Reader Rides is back!

If you've been following our Instagram account (follow here if not), you've probably noticed the #pbreaderrides tag. You can use it to get your bike shots reposted to the million followers on our 'gram.

Reader Rides isn't just for dentist builds, we want to know what makes your bike unique. Did you cut lawns to save up to get your first bike from the Buy & Sell? Do you have a pristine bike from the '80s? Do you have a photo of your pride and joy on the top of an alpine peak?

What we are looking for:
• Stunning images
• Unique builds
• Interesting stories behind the bike
• Retro builds

The good people at Sweet Protection have sponsored Reader Rides this month and are giving away a prize pack of riding gear. Prize pack includes an Arbitrator MIPS helmet, Firewall MTB RIG goggle, Hunter shorts, Hunter Merino Fusion jersey, knee and elbow pads. Submit photos of your pride and joy using #pbreaderrides on Instagram for a chance to win this Sweet Protection prize pack.

We'll pick our favourites at the end of the month and draw a winner, so get using the tag! No bike is too old, wacky or unique.

Does my clapped out Jeffsy have a chance?
  • 44 0
The gram is all about angles
  • 7 0
@FloridaHasMTBToo I was scrolling through the article, looking across the room at my Jeffsy, and thinking the same thing.

I have a 2019 Capra and a 2021 Chromag, both are boring looking bikes with very standard parts, I don’t stand a chance

Now my 2007 Bighit with a dual crown 150mm fork might have a chance, but it’s also stupid
  • 7 0
@fewnofrwgijn: your big hit my be ‘stupid’ but it’s simultaneously ‘brilliant’ as well.
  • 5 0
@meathooker: and the filters brah! don't forget the filters!
  • 3 0
More clapped out the better. Also bonus points for being a YT.
  • 1 0
@fewnofrwgijn: #pbreaderrides isn't just for dentist bikes! Previous winners have had custom painted old frames, retro builds, photos in amazing locations or just a cool story behind their bike Smile
  • 91 3
So basically if you have money then you’ll win some free gear. Nice
  • 11 0
You could always pull out some tape & spray cans, swaet out some art & go it that way. Unfortunately if you don't win, you're stuck with whatever paint job you hobbled up.

Not just for the dentist bikes! We're looking for any bike with a cool backstory, unique build or just some really nice photos Smile
  • 2 0
@aidanoliver: this is my backstory. My bike was bought in the time of covid. Why is that amazing? Because it arrived in 2 weeks after it was ordered.

Can I get my free kit now
  • 62 4
all these bikes look like they have never been ridden a day in their life
  • 20 0
Hope isn't just a mint dentist bike contest. Builds done right can definitely include Deore cranks worn down to bare aluminum, mismatched wheels, and wispy remnants of grips.
  • 26 0
They probably haven't, most people snap pictures right after a build
  • 6 0
Bet that demo only gets ridden on green trials
  • 1 0
@DirkMcClerkin: how about mismatched brakes? You wouldn’t be able to tell from the pic, but my front is just there for a place to rest my finger, cause it sure as hell isn’t helping me manage my speed.
  • 1 0
@bdub5696: The rest is fine. Mismatching brakes, however, is blasphemy.
  • 1 0
@DirkMcClerkin every time I look down at my bars and see those levers it pains me.

Dang sad i dont have insta
  • 101 1
Agreed. I'd like to see a PB internal method. I refuse to do social media.
  • 37 0
Don't be sad dude. Not having insta is awesome. tup
  • 2 0
@jomacba: Me too (except PinkBike, of course Fab )
  • 1 0
 @jomacba: good for you, ditto.
  • 2 0
@jomacba: agreed, the scourge of society
  • 4 0
@Davec85: yup. Pretty hard to support something that's seems to be systemically spawning so much negativity and insecurities in this world. Every major issue in the western world at least seems to me to be magnified due to social media. I'm cool with PB. It's an old school type forum. People can remain somewhat transient here.

When my Mega is more famous than me...

So the whole world can target your garage. Or not!!

Take your photos in front of your in-laws, or any other disliked person's home. Say that you feel inspired there

 It’s Sweet Protection without s
  • 6 0
 Thiss.
  • 1 0
protection without s is still protection
  • 10 0
Do I have to clean the bike first?
  • 6 0
I bought a generic name brand frame and bought the most value driven parts that would hold up to significant abuse(Dt Swiss, raceface, Shimano). When do I get my million dollars?
  • 9 0
Pinkbike is social media too. Gateway drug.
  • 8 0
What's this "Insta" people keep referring to?
  • 3 0
Instar are the stages an insect goes through during development, is it something to do with that?
  • 1 2
Not sure if your joking or not, but "Insta" is referring to Instagram which is a social media platform.

 @eridesbikes44: like gram crackers?
  • 2 0
@eridesbikes44: I may well be a luddite but I haven't actually been living in a cave for the last 10 years or so...
  • 6 0
So what your saying is you need money to win. Nobody on a stock budget bike will have a chance. Cool.
  • 2 5
translation: "I want a prize for riding a stock bike"
  • 4 1
 @riddenagenda:

I have far from a stock bike. Point I'm making is money will win things in this regard.
  • 1 0
@Hauck: Don't forget either the expensive camera or ridiculously priced phone required to take the glamor shots of your custom build. Count me out, I've got bills to pay.

Pink bike has become gentrified like so much else in North America.
  • 5 0
So its a contest where you can win stuff, if you spend alot of money on your bike?
  • 1 0
 Photograph any bike
  • 1 0
Why are the prizes offered by Pink Bike never bio-degradable? its always plastic made stuff that has some poor chine's woman making it for 2 cents a hour and yet Pink Bike is offering it as a prize? i'm sure its not a prize for the poor woman who was made to make it or the planet...
  • 1 0
Because I don’t want to win a banana, I want to win something I can put in my bike and smash against a rock
  • 2 0
My old DMR Trailstar with the bottle cage zip-tied to the downtube is too legit to quit.
  • 1 0
 We wanna see that
  • 1 0
Dude I wish I could do that. I don't have instagram. I think my Diamondback Atroz might actually do descent. Bunch of upgrades and an interesting story.
  • 1 0
I've entered my ultra-rare Pace RC100, previously owned by the late great, legendary MTB journo, Steve Worland! Lets see if some retro loveliness can win ;-)
  • 2 0
 That's a pretty Sweet™ deal
  • 2 0
Finally someone truly murdered out their bike.
  • 1 0
@PB u had some nice retro bikes posted! Keep going with those - fanatic bike already dominate within modern builds
  • 4 3
People are shocked that a stock build bike isn’t going to win an aesthetics contest. How does that make any sense lol
  • 2 0
Death, taxes, pinkbike commenters whining about free stuff
  • 1 0
 "Sweet Protections"? *cough*

Fixed it for you.
  • 4 0
 @redrook: thank you!
  • 4 0
@redrook: hey, I count myself amongst the grumpy old folks. But I think you make a good point.
  • 7 0
Doesn't anybody ever consider the reasons why old people are grumpy? I mean, we just get dismissed because we are old and grumpy? We are old and grumpy for damn good reasons, lessons COULD be learned.....
  • 2 1
I am gonna sandpaper grind every gram of my bike and shorts

Does an old specialized M2 Super have a chance?
