Resort, the only U.S. location chosen to host the 2005 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, announced today they have partnered with the Outdoor Life Network (OLN) to develop and co-promote a one-hour television special on the international bike race that will be held July 9-10. The race is one of the most prestigious and extreme competitions on the world’s mountain biking calendar and is expected to draw over 300 world-class riders and 10,000 spectators to the resort town, 22 miles outside of Taos, New Mexico. Outdoor Life Network is an official partner of the Tour de France road cycling race and will now produce and air the 2005 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup television special in August.

SORCE mountain bike club (Surrey Off-Road Cycling Enthusiasts Society) is proud to present their fourth annual Surrey Bike Fest. This festival is the only one of its kind in the South Fraser Region and is part of BC Bike Month and Surrey's Peninsula Days Event Series. Well it's been a while since I've posted about fresh products features. Well summer is here, which means time great riding and more new goodies – Enjoy!

Hemlock Resort was the site of the SISU BC Cup XC season kick-off. Just over 120 XC racers came out to start the season with a bang. A 4x event in the afternoon brougth out a good crowd of rippers gunning it. Unfortunately the DH had been cancelled do to mechanical issues. Full XC results are available at myresults.com

Unfortunately the results of the 4x are yet to be released, but the likes of Geoff Gulevich, Kyle Guay, and the only female rider Danika Schroeter were all in attendance.

There is no doubt that the four-minute course in Schladming, Austria, after only two years of World Cup racing, has already earned a reputation as an all-time classic.

The Grasslands Conservation Council of British Columbia is pleased to announce the 2005 Healthy Grasslands Symposium: Mountain Biking in BC's Grasslands. This year's event will be held on June 17, 2005 at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC.

Grasslands boast an appealing climate, beautiful scenery, easy accessibility and world class recreation opportunities. As an increasing
number of people recreate on BC's grasslands, the pressure on these sensitive ecosystems increases. This year's Symposium will bring together members of the mountain biking community and other interest groups to enable a common understanding of grasslands-based mountain biking, grassland stewardship, and the future of sustainable grasslands recreation in British Columbia.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn and ride with Red Bull Rampage competitors and film stars Joe Schwartz and Mike Kinrade. These camps include 10 hours of instruction and riding, lift tickets, and club membership. The camps are geared towards intermediate level riders aged 12-18 years looking to take their downhill riding to the next level.

Carter, the reigning 4-Cross World Champion, and Yeti Factory rider Rich Houseman, will teach the techniques they’ve used to win numerous races and titles throughout the years. The clinics take place on the actual racecourses riders will be racing the weekend of the event.

The clinics cover practice strategies, race strategies, qualifying, starts, line choice, passing/blocking, speed jumping, braking and shifting. And after a day of riding with the pros, the day wraps up with a BBQ for all participants at the raceclinic.com tent.

Wow this has been a true test of everyone's patience, but the goods are now here and that's what matters!! Drop In #3 is unreal!!!! I've had the pleasure of watching these Dirt Bags travel around the Island and up the coast of B.C. and I still can't believe they've been to VEGAS too. Downhill and 4X WC # 2 Willingen, Germany June 3-5

The Santa Cruz Syndicate team resumed travel after the US Open. Nathan Rennie, Henry O’Donnell and Mathieu Dupelle arrived in Frankfurt on May 31st, Nathan’s 24th birthday. To say he had an adventure on his birthday is fair, although not what he had in mind. Stuck in a hotel in the middle of the red light district seemed entertaining at first, but after being asked for spare change from a homeless guy crapping on the sidewalk, the night went downhill from there. Let’s just say the guys are lucky to be alive.

After a long winter the dirt has thawed and construction begun on Park City Utah's first city sanctioned dirt jumps. After a year of planning headed by, Park City Parks and Recreation Department's Ken Fisher ground was broken on to 2+ acre site.

Panorama Mountain Village, B.C. — Local mountain bikers are expected to head the field in the Mad Trapper BC Cup at Panorama Mountain Village on June 25 and 26.

The Panorama leg of the six race series will feature riders from all over Western Canada, with over two hundred expected to compete in Downhill, Cross-Country and Four-Cross events.

Whistler Mountain Bike Park opens additional 2,200 vertical feet June 11. Riders rejoice, the Garbanzo Zone will open two weeks early on weekends beginning this Saturday, June 11. Incredible weekend rider numbers in the Bike Park has contributed to the decision to open the Zone early, launching an additional 2,200 vertical feet of terrain in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park.

After years of hard work, dedication and diligence, West Coast Style - Freeride Fundamentals is finally finished. This DVD is packed with visual and auditory tips on all the fundamentals of how to ride your bike, freeride style. Not only is there a complete lesson package to take away, you get to see some of the pros in action including Shaums March and Ryan Leech. "Athletes have nowhere to race"

The Ontario Cup Downhill Mountain Bike event has been cancelled on the July long weekend. Due to circumstances relating to a claim and insurance concerns, Blue Mountain Resorts has notified the Ontario Cycling Association and Sirbikealot Racing and Promotions (the Downhill Race event organizer) that the event scheduled for July 2nd and 3rd will not happen.

Diablo Freeride Mountain Bike Park in Vernon New Jersey hosted the US Open of Mountain Biking downhill race on Memorial weekend May 29-30th. Syndicate racers, Nathan Rennie and Henry O'Donnell flew out to the event to grab their share of the $20,000 purse, which was put up by Diablo Freeride Mountain Bike Park. Rennie scooped up $2,500.00 with a second place finish behind Sam Hill.

From the land of the ice and snow, the midnight sun where the hot springs blow…. comes Scandinavia’s largest freeride mountain bike event, Åre Mountain Mayhem. In this neck of the woods, it is not just long legged blondes, absolute vodka and fantastic alpine scenery. The last week of July is gearing up for a massive 7 days of gravity-fed trail riding on the best biking destination in the Nordics.

A couple of year’s back I was working in the bike biz and met a guy named Gord, he had recently moved to Vancouver from the East Coast and he had brought his own business with him. He was making safety gear for mountain bikers and I was really impressed by the quality and materials being used. Over the years I have gotten to know Gord and I can attest to the fact that he loves his riding. He’s been a great addition to the scene here on the West coast and it’s hard to miss his army green Beastgear shuttle wagon. If you see him make a point of saying ‘hey’, he’s very personable and he loves what he is doing – riding a bike and running a successful operation of providing quality gear for the riders of the world. Portland, Maine – June 1, 2005 – Last weekend, the e.thirteen components factory support crew traveled Diablo Freeride Park in scenic northern New Jersey to provide technical support for their athletes for the annual US OPEN. Sunday, June 5, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM – Lonsdale Ave (11th - 12th Street) North Vancouver, BC

This is the final event of the North Shore Credit Union World Mountain Bike Festival and we wanted to invite everyone down to Lonsdale on Sunday to check out some unbelievable riding displays from some of the top Trials and BMX riders in the country.

Sunday saw us with a smaller group for Cross Country and a well deserved later start. Sunday’s group of Matty D, Chuck, Mical and Myself all fired on our spandex and hit the trails. I was aboard my new Rocky Mountain ETSX-50 and Mical had her new Trek Top Fuel 110. So we had two new bikes and once again fresh trails.The current trail network is fast middle chain ring intermediate/advanced cruisers. You can link trails for hours for a great work out.

CHROMAG is a relatively new bike company based in Whistler B.C. Their products are designed by riders not only for mechanical function and aesthetics, but also designed for the proper physical contact between bike and rider.

I really hate getting a flat on the trail. I know some of you freaks of nature can change a flat in something stupid like 6 minutes, but it takes me 30 at least, 45 if I’m pissed off. I cheaped out on tires and tubes again so now I’m walking. I REALLY REALLY hate walking. I still have the 1 good ankle so only half of the walk was painfull and unpleasant. I think the trail was called : “Seven K up , after the 5th switch back, on the left hand side, about 25 feet past the big stump!”, or something like that.
