DreamRide II - Photo and Video Epic

Mar 14, 2017
by Diamondback Bikes

Hello dear friends, and welcome back
To a place where colors emerge from black
Another chapter from our little DreamRide
So take a minute to enjoy. Set your work aside

We've traveled quite far, across ocean and land
To make something unique, something wild and grand
Steaming volcanoes and hot lava flows
Places with magic, where time simply slows

Sit back and relax. Let your dreams run free
Create anything that your mind wants to see!
But until you're able to cut loose and explore
We invite you to join us on our journey, once more.

Welcome to DreamRide II

What does it mean Image by Bruno Long

What makes dreams so incredibly special? Is it the fact that they're simply figments of our imagination? Untouchable? Too colorful for reality? DreamRide 2 aims to bring dreams to life. Ride along with us as we journey across massive lava fields, cruise alongside evergreen canyons, chase rainbows, ride on frozen rivers and explore volcanic caves. These are the places only seen in dreams. Welcome to back to DreamRide.

DreamRide2 is brought to you by Diamondback Bikes and the 2017 Diamondback Release.
All imagery was shot by Bruno Long.

Directed by Mike Hopkins
Produced by Mike Hopkins/Juicy Studios
Filming by Jordan Manley, Scott Secco, David Peacock
Edited by Scott Secco

Quite simply a beautiful piece of art.

What an amazing bit of cinematography!! I have to believe that it would effect non bikers in the same fashion as it took my breath away there.
  • 18 0
@willyheff: Essentially its like a mini series of Life Cycles which did go over well even for those who rarely biked. That was so enjoyable.
  • 22 7
and people still with ""semenuk edit of the yeaaar"" just no. this wins

I need to have a dream like that! Nice work gang!!
  • 14 0
Reminds me of Life Cycles a lot, which is one of the highest compliments I can think of for a bike movie.. I mean, a movie about a bike Wink
  • 12 0
AMAZEBALLS!!!!!!!! WOW! And I even live here, yet it still amazes me on how you folks captured the beauty of my home island. MAHALO!!!!!!!

There is a lot of great content posted on Pinkbike, but this is the best I have ever seen. I've never seen cinematography like this in a bike video.
  • 3 0
 I totally agree...just what I was thinking!
  • 7 0
Honestly, at very first I thought "cheeeeesey", then slowly I found myself sitting up higher and staring at the screen harder. By the end I had to stop myself from quitting my desk job and buying a bunch of plane tickets. great job.

If I were to spend a while in the desert meditating on what my ideal self would look like as a rider, image creator, and human being, I think I'd just come out with this as the result. At least it would make explaining my epiphany easy to people; I could just send them this link.
  • 9 0
Simply beautiful, thank's Mother Nature, and Hopkins btw!
  • 5 0
Holy shit, that really was awesome. Not like run of the mill awesome. But, if you line up all the other things you say were awesome, then pick the most awesome. This would be it. That snow riding was off the hook.
  • 8 0
Well that certainly was a cut above the usual pap
  • 6 0
Amazing video. Amazing pics. Amazing edit. I want to go ride my bike right now!
  • 3 0
Think me and my wife need a little vacation to Hawaii. O wait did I say my wife....I meant my bike. JK...she rips too...we went to Kauai in 2016 and hiked all around the island. The entire time we kept saying how much we wished we had our bikes. The locals who get to ride these trails that nobody seems to know exist are some lucky peddlers!!

Had the pleasure of having a beer with Mike and Kelly when the slope style got rained out in whistler 2 years ago, two of the nicest guys in mountain biking I've ever met. Awesome to see Mike in this!
  • 5 0
I would buy one, JUST because Mike rides one, and Porter rides one. This video is ANOTHER LEVEL. And they dedicated it to Kelly McGarry!! Much Props guys.

Totally totally stoked by the riding & the beauty of the scenery. This film should be a wake-up call for all of those who still don't understand why it's so important to preserve nature, biodiversity, ecosystems and out Planet in general.

 Edit of the year!!!
  • 5 4
Pretty sure the lava flow shots are Big Island (Hawai'i), not O'ahu...unless something started flowing into the ocean around Nanakuli... that crusty old lava eats tires (and knees) like nothing else! Sweet photo set.
  • 4 0
Notice that the island name was corrected, thanks. Its not quite as bad as calling an Aussie a Kiwi, but almost. Mahalo.
  • 6 0
@twozerosix: That was our error. Too little sleep!
  • 2 0
@diamondbackbikes: Super sweet video, makes me homesick, you found some great little nuggets.

The nap at my desk today was nowhere near as epic....
  • 3 0
Where's all this singletrack on the big island? Especially the one above the huge cliffs!
  • 1 0
I was wondering same thing...pretty sure its a hiking trail way above Waipio or Waimanu, and from everything I've heard its super treacherous. I bet the rideable section is not much longer than shown in this video.

Downhill Mauna Kea though? Let 'er rip!
  • 2 0
Hawaii, BC, Alberta.....I am missing out.....wow....Hawaiians must hate Capt. Cook or whoever it was that discovered paradise....wow.....
  • 2 0
 Not "hate", but "ate".

Captain Cook got a really pretty bay named after him, to make up for being a human sacrifice.

  • 3 0
DAMN! Was this filmed in Jurrasic Park? Absolutely stunning scenery!
  • 5 0
If Hopkins could have set this in Jurassic Park, I assure you he would have done just that. This was as close as he could get.
  • 3 0
@diamondbackbikes: Actually it was pretty close. The huge valley scene, Jurassic Park was partially filmed in it. I live here and was also a location scout for Mike and the team while they were here. Amazing experience and even more amazing outcome. Congrats Diamondback Bikes!
