Video: Lost in Chile with Andreu Lacondeguy

Oct 18, 2023
by COMMENCAL BIKES & SKIS

Finding yourself getting lost in the unknown is what prompted Andreu Lancondeguy to return to Chile in early 2023. A legendary country with mountains and volcanoes that provide limitless contrasts. After months of solo scouting from North to South, Andreu managed to find the best freeride spots, from the Atacama desert to the Araucaria forests in Patagonia. He also went to meet the locals who are passionate about adventure, to bring us these magnificent images which he shares in his new documentary, "LOST IN CHILE”.

Great alternative to getting robbed in Utah! Amazing spots and amazing riding.

Indeed, South American robbery is some of the best there is. Ride Loco!

Love watching him ride - Too bad he wasn't at Rampage to get ripped off. Needs to be at Hardline next year.

@suspended-flesh: Fabio Wibmer will confirm that.

 Great alternative, period.

This edit captures the wonder of speed in a way I haven't seen in some time. Love it. Thank you @COMMENCALbicycles

@suspended-flesh: North American speaking about robbery is really sweet

@shaloUCH: I live in the belly of the beast and can honestly say 80% of the fake dystopia Tik-tok 'news' you see is BS and promoted and shared by basement-dwelling brainwashed troll farm employees. I have done a fair amount of traveling in the last 5 years and I find life a lot more cruel, desperate, and dangerous elsewhere. This country is an amusement park compared to much the rest of the world. The 20% hopefully keeps people away. Don't come to CA unless you have skills to share and some street smarts and love animals.

I never get tired of watching andreu ride. I enjoyed this video more than most 3 minute edits. Good music too. Feels like where the trail ends.

Had my attention and kept it! Amazing video and riding.

He's one of the riders I really enjoy seeing. That was real freeride and I'm truly jealous of him, and very happy for him, that he got to do that riding in Chile.

MISSED this guy at Rampage......unreal energy from this dude.

Had his own Rampage in Chile !

As a mere home-viewer of content who was not physically at rampage this year... this edit of his was almost better than Rampage.

My favorite rider by far. So much power in his tricks, so much speed, so much talent. Andreu should have more Rampage wins than anyone. Great video and amazing locations.

awesome vid - does anybody know why he is not wearing a Red Bull helmet for some time and also why the Boxxer ist striped of any logos? Did really follow what is going on for a couple fo years and maybe someone can shed some light on these topics.
  • 2 2
I think he is off Red Bull sine last year. Might also be the reason why is wasn't invited to Rampage in 2023...

The fork and shock are stripped because, as a pro rider, you don't want to be sponsoring brands unless there's something in it for you. Quite a few riders do this, actually.

The Red Bull helmet seems to have came off some time ago. Andreu evolved as rider, got enough of competitions and pretty much only rides for fun now. He's not super out there on social media either, so Red Bull must have ditched him (just my opinion, don't quote me on this).

Shame on you Andreu, no mention of the piscolas?
Viva Chile, always welcome

As long as we keep getting videos like this I won't mind him not at Rampage

For me a of good video/movie is the one that makes me wanna grab my bike and go for a ride just while watching it and bu this scale this is the best one I've watched in a very long time. Thanks Commencal for providing such a content. My only complaint is that I wanted it to last at least twice longer. Cinematography and direction of the movie are second to none. Props to everyone behind this amazing film.

Couldn’t have dropped this at a better time so people can see a real gold winner!!!

How is that no "MUST WATCH"???

Leave it to Andreu to cause the most overwhelmingly positive comments section I’ve seen on PB in a long time. It should be no surprise, but it sure is awesome to witness the raw energy and pure joy he exudes on the bike. I hope everyone has a damn good ride after watching this!

He is the real mountainbiker, the real person and he is living his life the right way. This is SOUL.

this is true spirit of freeride and freeride soul... Cause is it FREEride when you have to find a line with what's left in between 'others owned' lines?

 20 minute epics > 2 minute shreddits
  • 1 0
After watching this superb edit, you say this. But how many of the 20+ minute vids do you sit all the way through without skipping to the riding (not talking about the features of smaller pieces strung together)? There's only so much goofing off, campfire talk of nature, interviews on surgery and recovery etc etc that I can take. This is how you do it. Establish the location and terrain and ride, slo-mo to build atmosphere and add dramatic awe.

@Rubberelli: Fair point. This video reminded me of being a kid watching new world disorder which is why I really enjoyed it.

Particularly in juxtaposition with rampage, I’d love to see more short films like this on the internet.

Stunning visuals and always great to see Andreu shredding! I see he seems to be enjoying his crank flips! More long edits like this please!

The best mtb-travel-freeride video I’ve ever seen. So well done. It makes you want to blow a bunch of cash & check that place out.
Does anyone know if any of those trails were the EWS tracks?
