Panorama Mountain Village, B.C. — The mountain biking season at Panorama started with a record-breaking B.C. Cup event and will close with the Panorama Cup on Labour Day Weekend.

The Panorama Cup features a 4-Cross on Saturday September the 3rd, followed by a Downhill on Sunday. Invermere local and Team Giant rider, Aaron Clark, won last year and will be looking to go hard after a disappointing result in the B.C. Cup at Panorama. Another local, Darcy Lehr, will be looking to show the younger bikers a thing or two after finishing well in the recent World Masters event.

The boys at Freeride Entertainment have been working and partying hard to bring you the latest Offence in the the New World Disorder saga.... NWD6 - Unchained.

“Ouchhhh… my aching head!” … It’s only now, a week after the crew and riders from New World Disorder SIX left from 10 hectic days of riding and filming in Bolivia, South America, that I’m even beginning to recover and can even start to think about the whole wild experience and tell the world about their adventures here, on top of the world.

Adventure Tourism in B.C. is bustling and it’s more then evident in the small Kootenay town of Nelson. Being nestled in the middle of all the surrounding mountains makes this town a haven for skiers in the winter and dirt bag cyclists in the summer. Having never ridden or for that matter been to Nelson, I knew it was time to make the trip. Hearing about Gravity Adventures.net made my decision to go that much easier.

Sitting in the lounge of the Quaaout Lodge on the shores of the Little Shuswap lake with Matt Hunter and the crew of the Collective, one of the cameramen returns to the table with a piece of paper that was slipped under the door of their room. He hands it to Darcy Wittenberg, one of the film’s key cinematographers/directors. A big smile grows across his face as he reads the note.
“My name is Tessa,” it starts, “I’m seven years old and am also an extreme mountain biker. Tomorrow is my birthday and it would make me really happy if you would put me in your film…”

‘Weekend Sessions’ with top pro riders at Sun Peaks Resort began Saturday July 30th giving you the opportunity to ride on the weekends with some of the best pros around.

Pros such as Matt Hunter, Brett Tippie, Matt Brooks, Jarod Gatzka, Jay Hoots, Kyle Proznik, Steve Tuchiwsky, Ian Duncan and many more will be on hand throughout the summer to show you how its done with style.

Was I ever happy to have a northwest facing window in the morning as the sun was up crying bluebird at us, oh and cooking the guys on the other side of the house. Thanks again Ross. We headed down to the Putnam Station for a breakfast fill and discuss the photo shots that we wanted for the day ahead. Breakfast that consists of meat, eggs, toast and fruit is a must to get through any day, let alone a day behind the bars of my Demo 8. Speaking of which, 4 of us were rocking the Demo 8 frames, 2 were on Cove Playmates and Tyson was on board his Iron Horse 7 Point 7 (which really needed a Travis on the front of it-attn. Glew). Here we also took the time to ask if it was possible to go up to the peak at 7 pm for a sunset shoot-Steve would look into it for us.

Though the drive to Hemlock takes you further away from civilization, gas and groceries, the scenery is worth every kilometer of hairpins, steeps and power slides. From the Trans Canada highway to the top of the resort takes about 45 minutes, but the drive is just as spectacular as the one to Whistler.

A few months back, March to be exact, I was talking with Brian Webb at Silver Star about the upcoming season and what they had in the works. We got to talking about a trip and then the season came along and I just couldn’t find the time to get up there. All I was hearing and reading about the current park at Silver Star were rave reviews. How was I gonna make it happen? July rolled around and my weekends were all already planned for me and August looked the same. I contacted Heather in guest services to see if a mid week gorilla trip would work for them and the next thing I knew I was scrambling to get riders together for what would be my epic riding trip of the season. Many things made this trip a great one, and I’m never one not to tell the story, so here you go.

Those who were among the many who defied the rain and cold weather to watch the DH competition in Pila (Italy), certainly weren't disappointed. The show was amazing, with the best DH specialists in the world challenging each others on a hard and slippery run, while the highest mountains around were covered in snow.

Last year’s Ride to the Lake taking place in the old city of Meersburg was a successful event debut for Cory Moore and Tarek Rasouli.
This year the two Freeride Specialists want to go real big. They are planning the next ultimate urban freeride event together with Red Bull. They looked at several locations all over Germany searching for a city, which can be conquered by the international Freeride Pros. Tarek Rasouli and Cory Moore were searching for a beautiful scenery for an urban Freeride Contest in "good old Germany“. So they wanted Old Castle walls, ramparts and Draw bridges as well as half-timbered buildings.

The weather was awful tonight at Pila (Italy), for the 4Cross World Cup race, that took place in violent rainfalls, cold temperature and even the fog. In spite of the weather, many people were there to watch an amazing show.

Today was a practices day for downhill racers, expecting tonight's 4Cross race in Pila, where the Mountain Bike World Cup held for 4Cross and Downhill.

The weather was sunny or lightly cloudy, despite the dreadful forecast, but the downhill track has proven to be even more difficult after yesterday's rain, causing many spectacular falls due to emerging roots and stones.

Ryan's newest movie "Mastering the Art of Trials" is a how to for all of us out there that want to learn more about trials and the techniques behind the art. This DVD can easily be applied to the average mountain biker whose trail riding would benefit massively from these techniques.

Tomorrow and on Sunday the penultimate appointment of the mtb World Cup of Downhill and 4Cross will take place in Pila, Valle d’Aosta (Italy), where the points of the last but one stage of the season will be given for the two spectacular disciplines. Today, the bike stadium of the breathtaking place near Aosta has held the training with more than 200 downhill riders and 80 4-Cross riders.

CRANKWORX has to be the event of the year! Action packed with competitions, the Santa Cruz Syndicate had a blast all week in Whistler. The highlights were the Slopestyle freeride competition, the two downhill events, and the Troy Lee Designs 80’s party! Here’s the recap:

This past weekend saw hundreds of racers converge on Sun Peaks resort for the World Masters Championships in Downhill (DH) and Cross Country (XC) as well as the Canada Cup Finals for DH and XC. The Canada Cup was also counted as a B.C. Cup event too, so riders were doubling up on their points by the end of the weekend. The Master’s XC would take place on Friday, while all remaining XC races would be on Saturday. Sunday would be the DH day, as all categories would be running the 4.8 KM course to see who had the goods to be crowned World and Canada Cup champions.

Hello everyone! I'm starting to recruit volunteers for the women's freeride event I'm organizing at Hemlock valley resort on September 2nd to 4th. I need people for everything from course maintenance, shuttling, athlete/media/sponsor registration and organization to sound system set up and party preparation.

Affordable Bike Valet Now Available

WHISTLER, BC– Driven by concerns about mountain bike theft occurring, Whistler Blackcomb has introduced an affordable bike valet service for riders.

Located in the Excalibur Storage building, adjacent to the Fitzsimmons chair line up, Whistler Blackcomb has opened a weekend bike valet. According to the Whistler RCMP 19 bikes were reported missing or stolen in the month of July. “This number is shocking to say the least but certainly highlights the need for such a service - and we’re stepping up to meet this need,” says Matt Davies, Retail Rental Operations Manager at Whistler Blackcomb.

Much like the ever changing weather in Kamloops, each and every day of our trip was compiled of various accomplishments, frustrations, and confusions. For the most part, the riding would be thrown down by the UFC IV finalists who were eager to ride for our Clean Cut cameras.

After seven days of racing over 600km through the Rocky Mountains, Race Face is proud to announce the results are in and both Race Face UXC Teams have finished this epic race with some impressive results.

Neil Grover and Troy Misseghers of Team Race Face Mountain Men rode consistently strong all week, taking the 2nd overall spot just behind the pro Rocky Mountain Team of Andreas Hestler and Marty Lazarski. “The TransRockies is an experience to be remembered forever” said Troy Misseghers of this year’s race “Thanks to Race Face for making our lives easy. Bikes worked amazing and the boy’s were fun to hang out with. So many feelings and emotions as Neil and I came in today. My partner is a champion. Thank you Neil!”

Cannondale is circling the wagons this weekend (well, bringing their shiny demo truck to town at least) in the Vancouver area so that you can climb aboard one of their machines and go for a pedal.

On August 13 2005 Drop In Riders Steve Romaniuk and Dylan Tremblay will be making their only Ontario appearance of the year. When I asked these guys about coming up to Collingwood for a Canadian Cancer Society fundraising demo ride, they were both stoked about the whole idea and volunteered their time to come up. I talked to Jack Peterson the owner of Little Ed’s in Collingwood and he was super stoked about hosting the event. When Blake was asked if he was interested in building the course he was amped as well to get down and dirty and design something these guys would have fun on.

Crankworx wrapped today with intense downhill action as Brain Lopes of the USA took first in the Pro Men's category of the Garbanzo Enduro Downhill with blistering speed and a time of 14:31.67 on a course spanning 1300 vertical feet. Legendary Marla Streb, also of the USA, took first in the Pro Women's with a time of 16.03.12.

"I had a good run with smooth flow through the trees but I didn't expect to win," says Lopes. This was the second first place finish for Lopes after taking the title for the Nissan Biker X on Friday.

Santa Cruz Syndicate rider, Cameron Zink is stoked to place third at the Crankworx Slopestyle event held Saturday, August 6th, in Whistler, Canada. Zink’s crowd-pleasing performance was packed with tricks. Dropping into the course off the ladder drop, Zink knew he had to give it everything, as he hit the first of two massive double jumps. The crowd went nuts when he pulls a gigantic back flip nac-nac on the first jump, then rolls right into the second jump and does a back flip one-footed, X-up!! To put an exclamation on the run, Zink does a 360 off the box dropping into the finish, the only rider to 360 the box. Zink’s performance places him third behind Darren Barrecloth, and the winner, Paul Basagoitia.

WHISTLER, BC, August 6, 2005 - Backflips, tailwhips, and 360s were the order of the day at today's Pro Invitational Slopestyle presented by Full Throttle. Paul Basagoitia of Nevada threw them all down to successfully defend his title.

"Paul's run was both technical and big," says Scott Hart, Crankworx judge and creative director for Decline Magazine. He did a 360 off the quarter-pipe and went with speed into two big backflips. After that, he sealed the deal with a tail whip off the Giro trailer."

WHISTLER, BC, August 5, 2005 - The Nissan Biker X went down today with Brian Lopes of the United States emerging triumphant in the Pro Men's category after getting the holeshot and holding his lead through a grueling dirt course riddled with drops, table tops and berms.

When the dust finally settled, Cedric Gracia of France stood in second, Bas De Bever of the Netherlands in third and Kyle Strait of the USA in fourth.

took first over Anneke Beerten of the Netherlands in second, Fionn Griffiths of Great Britain in third and Whistler's own Jenn Ashton in fourth.

We had our fair share of challenges getting the Season 3 DVD out there this year. Now it's time to aplogize for our replicator and forget the pain-in-the-ass hurdles that we've had to get through and tell all that the DVD's are shipping again!

Toronto – Norco Performance Bikes and the City of Toronto are teaming up to put on a special event on the Don Valley Trails in downtown Toronto.

Norco Factory Team Riders Jay Hoots and Justin Brown will lead group rides into the trail network on Wednesday, August 10, and the rides will be followed by a barbeque and information session at the Don Valley Brick Works on Bayview Ave.

WHISTLER, BC, August 4, 2005 - Cedric Gracia set a blistering pace on one of the hottest days of the summer to take first in the Jim Beam Air Downhill Pro Division at the second annual Crankworx Freeride Mountain Bike Festival in Whistler today.

The stage was set on A-Line, the Whistler Blackcomb Mountain Bike Park's legendary machine-built, jump-infested trail. With a time of 4:15.61 Gracia of France put himself ahead of Brian Lopes of the United States by .74 of a second. Steve Peat of Great Britain took third with a time of 4:16.45, only .84 of a second behind Gracia.

As soon as I knew that my traveling partner was not going to be able to make the trip to Golden for Psychosis, I hit the phones and emails to find a ride there. I’ve been to every Mt.7 Psychosis except the first year, but really most of us were not part of the 7 riders there that year. Well as luck would have it there were a few groups of riders heading out of Whistler and 1 of them might have room.

Today the second annual Crankworx freeride mountain bike festival launched five days of non-stop, gravity-fed, downhill action.

Crankworx showcases Whistler as the ultimate downhill biking playground by combining gargantuan stunt sessions and mind-blowing speed events with the world's best mountain bikers competing for cash and prizing totaling over $30,000. The event line-up also includes fun races for all ages, live music acts, patio parties and roving street entertainment.

10 a.m. Thursday morning found me at the 2006 SRAM World Cup product launch. Here, we were introduced to the new Rock Shox Boxxer line up, the Team and W.C. Reba’s, W.C. SID and Pearl rear shocks. Truvativ had a few highlights that were touched upon as well. When we finished the technical side of the launch, Greg Herbold headed out on the Epic XC with a bunch of riders-the destination was Taos.

Epic Ride BC announces dates for Rock Star weekend camps to be offered for the summer months. Epic’s Rock Star camps will begin August 4 and run until September 24th for a choice of one, two or three days duration. The weekend camps provide an incredible opportunity for weekend riders to refine their skills in singletrack and freeriding with Epic’s team of coaches including guest pro rider appearances.
