On location in California, close to the COMMENCAL USA offices, the crew assembled and our new recruit, George Brannigan, was united with the rest of the Commencal Vallnord DH Racing Team. True to his reputation as a committed and somewhat crazy rider, "Geo-Geo" was soon used to his new Supreme DH V4 and rode it exactly how we had imagined... Welcome to the family George!
His Vital RAW clip was for me the best video of the year, I got more of a buzz on watching that short clip then I have from any of the full movies of the year.
Some parts are the shots of the same section of trail. Unlikely all the shots from either vid are of a single trail, but it looks like they are from the same general area.
@StackingItSince1991 don't get me wrong, Brannigan is talented and I doubt Gwinn makes a habit of doing backflips. But, we are talking about two pure DH vids and it is easy to make direct comparisons,
@MTBHammer Teams like Commencal are smart. They know that WC results are good and all, but what's gets people fired up about their products are videos that are published - and Brannigans videos are awesome in this respect.
They don't look like the same terrain at all. The Gwin one looks like big bear (no underbrush, mostly pines) while this video looks more like Carlsbad (tons of underbrush, no big trees, bright green grass in the winter)
really wish Commencal would put as much effort into customer service as they do their social media stuff. still waiting on a call from a rep that i was promised over 3 months ago.....
LOVE my mets SX but it REALLY sucked dropping another $800 into after purchase to replace parts that broke or were busted from the factory and would take months to get to me(took 30 days to get a bb sent to me....)
Stated i wasnt happy spending alot of money on top of the 3k i spent on the bike within 90 days of buying it and felt like i got a lemon. Stephen pons (cs rep) said he would call me that week. This was before christmas....
I really like commencals bikes. The spec and price is hard to beat. The v4 dh rig looks sick! But chances are ill be spending more money on something else just to get better customer service.
So the CS is still shit there... They left me with a f*cked supreme Dh frame that cracked in about 5 places, trying to talk to them is near impossible, and when you do they are so dismissive and uncaring, few years later they publicly admit that year of frame had huge problems, thanks you bunch of c##ts...
@cptstoney we're disappointed to hear of your experience as we always are when people become dissatisfied. Our US office is small and has perhaps been busier then expected which is obviously both a good and bad thing You're query has obviously been missed so if there's anything we can still do then please get in touch with HQ here in Andorra. Send an email to [email protected] and we can direct it immediately. Thanks for the sticking with us!
I've just ordered (and built) the purple edition meta HT after having the orange Rammones cromo for two years and loving every minute of it. Which coincidentally was the last one for sale and they shipped direct and were very helpful last time too... I have to say customer service was top notch with phone calls immidiately when I emailed speaking fluent English, happy to help and great assistance. Fantastic frame and headset too, for what essentially equates to bugger all for the quality. I'm once again pleased as punch with them.
Ive owned 2 Commencals already, about to pick up my 3rd. Customer service has been top notch, and I have never had an issue. I love buying online, and ill never look back. I broke a rear mech hanger on my first ride on my Meta SX HT, and they sent me one all the way from europe for free. It took 13 days, but it was sent from andorra to wyoming, so that is to be expected.. Commencal is the best
Right? Talk about no fear. I used to think I was a reasonable rider, then I see a video like this and think I should just take up cross stitching or such.
Ok Commencal. The future is in your hands. The entire Mountain bike community is trusting in you. Now go forth and produce the loosest huckfest with George and Remmy. I expect heavy metal as well...
Cool video. Yes segments of both Gwin's debut on YT and this one were filmed on the same trail. Rhymes with ebonics, phonics and plate tectonics! It's the worst kept "secret" trail anywhere.
sry, beaten by french riviera. Californian weather, beach, ski, awesome trails, alpine trails, near sea trails, good food, and all in a 3 hour drive radius. Like a pocket size west coast. Oh did I mention the three DH champions?
George is an animal. So much fun to watch. Got to meet the Ravanel's while they were out here, not sure if i missed George, or if he just wasn't at the demo day.
I'm not thrashing like these guys. I'm far more concerned with a pedal smack to my shin than knee pads. I do wear knee pads to play hockey though....but even there, their only function is to protect against stick whacks and not because I might fall on the ice.
A pedal strike to the shin is just painful, a pedal to the knee is painful and can leave you out of action for a while.
I like to use knee and shin combos.

Their XL isn't as big as an average M
I can find the 80% yellow ones, but the red stripe ones are eluding me.
