Morning came really early for a lot of people today-thank goodness most of these places have oxygen pumped into them to keep everyone feeling great in no time. NWD6 was great last night, but today is all business and it's time to bring you some more great pics and information on 2006 products.

We all gathered at the Palms to watch Big D's newest offering-New World Disorder 6-Unchained. The movie was killer with riders just killing it. Huge wows need to go out to NWD riders and filmers for their constant push of the freeride envelope. After the movie credits ended it was time for Swollen Members to take the stage and rock the crowd. The show was sick......

Well we're here and inside the Sands to bring you all the goods from Interbike 2005. There are so many exhibitors on site that there is no way we'll get to all the goods, but we will have the best of the best for you to enjoy. Things are cruising along well down here again. After having our photo guy, Harookz go down on the last run yesterday and spending about 5 hours in a Las Vegas hospital getting stitched up I was a little concerned. Harookz is a trooper though and we were at it hard today, testing more bikes for all you out there that can't be here. The temperature was warmer and the amount of riders was more then day #1, so you were waiting to sign most bikes out. Here are day #2's tests....

Up with the sun, ok a few hours after the sun, but it was earlier than this crew's been up in a while. Off to the Sands to get our Dirt Demo passes and hit up the 2006 offerings from our great industry. The bus ride to the D.D. was about 40 minutes from the Casino, but we were entertained with Kenda promotional videos the whole way there. Rocky Mountain Bicycles has been in the mountain bike game for a long time and their B.C. heritage shines through in the bike line up. The ETSX-50 is the first XC ride we’ve ever had here at Pinkbike for a long term test. Not wanting to go with a full on XC race bike, I talked to Daina at R.M.B. about a versatile bike that would mostly see XC trail/exploratory rides. The ETSX-50 showed the most promise in trail etiquette. Did it live up to its online features?

On a Friday afternoon in August, three guys carried through on plans for a long overdue adventure. Chris H, Steve "mo-magic" and I loaded the Astro Boy(C-Team's Astro Van) with bikes and gear. We headed east away from the media darlings(and our backyards) of the Shore and Whistler. We wanted to explore the lesser known but equally worthy riding spots of BC's southern interior.

Camelbak are the originators of the "Hydration System". They have designed systems for everyone from hikers, hunters, joggers, the Army and us cyclists. But last year with the introduction of the Havoc, freeride mountain biking was obviously a niche they wanted to get into.

Well it’s the end of September and the “bike park” season is winding down around the nation. A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to check out the new additions to the Panorama Mountain Resort Trail System on the closing weekend. I hadn’t been out there since the BC Cup race, which was the opening weekend of the resort. The trail crew did fantastic job of building a more diverse trail system than in previous years. Trails such as the “Insanity Race Course”, and "Crazy Train" have been the premier trails, but after a season of building in 05’ there is a lot more diversity in trail design, and features to ride.

Calling all riders! Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is open for one last weekend of adrenaline pumping, downhill bliss.

Ride the Gondola and rip up our trails one last time before the snow flies. Sept 25th is our last day of summer operations.

The 2005 University Cup mountain bike races series begins this weekend with race #1 taking place at the Mansfield Outdoor Centre in Southern Ontario. The University of Toronto Varsity Blues, last year's Provincial Champions, are in a rebuilding phase after losing a number of top racers to graduation. Queen's University, a perennial powerhouse will no doubt be looking to win back the cup.

Fort Williams played host to the final event on the World Cup calendar for 2005. Fans turned out in droves, 20,000+, to see local favorites and international superstars compete in Cross-Country, Four-Cross, and Downhill events. The WC close-out held the key to some tight World Cup Series Points races, but most had already been decided. Weather was mixed but course conditions were generally favorable.

With the recent allegations of testing positive for a banned performance enhancing drug, Haro Bikes has released Chris Sheppard from his professional racing contract. Sheppard tested positive for EPO in an out-of-competition urine test performed at his home in Kamloops, BC on May 29, 2005.

So two years ago when I first set up my Gustav’s on my DH bike, I was recommended to get a deep cup headset. “Why?” I asked. Well I was told that these brakes are so strong that there is a good chance that I may ovalize my head tube if I didn’t. Well I didn’t quite believe him, but I went with the headset upgrade anyways, just to be safe.

When thinking of things to upgrade on your bike I would bet you would think of twenty other things before coming up with brake levers. That is all going to change soon I imagine. I also hadn't even thought of changing levers on my Avid juicy 7's until Pinkbike Tyler strolled into the shop with some Dangerboy Jewellery to show off. The simple small plastic bag and brown header card packaging would lead you to believe that something of the "chang star" variety lies inside but that couldn't be farther from the truth.

Santa Cruz Syndicate's Nathan Rennie is happy to be back on the podium and finish the season where he belongs, up on the blocks, as he places 3rd in the UCI World Cup Finals in Fort William, Scotland, and he finishes the series in 3rd overall.

Well I’ve been using Avid Juicy 7’s for a few months now, so I figure it’s time for a long term review. Let me start off by saying that Avid Juicy 7’s are the first non-hope disc brakes I have ever owned. I have been using Hope disc brakes since day one. I’ve owned pretty much every single Hope brake – from the C2’s to the Enduro to the M4.

At the start of the season I came across these saddles by the folks at SDG and just had to get a few for our riders to enjoy. The SDG Bel Air has a more traditional cross country shape to it, but with more and more downhillers pedalling their steeds around, seats of old, big and bulky designs are becoming less of a commodity. The Bel Air will more then treat your average cross country rider right, but it was the look of these particular saddles that made me want to get our riders on them.

Frenchman, Julien Camellini, was the last place qualifier and he was the first man down the hill. He enjoyed the hotseat until reigning world champ, Fabien Barel smashed his split time by -4:48, finishing in 3:54:77 and taking the lead. There were 33 riders left to come and no one came close to Barel until Steve Peat, who was +0.64 at the split. Peat made a few dabs and finished with a 3:58:14, for fourth. Sam Hill, fastest qualifier, was the challenger for Barel. Hill was on Barel with -0:42 at the split. Flying down the course Hill overcooked a turn and manages to stay on course, but it cost him time. Hill just misses out just 0:77 back, taking the silver medal. Minnaar takes the bronze with a time of 3:57:79, 3:02 back.

Today the 4X racers got their chance to pin it in Livigno Italy. Here are the top 24 men and top 12 ladies results.

Well we've been busy as heck over here at the office and in the warehouse lately. The BTAC show is just around the corner, but we at Brodie just wanted to give you a little sampling of what we've been up to these past months. Here are a few bikes from our '06 line up:

Ladies are good. Ladies that ride are great. Ladies that can rip it up are, well, awesome. That’s one of the reasons why Mountain Cycle jumped at the chance to be part of the first ever women’s freeride invitational coming up this weekend. The Slope Sistair competition from September 3rd – 4th at Hemlock Valley Resort in beautiful BC, will provide the top women freeriders in North America the chance to showcase their skills in front of a panel of celebrity judges, sports media and a pumping audience.

Mt.Snow, Vermont - The last round of the NORBA series saw results overshadowed by a serious crash courteous of Mick Hannah. During torrential rainfall, the downhill riders cast their bodies down the course and into the unknown after practicing during dry conditions all week. Mick was riding conservatively when "I just lost my balance and clipped a tree." The accident looked far worse than it actually was but Mick's neck did take the blow causing a massive chafe mark and subsequent swelling.

The WC Championships are well underway and today was the day to crown the Junior racers-the professionals of tomorrow. While the Juniors were on course, the top professional downhillers were doing their seeding runs for the upcoming finals. Stay tuned for more results as they come in.
