Everybody knows Revolution Bike Park, right? The fast-growing, and boundary-pushing trail network nestled on the hillside in Llangynog, Wales. Primarily for downhill bikes, or if you’re feeling fruity, a long travel trail bike. Well, not for Darren Evans.

I headed down to Revolution and met up with the OG Hardtail Hooner to session some of the best slate and slop on offer in the Autumn sunshine. Aboard his Stanton Switchback, Darren took on the 50:01 jump line, poop chute, and some mind-bendingly good turns one of their newest tracks, Reddy McRedface. Fresh back from the Finale EWS, where he finished mid-pack on a hardtail (yes on a hardtail) - Darren was raring to give it the beans through the rough stuff, and from some light (read firm) peer pressuring from Phil Atwill, was keen to get some air miles clocked aboard the Hardcore Hardtail. Just wait until Darren climbs aboard the new Stanton full suspension rig next year.. then things are going to get wild!

When you browse the news feed and see an awesome hardtail video... Best mornings at the office Wink

One of my favorite parts to watch in the old Earthed series was the "hardtails rule" sections!

it works also with " When you browse the news feed and see an awesome @caldwellvisuals video... Best mornings at the office"

Jeeeeeeesus. Revo is rough enough on a DH bike. Mad props to a proper mad c*nt!

Was thinking the same thing! Nuts.

Amen brother, ive the scars to prove it .

Aside from the hardtail thing, this video also captures what is often missed about Revolution bike park - which is the awesome rooty, muddy, turny DH trails and not just the booter lines. The "proper" DH trails at Revs are among the best in the world.
And because of the tremendous amount of work that builders put in, they're not all worn in/out BMX tracks

Yeah some of the most tech sections I've ever seen at a bikepark.

My hardtail would shit itself if it saw this video!

His wheel guy must love him
  • 9 0
all the people talking about how he should get a full sus clearly didn’t get the point. The reason a dude with these skills rides a hardtail is because he loves it, and for no other reason. He’s like me, and finds hardtail way more enjoyable and fun.

I have no idea, why you guys mention his ankles. It's not that bad, especially when you clip in. I'm not taking anythign from him, he is insanely smooth, but I'm more than sure that average street/bmx hurts wrists and ankles much more. Last monday I saw a dude in th bike park overjumping two backfacing quarters, 2m to flat concrete on a BMX - BOOM!

Anyways, amazing riding, and great footage. Caldwell visuals keep the Earthed spirit alive Smile

Crazy isn't he! Glad you liked it Waki, cheers dude!

@caldwellvisuals: I rode my HT yesterday, straight after the rain, slick granite faces, semi slicks, chasing 4 Enduro 29ers... it.did.not.go.well... I don't know what's more impressive, HT with legit tyres or FS with semi-slicks... but quite frankly, what impresses me most with some of your super models is when some lad rides a HT on a rough trail on flat pedals, that is freaking Hogwarths...

 Dude must have rubber ankles.
  • 5 0
Those booters are BIG, props to the balls on these guys! Also nothing quite like the sound of a hardtail imploding on itself going down some techy trails! Awesome riding guys!

Reminds me of my first real MTB. The Azonic Steel Head! That's a young man's game. My back no longer takes the abuse.
  • 6 0
That's how I ride mine too. Just like that.

YEAAAAHHHH!!!! Stanton Switchback: best machine to put a big smile on your face everytime. Got one for a year now, and how to say?.... I never rode my full suspension donkey since I have that little wonder 'cos it does everything with much more fun. Steel is real and beautiful, so much responsive and nervous but tolerant though, and the Switchback can do everything, except to leave you unsensitive Smile
  • 5 0
Yup, not buying that frame from the buy n sell.
  • 2 0
I wouldn't worry about the frame, those Stanton's are bomb proof! That rear wheel however...
  • 5 1
Respect. And I wouldn't be able to walk through that slop without crashing.
  • 4 0
Darren evans i think you are an insane rider nice seeing you at the black run race
  • 2 0
Audio at 1:57. Dervish mental ankles. If that's a Switchback, max wheelbase is 1120mm. Changes direction on a microdot. Get the gentleman some prototype full-squish quick, and keep him from hospital. WC DH circuit beware.

darren you are a mad man! stanton frames are beautiful but too small for people at 6´1"...make them longer!

Excellent Technique and 650b Prowess! I wouldn't dare attempt anything like that on my old_school 2k5 26" Trek HT. But I still consider it my urban Thrasher.

"Please stay off the trails when wet or muddy"... LOL
  • 18 0
If they implemented that Revolution would be permanently closed.
  • 1 0
Yeah, the UK can't have rules like that. They'd never get to ride. In fact, their conditions are precisely why you see so many hardtails and bad ass HT riders coming out of that area. Can't imagine linkage and pivots lasting too long in that shit.
